Mary and Jim are remarkable, thoughtful and caring hosts, and their lodge is ideal -- comfortable, charming and a perfect place from which to visit magnificant Mount Cook and the surrounding area. Everything about our four-night stay was lovely -- most of all, perhaps, was meeting and getting to know Mary and Jim. I will long remember our wonderful dinner...

it is out of question that the Lodge is located in a very peaceful and quite place with remarcable landscapes and surroundings . But nothing compares with the hospitality of our hostess Mary and Jim. They were extremly kind and nice and they made real that we felt totally at home by staying there. We will not forget it!

Really well appointed (the Retreat) rooms with all you could want. The rooms were serviced every day and the welcome was really good. Only thing which let it down was the WiFi reception in the Retreat - I assume all other rooms have good access. Shops and restaurants are a short drive away

We stayed just one night with Mary and Jim in the Retreat. A great self-contained apartment with views over a mini-vineyard and a most comfortable bed. Seven star service at 4 star prices!

This is a beautiful, spacious and comfortable B&B whose gracious hosts shared their thoughtful insights into New Zealand and its culture. Our room was private and quiet, overlooking an interesting garden that Jim, the co-owner is now developing. Mary's dinner and breakfast were both superb. Highly recommended.

My partner and I stayed here in October 2011, initially booking for three nights but staying for four. We had a really lovely, peaceful and fun stay and would highly recommend the place to our friends and family. The hosts, Mary and Jim were so friendly and welcoming. Unlike a standard B&B, there was no separate guest lounge or dining...

We stayed here in January 2011 for two nights. Jim and Mary was excellent hosts and made us feel very welcome. We stayed here to visit the Mount Cook Park and it was a easy drive. The accommodation was lovely and the dinner and breakfasts were delightful. Will recommend this b&b definitely!

Mary and Jim are just the best hosts that we have met in any of our travels. Before we arrived, we didn't think heartland lodge was going to be anything special as we had mistaken it for one of the heartland group of hotels. However, when we saw the pretty little chalkboard outside the house with our names on it,...
