The staff were very welcoming and helpful. The lobby is large and well decorated.
The rooms on the ground floor are accessible both from the outside and the inside, which is fantastic for those with lots of luggage and for families instead of lugging bags up stairs and down corridors. The outside door was also great to open to let fresh air in, and quickly access the car if needed.
The room was cosy, with nice soft furnishings and well thought out with nice touches and pops of colour.
The positives were there were lots of towels, a towel warmer!, lots of lights, a fridge and kettle, and a vent in the bathroom door to allow steam to escape.
The downsides were:
- Very thin pillows and blankets,
- The room was very cold at night,
- The absence of crockery, spoons and glasses. Instead, we had to drink our tea,
coffee, water from paper cups and use sticks. Not sure what is behind this trend
but it really takes away from being a five star to a four. It would be so nice to have a real
cup to enjoy your morning coffee.
- The small 'second room' in the family room was very cold and cramped.
- at the gift shop just about all the items displayed for purchase were unavailable,
which led to disappointment.
However, overall we would recommend this Van Der Valk as an excellent place to stay, it is friendly, quiet and has a definite old Dutch charm.
Breakfast choice good and staff helpful. Although this was covered by company expenses would not stay again as did not feel this Hotel represented good value for money.
The hotel is very large, with comfortable rooms, modernly appointed, beautiful bathroom and very good sleep quality.
The breakfast buffet is quite complete, with a nice choice of meal plans and served in the restaurant area.
The Sky Bar is also a very nice feature, useful for an end of day informal meeting with good drinks.
Definitely a place to stay when travelling in the region. I'll be back.
Unfortunately, there was only 1 person (Lisa) working in the restaurant who knew what she was doing, the rest seemed to be interns. Food is too expensive, I got a catfish that clearly had to lie under the outlet lamp for too long and extra orders were forgotten.
The bartender (Monique) in the Piano Bar is a friendly person and understands how to entertain and serve her guests.
Also gave a good tip, drive to P&R, there is a large parking lot. You can take the bus to the center for only €5,10 parking all day. The breakfast was tasty and the dinner was also tasty. The room was neat and tidy. .
on Oct 4 We had a delicious dinner at the table we had chosen in advance, where we were served excellently by Monique, who even, without being asked, brought a fleece cloth against the draft of the air conditioning above one of the chairs. Finally, the next morning we all enjoyed a delicious and extensive breakfast. Can't say anything other than "class"
We briefly consulted with the rest of the group and then made a reservation this morning.
After 12 hours the grabbers had the price down by 50%!! increased. What an awful shitty place. Do they probably do it based on IP address or something?
So instead. 121 euros per night they now want 176 per night. Well, new generation of Van der Valk, if you don't deserve it like that....Not with us or company.
