Pros: Just outside Skaftafell National Park (which has great hikes and scenery, including glaciers and waterfalls) Easy drive to other top sites of the south coast, like Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon and the quaint town of Vik. Good breakfast buffet in the large dining room. Can eat with a view of a glacier out the back of the hotel! Room was...

I spent two nights at Hotel Skaftafell with two friends during our drive along southern Iceland. It's a good stopping point between Vik and Hofn, and close to the glacial lagoons and some good hiking. The rooms are pretty basic, with few amenities, but you'll likely spend little time except the evenings at the hotel anyways. Treat it as a...

Although costly and not the greatest experience, the staff is friendly and the hotel is a nice intermediary point of launch to see the SE of Iceland. The best part of the hotel was the breakfast. Do not miss this chance to fill up before a day of activity. The croissants were amazing. Enjoy!

The hotel is not luxury one but with all basic needs. The have a small pub and a medium size restaurants which offer good food and breakfast. Staffs are helpful and polite. A staff recommend us a 15 mins walk behind the hotel where there is great glacier view.

Quiet and clean hotel. The staff are super nice. I arrived around dinner time and was worried because there was 1 vegetarian option on the menu which was a bean chili and I'm allergic to beans. It was no problem at all, the waiter was super nice about it and the chef made me something special - a beautiful plate...

This hotel is in such a great location with a short walk to the glacier behind the hotel. The whole facility is very modern and new and staff are very friendly and helpful. The room was very clean and spacious and had a nice vibe. We had dinner the first night at the restaurant, it is a little pricey but...

We spent two nights at this hotel. Room was very nice and quiet. There is an upstairs bar to have a before dinner drink or just relax after a busy day. The dining room is downstairs and serves a very good breakfast as well as dinner, which is also very good. Food selection was good. They also offer dessert, which...

We picked this hotel due to location. Fully functional and warm, but can't rave about it except for location. Quite dated and the restaurant was very expensive so both nights we walked across the road to the garage opposite which did some surprisingly tasty food reasonably priced. Some desk staff helpful, others lacking in welcoming skills sadly. Self service breakfast...

Excellent location on the edge of the glacier. Staff friendly, food good, room comfortable and clean but basic. Terrace bar with views of the mountain if the weather allows. Easy access to Skaftafell National park.

The rooms are minimalistic (Icelandic style) but spatious enough, comfortable and clean, which makes this hotel definately a good choice. It's the ideal base to visit the Vatnajökul National Park and to go glacier walking or join some tour. It's our guess though that trump card comes with its own price tag, because compared to the other hotels we stayed...
