The property is nice, rooms are decent, and owner's pets are so cute, but overall we felt ripped off, unwelcome, and trapped at this hostel. The food was was really bad, and with zero other options to buy food we felt trapped at this hostel. The check in and check out boats are free but the boat into town costs...

Wasn't sure how to rate this one... The property is beautiful, and the hotel stands on stilts in the middle of the mangroves. You can swim and there's a rope swing which is a blast. But we didn't get a chance to do a ton of research before staying there, so maybe I should have looked into it more first....

arrived in Rio Dulce, and within 5 minutes of mentioning the place, Gary had arrived at the dock to pick us up after having been radioed that we arrived. Very friendly Aussie owner who welcomed us to their riverside wooden cabin lodge/hotel. Gary was extremely helpful, giving us advice on how to spend our time there, where to go, cheapest...

This place gave us bad vibes as soon as we arrived with an extremely cold welcome from Gary's wife who made us feel uncomfortable and imposing throughout. These are just some of the reasons we disliked this place: 1) Gary told tales of his Mexican wife's incredible, authentic cooking but I've had better Mexican food from an out of date...

Very nice location and good food with fair prices. However the female owner is more focused on making profit/doing business than being helpful and friendly. Is not very helpful/flexible where helping guests is concerned. The hotel is based on the river and the hostel charges 20 Q per boar service (per person, one way) so you rather pay or have...

I stayed with some friends down here, and we had a great time. The hostel is in a quiet area away from the city at the waterside. Gary and his wife (the owners) are the best hosts I had so far during my 11 week trip. Every night Gary comes by to ask if people need advise for their travel...

We only stayed for one night but wished we could've stayed longer. The showers are very clean, the owners are nice and the view is awesome. The kanoos are overpriced, but except for that we had an awesome stay. They pick you up and drop you of for free and the nature surrounding the lodge is amazing. PS: don't eat...

This place is located on stilts on the river. You can hire kayaks or you can swim off the deck but otherwise you can sit back and relax. I didn't feel isolated at all. The boat to livingstone picked me up and dropped me off at the hotel. The restaurant served ice cold beer and in stubby coolers yah. The...

The place is really sweet, and the people who work there are helpful and nice. Unfortunately,, the owners weren't there. Food was great. The only reason I give it 3 stars is that it's a bit loud. All the rooms are squished together around the TV lounge, so if someone decides to watch a movie, everyone can hear it. You...

I stayed at hotel kangaroo, in the hostel section, 2015. It's a great place with welcoming owners and staff. However, you should be aware that it is cut off from the mainland. To get to shops etc. you have to take a taxi or the owner,s boat, both at a fee. For a quiet and restful stay, enjoy! I cannot...

“The bungalows were very nice if going as a couple I would definitely get one of those. I stayed in a single room, there are no windows just screens, they are still private but you will hear all the jungle noises and people.”
