The hotel is located in a quiet part of the island, with not much traffic, and is a good hotel for families with children. What we liked: Kid's club is well equipped, the ladies at the club are friendly and kids actually wanted to go back. The staff at the seafood restaurant were friendly. Dinner at the Le Chateau restaurant was great. The cleaning lady, who was looking after our room- Nidhi Bholah was outstanding, ever so friendly, and kind. She went above and beyond her duties. Te Seafood restaurant was good, staff members were friendly and forthcoming. What we did not like: The staff at the Savahan restaurant and at the Italian restaurant were abrupt and not friendly and lacked the knowledge and care. Tips for the restaurant staff were not paid to the staff members but rather kept by the hotel (or so we were told). The wifi is intermittent, with the signal dropping often. Hot water is not always available, especially at about 6pm…
Ehis hotel is strange place. Beautiful amenities, superb food and contradicitons. You are not able to call restaurant, or spa to make reservation, You must go personally and only during working hours. Guest relation staff not fully competent. They do not give vital information. Weird system to eat lunch. Only one restaurant available and You have to make reservation. Friendly staff does not compensate negative impressions. Surely not 5 star service
We had a truly memorable stay at the Heritage Awali. The staff were exceptional and I was impressed with the attention to detail. Special mentions to Pari at the Front desk who was very helpful and welcoming. Davisen and Keshav for the fabulous drinks at Zenzi Bar. Nitisha, Jordy and Chef Aartee for the outstanding service at Savanna restaurant and Chef Harjit Singh at Zafarani restaurant for making us the most delicious and authentic Indian dishes. Vishal the housekeeping Manager for ensuring we had everything we needed during our stay. Tip: * Book restaurants as soon as you arrive * Bring a cardigan as it can get rather windy in the evening during the winter season * Worth giving the Quad Biking at the resort a try if you like a bit of adventure * Make use of the spa as it is fab…
We had a wonderful time at Heritage Awali. We were spoilt to an exclusive lunch and dining experience at AmaFrooty (thanks Stephane) and Infinity Blue (thanks Rohit and Shyama), respectively. Although, every meal we had during our stay was five star quality. We watched the most amazing sunsets at Infinity Blue almost every day. Thanks to Anish for the Flaming Lamborghini, Rohit for the excellent wine, Davison for the Aperol Spritzers and Vanessa for the Piña Colada. Mr Olivier also provided excellent service at the beach and pool. Our room was also very clean and comfy, even though we did not spend a lot of time there. Both the food and entertainment were five star quality. Thanks again, Heritage Awali, for a memorable Mauritius holiday.
We had a marvelous experience during our stay at Heritage Awali. Savannah, Amafrooty, Kuzini and Infinity Blue have very good service and delicious, carefully made dishes! We met two of the chefs and they are truely talented. We had a special lunch at Amafrooty with dishes specially made for us with the best seat and view of the ocean. Thank you Heritage Awali for an extraordinary Mauritius experience.
Travelled here in June 2022 which is a bit of risk because the weather is not always great but we only had one day of rain so pretty good. I suspect the advantage of going at that time is that the hotels and restaurants are quiet so we were able to eat pretty much wherever we wanted. Our room was a garden facing one but the hotel is designed so that you can often still see the sea which is nice. The room was large with a good terrace and the bathroom had a good bath with separate shower cubicle and a walk-in wardrobe. There are a number of restaurants to choose from and our favourite was Infinity Blue down on the beach. The food was great and the location is something else. It seems strange having to book where you want to eat in advance but it does at least mean you have a plan and they were flexible as we changed a few reservations. This may not be so easy in peak season but we had no problems at all. Evening entertainment was provided and most of it was pretty good with small bands playing well known hits. The staff were all friendly and it would be unfair to single out anyone. We tipped as we left and it would have been good to have been given a guide as to appropriate amounts. Just one comment to make, the hotel asks male guests to wear a collared shirt to dinner and to wear closed shoes, not a huge inconvenience and in this type of hotel I would have thought pretty standard? That dress code was regularly flouted and not enforced at all so I can see no point in having the rule.…
Had a great time with friends and family at Heritage Awali. Weather was awesome even in Winter. Staff at amafrooty restaurant is very friendly and the food is delicious. Truly a gourmet experience. Would recommend it to anyone looking for a 5 star getaway.
We had an excellent experience at Heritage Awali. The service is brilliant, food is out of this world, drinks were divine and all staff were so kind, friendly and helpful. A special thanks to the Avinash, Anish and Leticiana at Infinity Blue for going over and beyond in making our son feel so at home! We will definitely be back!
This was our second trip to Heritage Awali, our first trip in 2018 was so good we knew we wanted to return to have our wedding! Yet again we were really impressed with the service from the very friendly staff, they were really good at checking in with us to see that our wedding plans were going smoothly, and to check we had everything we needed. Our wedding co-ordinator Heena (from Le Telfair) was brilliant from the moment we arrived and was always on hand to answer any questions we had, and sort all of the legal requirements for the ceremony. She also helped plan all of the "extras" that came with our wedding package, and helped us alter times etc if needed. Even after the wedding she gave up her time to answer questions, thank you so much for all your time and help Heena! Our wedding ceremony was just as we had hoped (and the weather even held out for our outdoor ceremony, meal and afterparty!) The staff serving us at Gin'ja restaurant were absolutely amazing, we were never without a drink in our hand, they helped us set up our music system and stayed well after closing time to ensure we had had a great party. Thank you so much to every one of you! The rooms at Awali were just as perfect as we remembered, and our wonderful housekeeper kept it pristine throughout our stay. We had a lovely upper room and could see the beach and the coconut hut from our balcony. We managed to get to the spa twice for a massage and would highly recommend going if you can, the staff there are amazing and so professional. We used the heated pool and sauna etc during our stay, you do need to book a slot but this never seemed to be a problem. Since our last visit the coconut shack has gone "tea-total", where before we could enjoy a cocktail here, now they only offer fresh coconuts or coconut slush. This isn't a deal breaker but we had been looking forward to a cocktail on the swings overlooking the sea like we had the first time we visited. When we visited Awali last (Oct 2018) it seemed very much a "honey-mooners hotel" which is partly why we came back, as it seemed mostly adults only. We did notice that there were A LOT of young children this time round, there is a kid's club, so perhaps not a complete surprise, but take this into consideration if you are looking for a quiet, adults only holiday. Lastly, overall we found the food great (especially Infinity Blue, the seafood restaurant). The food (and service) was sometimes a little slow in the Savanna buffet restaurant (we only noticed this during the a la carte lunch service). One evening the food was actually not ready when Savanna opened and there was not much choice when it did, but this was a one-off. I would recommend booking into Kusini (italian) and Safrani (Indian) as soon as you arrive as the food is great and they book up really fast. Overall it is the great staff and beautiful location that made us want to return to Awali, and we thoroughly enjoyed our holiday!…
Everything about Heritage Awali was first class. The rooms were spotless.- they were cleaned daily, towels changed and the mini bar topped up. Everyone made us feel so welcome during our stay and the food was great...plenty choice and the presentation of the desserts was amazing...hats off to the catering team. The complimentary back massage was very relaxing and my back certainly felt better afterwards. The Infinity Blue bar is the perfect place to enjoy a cocktail and watch the sun setting. The guys there made us feel very welcome. Just a little piece of Paradise.
