We have eaten at Soames many times and it keeps getting better. Food is wonderful, especially the steaks, and very good value. Lovely location, with views of forest and Mt Kenya. Friendly and efficient staff. We have never stayed but the cottages look super comfortable.
A good choice on Nanyuki. Wide open spaces with great mountain views. The dozen rooms are a good size, very white, and with comfortable beds. The restaurant is fine, although it does close early. No room service. Eccentric note says if you try and come back after 10pm they won't let you in! Pleasent staff. The pricing is spot on. Good wifi too. Will return.
Visited Soames for a night in November 2021. Booking was easy, through a TC. Had a hiccup in the room with the hot water and the swiftness with which the management sorted us out was amazing to say the least. Very impressive. We had dinner at the restaurant which was really nice, a steak and soup 👍🏽 Breakfast the morning we checked out was A1. Their staff is polite and willing to assist. Check in and check out was smooth. The room was clean and always a plus to have extra comforters for the chilly evening. I have stayed here more than once and the views of Mt Kenya from their rooms are gorgeous. Try catching the sunrise and sunset, you’ll not regret it
We made a last minute booking at Soames and right from the beginning Ibrahim was so professional and quick to help us. His colleague (I think George?) was brilliant too. The cottages were lovely with a beautiful view and the dinner amazing. The team were very accommodating with our request to leave early with a packed breakfast. Overall- it was an excellent stay and I will definitely be back.
Very, very beautiful and serene, clean and good food, Mt Kenya is a beautiful sight from the private patios and lush gardens. The kitchen and bar close too early though, 8 and 8.30 respectively, the staff could be a little more friendlier and accommodating with these timings. Nice place to stay, if looking to relax and turn in early,
What a great setting for a casual lunch. Once we ordered we all went out back by the pond to enjoy the assorted birds drawn to the water and flowers. As soon as the food was ready we became engrossed in devouring the huge portions of scrumptious offerings.
we spent several nights at Soames, before and after our trip to Point Lenana. the hotel is really very nice, the rooms are very big and leave you a lot of privacy. the food at the restaurant is delicious, we enjoyed manly the fish dishes. the wine card is big enough and the cocktail card has definitely something for everyone! the hotel is located outside of the town and is surrounded by a big garden, far enough away from the main road. definitely a place to go back to!!
For the price point they are just selling a view. I came to the place expecting a bit of quality but have I been shocked. Room is regular Bathroom after a shower is a puddle. Service is not great. Breakfast is bare minimum. They don’t even have fresh juice or brown bread. Don’t come with kids. There’s absolutely nothing to do for them. As a couple you would be okay. New Years they had nothing planned. Even a bonfire. The view though is excellent both at Dawn and Dusk.
Soames has some of the best views I’ve seen of Mt. Kenya however, that’s about it. The room we stayed at had a leakage, they haven’t thought through some details and it was a really mediocre experience to be honest. Even the service at the restaurant is super slow. I would recommend it only if you’re looking for great views not if you want a nice hotel to stay at this is not it.
My family and I stayed for 2 nights. Our experience was nothing short of luxury, rest and recuperation. This is a boutique hotel but it's not stuffy (negatively posh). The decor is on point! The rooms are beautifully designed, exceptionally clean (I have severe dust allergies and didn't suffer here), the shower...aaaaaamaazing, the beds were super comfortable, loved the work station, the service is EXCELLENT! - and what I liked about the service is that the staff were fair to all guests (I've been in many hotels where staff favoured foreign guests over Kenyan guests). Wi-fi works perfectly, the food is DELICIOUS! Views of Mount Kenya were wonderful. It was a much needed breath of fresh air and rest. Will definitely be back!
