Don't know if you are serious of not, but there are way too many human traffic in the Canyon Lodge area for bears and cougars to even come around. Count yourself lucky if you even see one at all anywhere in the park.

We thought it was a beautiful walk through the trees. Depending on what time of year you are going, parking at the canyon can be a problem, so walking from the cabins is a good idea. If you want to go to the areas on the other side of the canyon, you will need to drive.
