Overall a decent hotel but was underwhelmed by what I saw of the nostalgic aspects of the hotel. I've stayed at older hotels before and enjoyed the nostalgic, historical aspects of those stays...so I was looking forward to seeing this facility and staying here. I was staying over the weekend to see the Mets play the Reds and the hotel was PERFECT for that purpose...a quick, easy and safe walk to/from the ballpark. I enjoyed that the hotel was adjacent to Fountain Park, which for my generation was made famous by the opening title sequence from 'WKRP in Cincinnati' and as a baseball fan I liked the display case of Reds nostalgia in the lower lobby. While my room didn't have a view, the upper floors did and I imagine offered a fine view of the river and the stadiums. The room itself was a little too basic for me and was a missed opportunity to weave in modern appointments with a nod to the nostalgic aspect of the hotel itself. I've stayed at hotels in DC and in NYC that have art in the room that offers a nod to the local monuments and give you an appreciation for being in that city. This hotel missed that opportunity. The decorations were a bit spartan and while the rooms (and bed) were a little small...it was clean and effectively served the purpose I required. The shower had nice water pressure and was a welcome treat. The hotel itself hugs the lower end of the city block and offers entrances on 3 sides, which is nice. The hotel is a little confusing and difficult to navigate upon arrival, but you learn how to get around. The gym had no attendants, nor towel service, but offered a very wide array of equipment. I will say that the lower level mall with shops made me feel like I was on the set of The Godfather and was reminiscent of some of the scenes in that movie...which for me as a native New Yorker was a very fun thing. I saw many hotels and office buildings like this as a child in the 60's and 70's but haven't experienced anything like this in many years, so it was a nice throwback to a nostalgic, bygone era. When I arrived I inquired about breakfast and that was $44, so thankfully there's a Starbucks and a Dunkin within a 5 minute walk. When I inquired about directions to the stadium from the hotel, the lady at the front desk was unsure and had no idea how to get there, but a senior housekeeper was right there to offer clear, VERY easy directions. Overall, it was a positive experience and I would stay again- but it was a stay with a few modest disappointments.

Hotel's Favourite
We had a great experience at this nostalgic hotel. Winston Churchill stayed here and so did we on a recent trip to the mid west. Our room was on the 24th floor and it was oversized so we had plenty of space. Yes this is an old hotel with a lot of history. Yes it could use some renovating. It may be haunted as it has that feel. Yet we enjoyed our stay and the staff was friendly. Valet parking was 45.00 so be prepared for that. This is an old classic hotel with an old fancy lobby with a lot of history. Not a bad location and easy access to Cincinnati attractions. Not modern enough for some, but with Hilton honors, the price was right.

First time in this area for a show at Duke Energy. The hotel is quick 2 blocks from center, so that was a plus. My stay here was less than spectacular however. The hotel has that art deco charm, and that will buy you just so much forgiving of the imperfections. The hotel knew there was a convention in town and check in was a ridiculous and inexcusable experience. 5pm with at least 30-40 people on line to check in and TWO (a 3rd came later) at the desk to check people in. It was arduous and unacceptable. Not a great start. If you like art deco and old buildings, this is a nice one. The creeking of the elevator to the dim lighting makes it all feel like you're at grannies house. I have no issue with that so for me was fine. The room was small but had what is needed. The bed was comfortable and the pillows a great selection. There was an iron in the closet (a plus for me) and the TV had good choices. There was also a coffee maker and fridge. In the morning I had paid $28 extra for buffet breakfast and that was one of the most disappointing breakfasts I've had in a while. I love breakfasts and if I am paying that much I expect it to be good. I was off to a bad start when I went at 8:45am to the restaurant and there was a sign on the front table advising a 20-30 min delay in being seated. Ridiculous because there were very few people in the restaurant. If I hadn't pre paid I would have left then. I was seated 15 mins later (room very empty!) and excitedly went to the breakfast buffer - eager to find a great one. Instead I was met with 5 chafing dishes with scrambled egg, bacon/sausage, blueberry waffles (awful) and potatoes. Nothing was better than average, Bread selection was a few pieces of 2 types of bread, literally three or four scone like pastries (dry) and nothing else. It was bad. There was a few cereals available, some fruit and salmon at the front table - but that was it. Unappealing, overpriced and suggest you avoid this if you are a breakfast fan. That was my stay - It was just an overnight one but did not feel that for 250 dollars it was anywhere near an acceptable experience.

My wife and I have stayed at the Hilton Cincy Netherland Plaza since before it was a Hilton, or Omni, or any chain. We've always loved the art deco appointments, and have loved eating at the restaurant there. Our last visit was a bit off the mark -- although the room was fine (not perfect, but adequate and clean), and the front desk personnel were helpful, the place was apparently suffering from a lack of staffing. We arrived at 5:15 PM and there was no valet parking available. At check-in we were informed that the linens were "en route," so the room was not ready. It was 45 minutes before we could get into it. When I made reservations for the hotel restaurant a week ago, we chose 7:00 PM, and was offered only bar seatings at that time. After the room scramble, we didn't get to the restaurant until 7:20, and it was almost empty, so I'm assuming the lack of reservation offerings were also staffing-related. (The food and service there were great, as always.) The neighborhood to the hotel is definitely suffering, though the hotel interior seems to still be in good shape. But we're worried that this gem might be showing its age a bit.

Dear jjonesdtrt, Thank you for being a loyal customer. We are sorry your stay did not go as well as you expected. Unfortunately, we do use an outside service for our linens and at times we are put in an awkward position where we are waiting on linen. Again, we are sorry you had to experience this and again, thank you for being a loyal patron.

Well placed hotel in the heart of the city. Walking distance a lot. Had the top floor with view of the football stadium which was okay. Have to admit the hotel did show its age. I think it was build in the 30s. Lots of weird noises, like heat running through pipes and clicking. Rooms still have a lingering of smoke smell mixed with carpet cleaner. Had a King Bed deluxe room. Very standard. Not many upgrades. Even the lamp aside the desk looked like it was from the 70s. I’m on a business trip for one night, so it is doable but, wouldn’t take my family here for multiple days. Not updated enough for us. Staff is pleasant and cordial like most Hiltons. It got 4-stars instead of 3-stars because the staff is so friendly.

This past weekend I and a guest stayed at the Hilton Cincinnati Netherland Plaza from Wednesday-Sunday for a conference. The room (1442) was very outdated and disgusting. The hotel and surrounding hotels were unfortunately booked for double occupancy due to my sorority conference, the MLB home opener and possibly Easter because I was ready to immediately LEAVE. The moment I got there I messaged through the app that the tub was FILTHY! Also the curtains in the bathroom were dirty and looks like blood splatters in some places. The floor in the corners were dirty, the back of the toilet was also not clean. The curtains above the heat/ac vent were filled with dust and the vents seemed to have what appeared to be mold. My suitemate coughed the entire time and refused to unpack her luggage. There was no response to my complaint. Upon my arrival I was in so much disbelief and disgust that I went to the closest Target to purchase extra cleaning supplies, a comforter and rug because the carpet was also disgusting. I then thought, I paid to stay here expecting cleanliness and comfort and should NOT spend my time or money trying to clean/do someone else's job. Also, there was a room service tray in the hall from Wednesday night when I checked in until later on Thursday evening. It was THE WORST stay that I have experienced and WILL NOT entertain the Hilton Brand any more, by choice.

We brought the weed smell home with us. Every time the AC kicked on- it piped weed into our room. I was expecting ‘old’… but this hotel was OLD…. I’m convinced only 2 or 3 of the six elevators were working. The bathroom is VERY small, and there were very few electrical outlets. The gym was great. The Crabtree and Evelyn toiletries are great- though the soap dispenser in the shower was empty. Sadly- everything around the hotel is closed… we were hoping to stroll Saks and Tiffany’s… long gone. I figured we could go up in Carew Tower and get some awesome photos of the view… closed as well…. I read somewhere that there was a shuttle to the Casino, there’s not. They’ll just direct you to the street car. We got to breakfast at 9am on Easter morning and was turned away because ‘breakfast closed at 9:00’. Who doesn’t accommodate their own hotel guests for breakfast? For how much we spent- you could stay at a nicer hotel.

We are so sorry you had such a bad experience. The adjoining building has been sold and is being renovated so the vibrant mall that was there is vacant. We are sorry for the inconvenience of not being able to get breakfast. The hotel does a large Easter Brunch which altered our hours of operation for breakfast.

The standards for service at this hotel have dropped precipitously. Housekeeping emptied trash into room service trays and left them in the hallway for more than a day. Repeated complaints to the front desk had no effect. When I asked to speak with a manager, instead of taking my information, they had me cool my heels in the lobby. Only then was the trash removed from the hallway. I've stayed here many times over the years and recommended it to others. I won't do so again.

Pros: The art deco theming in the dining room is nice and the dining room staff did a good job. The breakfast food was delicious. However, this was the worst stay we've ever had at a Hilton. They did not live up to the high standard that we expect at a Hilton. The parking area was not labeled. Nor was parking information included in the confirmation email. We circled the block twice and then finally blocked traffic to ask the doorman where to park. We still almost missed it because it is in a parking garage that does NOT have the name Hilton anywhere until you get inside the garage. When we arrived at the lobby, there was a line of people waiting to register. One person was registering guests, while 2 others were around the corner trying to ignore the line. There was no separate line for gold (or higher) members. We received no room upgrade for being gold members. The woman who finally checked us in was mad at having to do her job and told us nothing about breakfast hours, location, etc. She just rudely did the bare minimum after her manager made her stop hiding from the guests. The elevator is finicky and shakes as you go up to your room. Our room was disappointing. It was very dated and bare. No pictures on the walls. No microwave. A bathroom that had virtually no space for my toothpaste, etc. The carpet was a bit faded. We ordered food from GrubHub, which we then had to go downstairs and get because no one other than guests were allowed above the 5th floor and no staff would bring it up. We arrived downstairs expecting the wonderful breakfast buffet that we are used to at Hilton, only to find that they don't serve the buffet until 9 am on weekends. Nowhere were we told that information. We ordered a la carte and the food was good, but we were disappointed to not have the buffet. Next time we will choose one of Hilton's cheaper sister properties, because this hotel seems like it is resting on its history and has fewer amenities than your average Hampton.

We are sorry to hear that your stay was not up to your expectations. The hotel is an older building and there are some space constraints in some of the bathrooms. The hotel is currently working to upgrade the amenities we offer. We are installing new wifi with substantially faster speeds and better reception. In addition we are working on replacing our TV's and top of bed package to meet Hilton's new standards. We are sorry our staff wasn't more accommodating upon arrival and check in.

This is a very centrally located hotel for downtown Cincinnati! Nice big rooms and you have to have a key card to get to your floor so safety is a plus!! Room service was on point very good if you don’t want to go out!! The only ding is the parking ! It’s 46.00 dollars a night to park for this hotel which is a lot ! When you are with friends you can split it but one person could get killed on parking alone !!
