I had the Absolute privilege of staying at this location for one week. The staff upon arrival is very warm and friendly and that tone of customer service was met everywhere in the hotel. They truly embodied the Hawaiian spirit of friendliness and always willing to give you great advice on things to do, eat and see. This hotel is within walking distance of the beach and all the excitement of Waikiki and right off the bus line if you choose to take the bus. I would absolutely stay at this property again based on location and customer service. I encourage you to book this hotel For your Hawaiian stay.
Had stayed at this Doubletree by Hilton a few times and each stay has more than met my expectations, including my most recent visit to this property. I love the fact that this DTbH is centrally located, the staff is always so welcoming and who can forget those warm chocolate chip cookies that Doubletree by Hilton is known for; the Hiiking Cafe that adjoins the hotel was also a great place for breakfast. (I forget the owners name, but she does have that same last name as me, anyway---she was awesome!!!)
I’m currently staying here and the hotel is just okay. The staff specifically the valet are awesome! Super friendly and ask us how our day is going. The front desk male employee (didn’t catch a name) not as approachable. It’s close enough to the beach and main things to do in Waikiki. My biggest complaint is they are doing construction. I didn’t see that when I booked on the Hilton app. My husband and I are here for our honeymoon and hate hearing all the noise right outside our window. Like literally right below us. This is something you might need to consider when staying here since it’s going on till September.
This hotel is one of the bright spots of my trips to Hawaii. The hotel staff is so kind and the fact they remember me each visit just makes me feel special. Jungmin, Elsa, and the team at the front desk always are smiling and despite the fact I am miles from home, I feel like I am with family everytime I visit. The hotel rooms are clean and the beds are comfortable. It is the perfect place to crash after long days of working and hiking. The showers are hot and the rooms are cold. I prefer to keep my room cold and it isn't overbearing with the humidity and heat. The valet is back and I appreciate this fact. I don't think people realize how difficult the parking was during the pandemic and I am glad I don't have to worry about someone hitting my car when I'm parked anymore. The valet team are quick and move through the line as fast as they can. The hotel is close enough to the Ala Moana mall and the Waikiki area for those looking for amenities, but is also away from the craziness of Kuhio street. For the guests who come with the Aloha spirit, please be patient and kind to your hotel employees! They are doing their best to make sure you have the best time. I will continue to only book here due to the amazing guest service and familiarity that comes with the team. I do wish Qian hadn't left, but I do look forward to saying hello to Jungmin and Elsa & team when I return this year. Mahalo Doubletree Ohana! - Lee Gibes…
We stayed here for a week in January. We planned this trip for my birthday, for Christmas, our anniversary, and my wife’s birthday. The room was very accommodating, and clean. Housekeeping was exceptional, all you needed to do was ask and they were there to help you. Check in and check out were extremely simple. Unfortunately, there is no self parking on the property, it’s all valet parking. Which can be expensive. We only rented a car for two days, so it wasn’t too bad. The restaurants were OK, but quite expensive. The pool looked to be quite comfortable, we didn’t go in, because we ran out of time. Sitting on our balcony on the 16th floor looking at the ocean was quite nice.
We purchased a 5 night stay at a to be named Hilton property tied to 2+ hour timeshare push at the Waikiki properties. Not a first timeshare sales push but our first time where we ended at a lower end property. The plus is that the Doubletree is very close to Waikiki Brewing and the cafe on the Lower Lobby level is reasonable and delicious. All the staff were helpful and friendly. The pool area is a major disappointment. Although there are lounge chairs and sofas there are no umbrellas for shade. The tile near the pool is slippery when wet. The rooms not facing the street are quieter but view from lower floors is depressing. The bathroom is small. There’s an approx 8” step/ledge into the shower. Step up and slide into the shower. The grab bar is not just for the elderly. Make sure you use a bath mat or you can slip and slide out of the shower…
Rooms are pretty standard. They don't provide lotion or other bathroom amenities in the bathroom other than shampoo and soap. Parking rates per day is $50 and its valet only (no self-parking). Overall, a motel with a good location.
Too far from the beach. Solid 15-20 min walk. If you carry items to the beach (umbrellas, food, water, chair, floaties) a nightmare. Many crosswalks. Travelled with my little one and the distance was not fun. I almost considered getting an uber. It's not far, but when you are carrying a lot of things, it's far enough. Beach chairs and umbrellas are $80 to rent on the beach. I bought a simple umbrella and chair and that worked for me. But the distance of the hotel to the beach its not worth it. Stay closer to the beach if you like to pack a lot of things and have small children. My daughter is 9 years old.
This hotel, while centrally located, needs work. The rooms feel worn and are constantly damp even with the A/C on. The front desk staff always seemed tired and annoyed whenever I checked in, out, or went to purchase a drink (drinks are much cheaper at the 7-Eleven across the street). There is no washer and dryer on location so you can either pay for the service or go to the sketchy laundromat behind the 7-Eleven. If possible, I would stay somewhere else.
I booked my mom a night at this hotel for a long layover. Sadly, she was injured this week and we had to cancel her flight home. Reynold at the property went above and beyond to work with the diamond desk to cancel my booking with no penalty due to the circumstances. He showed great compassion and my family are very thankful. Many thanks for your kindness and understanding, Reynold!
