Reviews summary
This summary was created by AI, based on recent reviews.
Powered by AI

The Pagoda Hotel garners appreciation for its cleanliness and unique charm, even though it shows signs of wear. Cost-conscious guests praise the hotel for its value, underscored by competitive pricing and occasional discounts, albeit with some concerns over hidden fees. Its prime location is frequently highlighted, offering easy access to local amenities. While the staff's friendliness stands out, service can sometimes be hit or miss. The rooms, despite being affordable, often attract criticism regarding upkeep. Amenities like affordable breakfasts are popular, but the infrequency of housekeeping services does not go unnoticed.

We stayed 8 nights at the Pagoda Hotel. We have been to the area in the past and it has gone down some since we'd last visited. The Restaurant is closed for renovations. You can still feed the koi outside the restaurant if you ask for food at the front desk. We had plenty of hot water in the shower; the room was clean; we requested a king size bed and got that (the bed is a little hard); the wifi works well; they only clean the rooms every 6 days, but you can request new towels and toilet paper; we felt safe enough in our rooms to sleep; there is drag racing and loud yelling/talking outside in the evening after 10pm, it was a little unsettling as you can really hear it even on the 12th floor; the parking garage is OK and nearby hotel and Ross (cost $25 a night to park); there is parking outside the hotel but many spots are reserved.

Aloha ryonam728400, Thank you for the detailed review of your stay! We’re happy to welcome you back to the area and glad to learn you had plenty of hot water for showers and a clean room with functioning Wi-Fi. However, we are disheartened to learn your time here fell short of expectations. Our apologies for the shortcomings. With Aloha, Paul Dun General Manager

Room 361 are Outdated. Like the Carpet is clean I’m sure it just you can tell it’s Time to change coz when you step on it stick on your sole the very old carpet and smell too. The faucet, sink, toilet bowl, tables/chairs, refrigerator uneven. Location wise I like it you can walk 5 minutes away to Ala Moana Mall, Walmart and Waikiki like Red Lobster about 10 minutes. I like it. Overall Cleanliness are Great!

Staff are pleasant and helpful. Basic larger room and clean. Very conveniently located to Ala Moana Shopping Center, many restaurants, grocery stores and the beach.
They offer a $5.00 breakfast (good for what it is-) served by friendly staff.
The refrig is spacious, working microwave, and there were cooking elements and a sink.
AC was on the loud side and cycles on and off frequently.
But this was not a cheap stay in June. Weekend rate was $183. and week day $167.
Then there were taxes and fees of over $300 prepaid (Tax recovery 17.9% roughly, and a processing fee of $19.99).
Upon check out, there was a daily Amenity charge of $26/day; general excise tax 4.712%, transient accommodation 10.25% and county TA tax 3%. And we paid for parking at $25/day.
So the daily rate was over $240 when you add the additional fees.
It was expensive for what we got compared to other hotels we have stayed in Hawaii.

The Pagoda Hotel was an excellent value. It retains its charm as an older building, and also has been updated enough to make it very comfortable. The room was and all areas were very clean. The views of the city were nice. And the breakfast was amazing…papaya with yogurt and granola and fried rice with eggs. Yummy. And the ambience of the patio dining area was so pleasing. And then of course is the Koi Pond. One of the best.

Room was selected online although there wasn't an online tour that could of assured what the room looked like before reserving . The room smelled like corn chips and some funky tangy spoiled dip. Had to freshen it up with some febreze and Giovanni Versace cologne oh yes yes! The playstation was an nice upgrade it needs an new controller left an good movie in there hopefully someone will enjoy it. The room and the entire hotel is overdue for renovations all over as well as updated amenities. Almost slipped and fell out of the tub, there is no made in rough surface mat that is needed to assure guests won't injure themselves trying to clean them selves up. The was alot of dust and debree everywhere as well as broken or disabled hangers that can cause major health problems and insurable risks to guests and employees. The windows where needing cleaning and didn't provide an good outlook or view to the ocean or city area. The carpet smelled very musty and a few stains where in there and it seemed contagious as well as an few insects flying around mating on anything they wanted to mate on. The bed was comfy although the sheets and covers smelled like tobacco products felt like I was dumped into an astray next to an filthy trash can. The microwave worked although it was handicapped in remembering how many seconds to heat up my eatable items and it smelled like melting plastic so I threw away my hot food and was forced to buy an tuna sandwich from the convenience store right under my room. The convenience store looked okay from the outside although inside it smelled like there was an power outage, the floors need sweeping and mopping and products properly placed on the shelves instead of the floor that was kinda unsanitary to the fullest degree. Some of the products was out of date and warm when they should of been cold dripping wet. The elevator seemed okay although it was faulty and felt like an amusement park ride with out the seat belt. The roof needs pro sealing.!

Stayed at the Pagoda hotel last night, this place should be ashamed charging $100 a night. It is more like a $50 a night hotel. The website pictures must have been taken with a Snapchat filter because the hotel looks kinda like the pictures, only worse. Hallway and rooms smell musty. Not sure what was going on with the smoke detector, but there was a washcloth over it. The bathroom door was so dirty on both sides. There isn't a chain lock on the front door, and I just didn't feel very safe here. The area isn't the best area either, but it is close to the Walmart. The only reason I gave it 2 stars is because they offer free movie rentals at the vending machine and have a PlayStation 3 in the room. They are also next door to a cool restaurant that has tons of Koi fish. The lady at the front desk gave us food for the fish. There is a mini fridge, microwave, and toaster in the room. We won't be coming back here.

This was one of the worst hotels I’ve ever stayed in. First, the actual property was completely different than what the pictures showed. Everything was old and run down. Then, the check in time was at 4 pm which is extremely late. The only good thing was they let us keep our luggage in their storage closet, and we saw other people’s bags in there too. The wifi didn’t work the first day for “maintenance issues”, and when it was “fixed” it only worked half the time I used it. We asked the front desk for laundry prices and they said it was $2.50 to wash and $.25 per 5 min in the dryer. The laundry ended up being $3.25 and the dryer only worked for 5 min and stopped even when we added more quarters. There was a tiny pool that we went to, but a creepy old man was staring at my daughter the whole time. Overall, our experience was awful.

Check in process was extremely long and not with friendly service. Renting any movies was troublesome! Staff couldn't understand the DVD machine either. Housekeeping came in the room too early in the morning to get us to check out? Called the front desk about it and they didn't have housekeeping out yet. Weird uncomfortable and probably won't be back.

This is a 12 story hotel within walking distance of the Ala Moana mall and Waikiki beaches. This is not a new and modern resort, but the rooms are comfortable and the price is nice. Each room is cooled by a through the wall AC unit. Service from the staff is great. For added security, you need to use your room key to operate the elevators in the late afternoon and evening. You pay for parking which is in a convenient garage across the street. The only thing keeping this from a 5 star rating is the age of the facility. I would gladly stay here again.

How much is the room for 3 days
Answer from S f
Honolulu, Hawaii6 contributions4 helpful votes
My total came out to just under $700 and the guy at the front desk said "ok so your 3 night stay and $100 safety deposit and $20 parking pass comes out to $6?? Altogether" (I lost my receipt) So anyways i waited and kept checking my card to see if they returned my safety deposit after checking out but never got it back. After the 2nd day of waiting i called and was told that sometimes it takes a day or two and the longest will be at least a week. After the week passed i called them back and was told they had never charged me for the safety deposit or parking pass, so i asked "so how i able to stay there without paying the safety deposit ?" and the woman said the payment for the deposit did not go through from the card, so i said "oh but it managed to take the room total for 3 nights?" Even though carlos said "total all together" and i swiped my card only once. I wish i didnt lose me receipt but im never going back to this corrupt place again.
