Nestled near Waikiki Beach, Hyatt Place Waikiki Beach is a popular choice for its prime location close to various shops and attractions. While the atmosphere receives mixed reviews, guests consistently commend the hotel for its cleanliness and friendly service, with special mentions of complimentary beach equipment and breakfast.
However, the value proposition is somewhat tarnished by high additional fees, and street noise can be an issue in the rooms. Despite this, many travelers enjoy the spacious accommodations, although some suggest updates are needed.

The Hyatt Place Waikiki is an amazing mid/budget tier option; you won't be disappointed. I booked 3 rooms for a total of 13 nights and had a great stay. The location is convenient, within 1 block of the beach and walkable to anything on Waikiki.
The hot breakfast is fairly good, I ate it for 3 days and didn't get tired of it. They typically have yogurt, fruit, toast, Japanese miso soup, scrambled eggs, and a rotating starch and protein option. When I was there, they had bacon, Portuguese sausage, chicken sausage, waffles, French toast sticks, and pancakes. The only downside is that they use microwavable pre-cooked bacon instead of the thick cut, freshly cooked stuff.
Rooms were very clean and service was excellent. The water also got hot insanely fast, even on the 16th floor, which is a plus. Upon check in, they give you a reusable water bottle and have live music and lei making classes (by reservation) on some days. A filtered water station is in the lobby. In addition, a microwave is in the lobby with paper plates, napkins, and compostable utensils. The only downside is that the elevators can be slow with a lot of traffic.
The general manager (Ibah Kherati) and front office manager (Dino Besic) accommodated a special request I made via email ~1 month prior to arrival. I highly commend these 2 individuals for their service.
If you are a Hyatt loyalist, they also recognize elite benefits. I had globalist status via Guest of Honor and received early check in at ~1pm and late check out at ~2pm without even asking! In addition, they extended the free valet parking for Globalist on award stays to all 3 rooms, even though I only used a Guest of Honor award on 1 room.
As a Globalist/Guest of Honor, my 3 rooms were upgraded. One room was given an ocean view. For the others, I received "connecting rooms" consisting of corner 2 queen bed with ocean view and corner 1 king with Mountain View. The "connecting rooms" aren't really connecting with a door in between them, they are pretty much just next to each other in the hallway. This wasn't an issue for me but may be a downside for some. In my opinion, the corner 2 queen is the best room in the hotel as you get the extra space of a corner sleeper sofa and an ocean view if you are on a high enough floor.
The convenient location, free breakfast, and recognition of Hyatt status along with the service provided by hotel management make this a preferred stay for me over other hotels and Hyatts in the area.

We stayed at this property for the first 4 nights of our trip to Hawaii and we can honestly say we preferred this over our 3 nights at the Royal Hawaiian hotel. Location is excellent. It was a short walk to the beach, under 5 minutes. While walking to the beach you will pass an ABC store where you can buy your snacks and drinks for the day. It is the same distance to get to the main strip of Waikiki, where you will find all of the restaurants and shopping - we walked there and back every evening with no issues. There is Dominoes on site and there is also a Denny's 1 block away by the Honolulu Zoo. We noticed a small farmer's market on Sunday morning about a block away from this hotel - near the Denny's and Honolulu Zoo. There are also food trucks open each evening directly beside this hotel. You get a $5 per day credit included in the destination fee - if you don't use it , you lose it so we stopped and grabbed drinks for our room each evening when passing by. There is a full bar in the lobby and there is also a microwave with disposable plates and utensils in case you want to heat up any food. The hotel offers beach chairs & beach towels you can pick up daily in the lobby - this is a huge savings compared with other hotels on Waikiki that are charging as high as $100 per day for lounge chairs on the beach. Fitness room was being renovated during our stay. Laundry is also available on 3rd floor $4 each for washer and dryer. Breakfast daily on the 3rd floor. We thought the breakfast was excellent. Eggs, rotating protein, and baked goods such as waffles, banana bread were available in addition to cereal, yogurt, oatmeal, granola, bagels etc. Coffee & tea was excellent and it's provided free in both the breakfast area and the lobby. They also provide 2 reusable water bottles and there are refill stations in a few locations in the hotel. The room was spacious, comfortable and pristine. We were on 7th floor with partial ocean view, the balcony was a good size and we enjoyed sitting outside with coffee each morning. The bed was comfortable, good quality linens and towels. The room also had a large desk, a fridge, a sofa bed, and lots of storage. Bathroom & shower was a fair size & everything was in good condition. Toiletries provided were nice quality. The elevator was a bit slow but we often took the stairs down to 3rd floor during the busy breakfast hour. We did not use the pool but the pool area was nice. Staff was friendly and accommodating, the front desk & bell staff were pleasant & helpful each day. Public parking is available just across the street at Waikiki Banyan for $35/ day. We are Explorist level with Hyatt and we were offered 2PM check out for no additional charge - vastly different from the other property where we stayed which charged $150 for late checkout. After checking out we responded to a Hyatt survey and the general manager sent us a personal reply, non-automated. I was very pleased with the quality & level of service provided at this hotel & look forward to future stays here & exploring the Hyatt Place brand further.

A lot to digest? Read an AI-generated summary of recent traveller reviews.
The upgraded room we requested was spacious, but we had to pay another $30/night after we found the original room that was booked to be much smaller than expected based on the description. The hotel included breakfast and 7-times filtered water stations, which saved us >$50/day. The breakfast was buffet style and included with the room fee, and was ok with slightly different entrees offered every day. It wasn't the greatest of display, but was as good as a Denny's style restaurant where you would expect to pay $20/person for breakfast. The city views are more views of other hotels and apartment buildings across the way. Sadly there are many homeless and drug addicts hanging out in and around the Waikiki area on the sidewalks, beach areas, parks and side street areas despite the tax that HI imposed (a.k.a. Oahu Transient Accommodations Tax = 3%) as part of hotel fees that have done little to address the useless and hopeless homeless population there. We observed people walking on the sidewalks being accosted by the vagrants and overheard loud shouting matches. Anyone with children and who wants to have a safe, fun, exciting and stress-free vacation should look elsewhere. This is not necessarily the Hyatt Place's doing, but it doesn't seem that they are influencing getting rid of the homeless. Sadly the homeless are camped out everywhere in the parks and national reserves, and hang-out on the city buses.

The hotel is in a great area at the far east end of the beach close to the zoo, parks, beach and restaurants. To start with the staff are fantastic and very helpful. They responded to my text before arriving and were there to help when needed. We had a specialty mountain room that was over 400 sq ft with a view of diamond head the zoo, park and if you looked around the balcony you could see the ocean. We got access to beach chairs and towels every day. Tip ask for the Tommy Bahamas chairs! We also had our own larger towels for tbd beach as well as the hotel towels are small. The restaurant were close by but very, very, busy so beware. The cost we found coming from Canada to be high given our dollar but the portions are large. Mia tia was my go to drink and the best one l found was at the monkey pod !!!! A must! The hotel has a car rental that you can pick up a car right there for the day but you will have to return it a few blocks away. Sure beats the parking fee! Just remember the traffic on the highway going through the city at times is stop and go. We also used the Bus which was easy and stops across the street from the hotel! Day pass was only 9 dollars which you can buy at the ABC store next door or 3 dollars cash each time getting on. We took it to Pearl harbour with a little help from the front desk ( bus 40) worked for us both ways. It dropped us off right at the main gate and to return you need to walk out to the main road 100 yards and the stop is right there to your left, again bus 40 brought us right back to the hotel! If you are going to go it’s cloudy, light rain and sunny all day, it appears every just continue with what ever they are doing knowing the sun will so be out again lol!!! The only negative is the breakfast area as everyone talks about. The food is good but you will fight with the wind and birds to eat, tip do not leave your food alone take turns or the birds will get your food! Over all great vacation!

This was my 4th time staying at Hyatt place , this hotel is full of Aloha the moment you walk in , all front end team, concierge and house keeping always said aloha and made you feel part of hotel Ohana .
It was nice to be recognised from prev stays , the room was fantastic, with full king bed not 2 our together like many hotels , linens and towels good quality. The room was large, clean with amazing views only 2 small blocks back from beach, with in room safe and an empty fridge to put your drinks and snacks. And ice machine every second floor.
You will get a reusable water bottle upon check in and free filtered water in foyer , you can also use $5 of your in room credit for food or drink at reception
Breakfast has a good selection with juices and coffees tea etc included in room rate.
In room wifi was also free , fast and no connection issues.
ABC store next door as every corner and domino’s pizza in hotel.
The worst part of my holiday at the Hyatt place was having to leave , I cannot wait to return to a fantastic hotel situated in the most magical place of Waikiki.

We booked this hotel because it was cheap and included breakfast. The breakfast was pretty decent which had a miso station which surprised me. The location is decent, only a short walk to the beach, but on the walk over there was a homeless next to ABC store and smells AWFUL. We were circling around to avoid him. There is only valet parking and you cannot call ahead to have them bring the vehicle. So expect 5-10mins each morning waiting for your car. But all the valet boys and bell boys were very nice and helpful. Some people who stay at the hotel park at the public parking garage across the road, you can save a lot of money but it’s only for sedans and maybe compact SUVs.
So for the bad, first their rooms are extremely loud. Our room was on the 18th floor and the patio door does shut completely so we were getting a lot of road noise. Cars reving in the middle of the night and rooster crowing in the morning.
During our stay, there was a 2 hr blackout. We felt the hotel staff were very disorganized and didn’t know how to handle the situation. We were left sitting in the lobby soggy and in our swimsuits while we waited for the power to come back. After an hour we couldn’t wait any longer to shower so we walked up 18floors with a 3&5 year old. But we got to our room only to find there was no water, but hotel staff only told us there was no hot water. Also hotel staff did not give us flashlights for the staircase, they gave us glow sticks which did not give off any useful light so it was very dangerous to walk up the pitch black stairs.

We originally had a king and sofa sleeper, but with 2 teenage daughters, I upgraded to 2 queen beds with extended space. The room was really large with a balcony with partial ocean and mountain views. The free breakfast buffet was really good, lots of options hot and cold. The breakfast is out on the pool patio and it does get windy and lots of birds are annoying. The staff is helpful and accomodating. The hotel is located about a 5 minute walk to Waikiki Beach. The destination fee includes towel and chair rentals daily, $5.00 daily food and drink beverage credit, discounts on excursions and much more. If you have a car park in the parking garage across the street. The hotel is valet only and it is much more expensive.

5 star staff! This amenities are outstanding including a hot buffet breakfast comp for all guests. They provide beach chairs, boogie boards and towels. The location is 1 block from sand on Waikiki Beach and there are many varied dining options within easy walking distance. They have a lobby bar that offers food, try the chicken sandwich or delicious wings. Rental cars available in lobby and bus stop is right outside. ABC store for supplies is within the block and Dominis pizza is in the building. They have the best staff of any hotel. Everyone goes out of their way to make you feel welcome. Geraldine at reception was outstanding, helpful and personable. Rose in housekeeping was great, and always friendly., and thanks for the free lei making we really appreciated Cheryl our instructor, please thank her for us. This year we booked through Travelzoo and in addition to great room rate we received a $75 food/ drink credit, which we happily used, plus the hotel gives $5 per room credit each day. We stayed here at least 3 times and are ready to book for next year. You will Enjoy your stay at Hyatt Place!!

We stayed here 3 days and Hilton Village for 4 days but we regret not staying here for the entire trip. It was THAT GOOD. Beach chairs and towels were included in the resort fee and since we had a rental car, we decided to drive out to north shore beaches for half the trip and enjoy the less crowded atmosphere along the different areas. It was sooooo nice. The free morning buffet was helpful and delicious! The variety in food was a nice touch and the coffee was perfect. I liked the food trucks and ABC market right outside the Hyatt location and my kiddos really liked having dominos next door to order pizza on one of the later evenings. The front desk was very friendly and attentive, valet were very polite and the rooms were very spacious and clean. Everything was very short walking distance which we completely missed when we moved over to the Hilton. We will always stay here at Hyatt from now on! Dino, the front desk manager, was also very sweet and wrote us a personal email thanking us for our visit. I highly recommend this hotel!!

This property has a disconnect between the font desk and housekeeping, room was not cleaned as per the front desk description. Sheets on bed were not changed on the third day as described by the front desk, Food at breakfast was not special and definitely below the quality of other Hyatt Place locations. They were not able to keep up with the volume of guests. Valet parking was good and they did bring the car right away when requested,
