The Ilima Hotel is a great choice for this price range. Our room was large and clean. The kitchen is great to save money on restaurants. No need to hunt for an ice machine, there are ice cube trays in the freezer. The staff, from front desk to support staff were all very friendly. Our room had been renovated so we had new carpeting. You can walk along the Ala Wai canal under the plumeria trees, or sit on your balcony and watch boats from the outrigger canoe clubs. The hotel supplies beach/pool towels so you don’t need to fill your suitcase with towels from home. The beach is only a few blocks away. All our future stays will be at the Ilima.
We absolutely will be here again and again! The room is huge! The accommodations in the deluxe room with a king and double was perfect for our family of 4 and originally was the reason we booked here, because it’s the only one that offers it. The room was super clean, the lanai was a great size and over looked the Ala Wai. We were excited to have the 16th floor. The kitchen was perfect for cooking breakfast. The refrigerator was clean and ice cold. Yes the decor and walls need some love to up date but it was spotless. A humble home for the 7 days we were there. The staff were amazing and we felt safe and always welcomed. They went out of their way to help us, load our car at times, and added personal touches to our stay. We didn’t want to leave.
Hidden hotel in Waikiki area. Five minutes walking to Waikiki beach. Very nice, big and clean room with small kitchen and balcony. Free parking! I would say much better expirience than many of 4 stars hotels I have been. Pleasant staff, perfect service. But if you are looking for small room with overpriced minibar and expensive parking this is not for you. 😊
5 stars for a budget hotel? Well, it is still a budget hotel so if that isn’t your thing you should pass. We loved our stay and highly recommend to anyone wanting to spend more money on activities than hotel. The rooms have been substantially renovated since the photos here. New carpet, furniture, tile, fixtures. You can still tell this is a 70 year old budget place—the molding is beat up, the bath fan is deafening and the louver windows make a whining sound unless you crack them a little. There are just a lot of advantages for a price that you’d pay at a below average airport hotel back home. The staff is top notch friendly! The parking is free but get a subcompact. There’s a little kitchen and the rooms are mid-century large. Only 3 blocks to the best beach and less than that to lots of great restaurants and shopping. The views from the upper floors are dang good. We used the 200/night that we saved to splurge on beach umbrella reservations , a snorkel trip, shark diving, steak dinners etc.…
Hotel met all of our needs. Room was large and had all amenities that we needed during our stay - microwave, full size fridge, stove top. We enjoyed the lanai and gorgeous views. We stayed in a newly renovated room and I was pleasantly surprised to see that the room had been updated. We appreciated the daily maid service. They do offer free parking which was a huge perk, but beware they the spaces are very tight - even for a midsize vehicle it was difficult to park and open the door to exit the vehicle. Would highly recommend this hotel to travelers on a budget looking for a clean room in a good location.
