Be Forewarned! This "hotel" is a mix between a shelter and a half way house. You are greeted by a front desk person giving you the attitude. Then sent to a room that reminds you back in your college dorm days. Except its more dirty. The doors creeks, the fridge was loud, I shut it off and that flooded my room because apparently there was ice in the freezer. The sheets were full of mold and they even placed a pee pad underneath it! The sheets were so thin. I slept with all my clothes on. I cant believe they were charging $195 for the room PLUS a "RESORT" fee of $17.00!!!!! What resort?! The parking next door charges $40. It's really like being raped from every point with ALOHA. All the positive reviews here are most likely written by their crooked staff. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!
BEWARE: If you have flight cancellations this hotel does not work with you. We had 4 rooms booked for one night, and at no fault of mine, our flights were cancelled out of LAX and we were not able to be in Honolulu for our first nights stay. This hotel was not accommodating to our situation. After several attempts of explaining our situation, staff and supervisors appeared not to care!
This place was advertised as a work from home location but it is absolutely disgusting & infested with cockroaches. Ive stayed in long term stays in O'ahu and I've never had a bad experience until now. The place is infested with roaches, smells bad, there was pubic hair all over the room. The walls are also paper thin and people are playing loud music/being loud in the hallways. Do yourself a huge favor and book something nicer. Your physical and mental health deserve it.
Hi place is so nice and Nykky was like super nice and accomodating, she assisted me all the way down, give me instructions on all the things I need to know. I really love the service. This is my 2nd time here and I will still choose to stay in Monarch when I come back to visit. I find it very clean and
Staying at this hotel was a good choice. Front desk staff was always professional and friendly. This place had everything we needed Decent price for the room. We liked the coffee shop. Fresh made pastries. Pizzeria, restaurant, fresh foods, car rental, big pool. Everything was there in one place Walking distance to the Waikiki beach Music on the street at night Nice location Special thanks to Taila and Vanessa who were so informative and friendly with us during our entire stay
We rented a condo on the PH2 floor. The pictures of this property are accurate, especially the views. They are breathtaking, especially the view of Diamond Head, and the mountains to the north. Unfortunately, that was the highlight of our stay on this property. The location is nowhere near the Waikiki beach, despite what it looks like on Google Maps, and it's barely in the Waikiki district. You cannot safely walk to an accessible entry to Waikiki beach from this location. We had to drive and park at the Honolulu Zoo. The parking is VERY sketchy here. Our rental car was damaged in this dangerously narrow, bi-directional parking garage. We had to prepay in CASH with no receipt, and we were challenged by one attendant because the guy we paid day one did not write our ticket correctly NOR did he record our purchase (or any purchase that day it turned out). We had to track down the owner of the garage to get it fixed. Calling the police to file a damage report from the garage while the car was parked was another "highlight". The Wifi did not work for half of our visit. The AC worked only in the 2nd bedroom, and the rest of the condo had a gap-stop portable unit that worked OK but left the master bedroom too hot to sleep under covers. The pool deck is on a roof, which is great for catching rays, but it's pretty stark. Getting in and out of the building was a chore from the parking garage to the one way street the building is on. Customer service was OK, but only Nicole from the office would respond since our "host" wouldn't respond outside office hours; during labor day weekend, this was a problem. Even if the WiFi and AC worked, I would NOT recommend this property based on the parking garage situation alone. It should also be made clear that it is NOT a short walk to Waikiki Beach.…
Checked in this evening after coming in from the east coast and a 9.5 hr flight. First thing I liked was the courteous staff at the front desk. When I got though the health screening (a long process! be aware), I called the hotel to see what the best way to head over was. They suggested the basics, taxi/Uber/lyft- but told me if I didn’t have a lot of luggage, I may want to try The Bus- the city public transportation. They gave me great directions on how to access the bus from the airport and where to get off. Best part? $2.75 one way! Lyft/Uber was $100 minimum. If you are like me, traveling alone and not in a huge hurry- a major money saver. When I arrived they continued their friendly aloha spirit, getting me checked in quickly knowing I had a long day of traveling. They made me feel very welcome, and seemed excited to share local tips on where to visit write I’m here. The property is a high rise building, made up of hotel rooms, air b and b, as well as apartments with permanent residents. Looks a bit dated but seems to blend in with the island. The room I got is a king size bed- has a table and chairs for a sitting area, flat screen tv, wardrobe, dresser, dorm size fridge and microwave. Nothing fancy but everything worked well and was clean. The ac is a brand new window unit, and kept me cool and comfortable. Bathroom is on the smaller side with the basics, including a large shower. Great water pressure and steamy hot water. Furniture is definitely on the older side but if I wanted fancy I would have chosen a diff property. Despite the rooms being pretty close together, I didn’t hear anything from other guests. Even with the busy street below, it’s quiet. Blackout curtains make it perfect sleeping environment for me. Safely and security is important to me- I feel safe here, elevators require a key entry and staff has been visible. There is q deadbolt on the door. Bottom line- if you are here w family, kids, it’s a bit small and doesn’t seem like a really kid friendly place. But for a single traveler on a quick trip- it’s perfect and I’m glad I found it. Last note- I did pay a $17.50/per day resort fee, which in my experience is reasonable. Watch out for third party websites worth cheap nightly rates- there are often hidden fees that make it worth upgrading to a nicer, more expensive property.…
Tall and ugly building which is a disgrace to Waikiki’s beautiful atmosphere. Rooms and furniture old. Smell weird and if you get a basic room you will always get the worst view. Hotel staff is till times rude and other time nice. It all depends if they had a good day or a bad one Hotel security is fat people only, who wouldn’t be able to chase down a robber. They think they are cops and if You break a rule on their premises, they will just tape a so called Hotel Security “fine” on your door and charge you a certain amount of money from the credit card information the hotel have on file for you Can only give you one advise if you get one of those fine. Block your card before the hotel stay is over. They will first charge you the fine when you check out. Contact you bank and ask if you can dispute the charge. You didn’t authorize a fine to be charged. You wanna know what big crime I committed? Taking my $4000 dollars specialized bike cycle with me up to the room. I didn’t not bother or disturbed anyone with bringing the bike up to MY room, which I paid for! So no I won’t leave my bike with the parking attendant for $10 bucks, while he was laughing sassy at me. And no I Won’t leave the bike locked on the street to a pole. The homeless population in waikiki would have stole that bike so fast so they could sell it for a $20 paper worth of dope. Monarch is cheap. But it is. Don’t go there. Don’t support a company who believe in fines. I didn’t do anything to anyone or made any damages And to y’all who say “but you could just had followed the rules, they are there for a reason” there all I can say is “Stop” ! In Uganda it is illegal to be gay. That doesn’t mean everyone should stop being gay. It’s a bicycle !!! No one get hurt. Plus I been to so many hotels that approved me for having a bicycle with me to my room. So stop yourself . Monarch hotel you are the worst place I been to…
The worst “Hotel” we’ve ever stayed at. More like a Hotel. Yes, it’s really convenient that it’s close to the beach and everything but the rooms were soooooo dirty. Sheets had stains all over them. And the Managers excuse for that was because their charge rate is the lowest in Waikiki. Which is not true. Here are some photos….
This hotel was extremely convenient for me. Just steps away from Waikiki Beach. It is very affordable and it was a comfortable stay. The staff was very accommodating and friendly. The area is great, close to shops, great restaurants, and the beach. Also close to the mall and transportation to get around the island easily. I would recommend!
