Honolulu’s landmark hotel is beside the world’s largest open-air shopping mall, and a short stroll to the inviting waters of the Pacific. Choose from over 1000 rooms, each with free WiFi and either mountain, city or ocean views. Some larger suites also include kitchen facilities. A host of dining options exist within the hotel, including a restaurant on the 36th floor. Ala Moana Hotel also offers nearly 15,000 square feet of flexible meeting space, up to nine meeting rooms and WiFi and satellite conference facilities.

Refurbishment Notice:

Ala Moana Hotel by Mantra will commence a refurbishment of our ground floor lobby, pool deck and landscaping starting February 25th, 2020. The project will be completed over three phases, with the main reception lobby due to be finished by the second week of April and the Starbucks lounge following in the first week of June. Unfortunately the swimming pool will be closed from the beginning of March 2020 until the beginning of June, as we transform this space. We thank you very much for your patience and understanding during this exciting project.

Loved our stay at ala moana. The location is great next to shopping mall and other family activities. Their customer service was amazing as well. Easy check in and check out, we arrived later in evening so slot of the restaurants were closed but their store was open so we got snacks for the room and it was reasonably priced.

Our stay at the Ala Moana Hotel by Mantra was a good one, with a few exceptions. I don't understand why, in the Kona Tower, the lanais are only about 2" wide and the door to the faux lanai only opens about 2" as well. I was under the impression that all of the rooms had a functional lanai....wrong!! The Waikiki Tower had actual lanais. Also, there is not a single USB port in the room and very limited access to electrical outlets. Be sure to bring your charger cords plus the attachment that plugs into the wall. There is no exhaust fan in the bathroom, so everything fogs up when you shower. There is no business center, which means you need to bring your own computer. The buffet restaurant, which just opened, is not worth the $20 they charge. Housekeeping will not come into your room while you are present (due to Covid), but you can schedule a time for them to clean while you are out. I appreciated that. The only ice machine in the Kona Tower was on the fifth floor and it was inoperable. If you wanted ice, you had to go to the 8th floor in the Waikiki Tower. Parking is $34.50 per day/prepaid and you are not guaranteed a parking space. One night we were told to park on the street or risk having your car towed by parking at the lower level of the Ala Moana Mall just across the street. We did get credit for the night we couldn't park in the garage, but we had to ask for it during checkout. The bed was not very comfortable. The room does have a fridge, a microwave and a coffee pot. The room was very clean and the housekeeping crew were very polite and friendly. If you are looking for a place just to sleep and shower, then this hotel is for you. It is close to shopping and just a short drive to the beach.

We booked a Junior Suite with Oceanview for stay from 28Dec'19 to 02Jan'20 for girls getaway holiday.
I am giving this an average rating as this property was below my expectations. The room had 2 doublebeds and barely any space to turn around or place your suitcases. The partial oceanview was blocked by 2 tall high rise buildings and had a side view of the ocean if you peered down the right side of the balcony. The bathroom shower was mouldy and the drain was always clogging up. The cleaning lady was elderly and looked extremely unhappy. She would not even greet us or respond to an Aloha. Overall the rooms were below average for the prices they charge.

This hotel has access to the mall and Waikiki beach is a good walk of 15-20 mins. There is a Starbucks in the lobby and a Signature steakhouse on the 36th floor. No other restaurants around. They serve a daily buffet breakfast at the Plantation cafe in the same hotel which is quite good. The servers were friendly and pleasant ( especially Deb, Ariel & Heavenly ). For Tours & Activities, there is a Expedia travel agent by the frontdesk. Please book directly with the Tour operators. The charges for the activities here are slightly higher and this is the first time I was pressured to pay the Travel agent a tip for just booking Tour activities. This is unheard of, so it did not sit well with me and my friend even though we tipped. If and when I go back to Oahu, I will not be picking this property again. The front desk were friendly.

The rooms are very small, with only a double bed. Rooms were dirty, and couldn’t even fit an open suitcase on the floor. The pool is terrible, don’t be fooled by the photos on the website, it looks bigger and nicer online. We asked if we could pay for an upgraded room because the one we were given was horrible, and we had just got engaged, however they wouldn’t let us change rooms. Long walk to Waikiki, with nil access to free shuttles. For the same price/ cheaper you can stay at Ohana East on wakikki, which is in a better location, bigger and nicer rooms and beds and includes free shuttles to Ala Moana.
If you are a young couple or family (especially from Australia) please do not stay here.

We booked a weekend staycation to enjoy some entertainment and shopping in town. You can't beat the location. Ala Moana hotel is located just outside of busy Waikiki, next to a beautiful outdoor shopping mall and across from one of the most iconic beaches in the world. With shopping, dining, entertainment and world class beaches within walking distance the value for money can't be beat. We booked directly through the reservations department on the phone and got through to a local operator and agent right away. We checked in quickly, and even got upgraded because the hotel was still at a lower occupancy because of COVID. The staff and management took every precaution to make sure we were safe, and we noticed how clean and well cared for the rooms and common areas were. The pool deck was recently renovated and included beautiful cabanas, lounge chairs, couches and fire pits. All were open and available first thing in the morning without reservations or waiting. The fitness center is a workout junkie's dream, outfitted with all new equipment and several stations to avoid waiting. Finally we were able to get great food on site at the DADA cafe, and quick bites at the Starbucks coffee shop in the lobby. Most of our meals were eaten at the Mall next door, with dozens of great places to chose from. At this price, we would definitely stay again and encourage all our friends to do the same.

Great location next to a major shopping centre. Open most days 9-9 so teenage daughter shopped throughout the day whenever we were home. Beach close by and a marina to. Took about 20-25 mins walk to Waikiki or $5.50 adults and $2.75USD up to 17 yo for all day bus til 3am the following morning. Felt very comfortable with kids going off together and very safe during the day. Happy hour on the top floor for the parents as no kid over 21 so was only beneficial to us. Took a room with 1 bedroom so separate room to sofa bed and kitchenette bit we had a bar fridge and microwave so sufficient to have our own space. Well worth the money. Beds super comfy and pool was fantastic also.

It was my second long-term stay here, so I had an idea of what to expect. It's a very busy place with tour groups and airline crews and conventions, and the reception staff are a bit jaded, so don't expect a warm aloha welcome whenever you have an inquiry for them. I learned to avoid them.
Happily, the hotel doesn't charge a "resort fee," as many others in Hawaii do.
The Ala Moana shopping center is a few minutes' walk away for your browsing/strolling/window shopping needs. During the holidays there are music & dance performance by local schools and groups in the atrium. The food court is outstanding, with an international selection to choose from. For self-catering, there is a big Foodland supermarket as well with a big deli section a la Whole Foods. There is a trolley bus that can take you to Waikiki beach for $2, exact change needed.
Besides the mall, the appeal for me is the proximity to Ala Moana beach park across the street. A nice place for a morning jog or a stroll to see the sunset.
The hotel itself is a bit dated, with inefficient elevators and parking garage equipment. The garage is dingy and spaces are scarce if you arrive too late in the evening. The gym is well-equipped, with wet and dry saunas, if they're working.

Rooms are little on small side, but I didn't mind it. The Hotel staff is amazing and quick to help if you need it. The (included in my rate) breakfast with fresh custom made eggs in the morning is nice.Walking distance to many restaurants and beach area. It is very next to Ala Moana mall.

We had a room on the 22nd floor. It was spacious and clean and the service was great. We had a nice view of the ocean although it was obstructed with other high buildings. The Ala Moana Mall being attached is a nice plus if you like to shop. And the rates were about $100 a night lower than a lot of the hotels on the Waikiki Beach strip. And downtown Honolulu and Waikiki Beach are only a short drive/bus ride/taxi/Uber, away.

I stayed here for a conference. The "group rate" was advertised with their breakfast buffet, but when I went in the morning the staff announced that it was going to be $25 per person. I figured this may be a mistake, so I asked the front desk. They informed me that the buffet would be $18 per person.

While waiting in line to speak with the desk, I saw that on Hotels.com, the same room with breakfast was the same price I had paid. Upon speaking with the manager, he refused to honor the lower price, and told me I must book the room right there and then on my app. I started doing this, and he sent me to the back of the line.

upon speaking with him again, he said he would call me in a few hours, and there would be no need to change rooms. After lunch they called me demanding I march down to the front desk to "check in and check out" I didnt have time to do this, so I will be disputing with my credit card.

See ya
