Nestled near the picturesque Waikiki Beach, Waikiki Resort Hotel emerges as a place of good value, celebrated for its spacious rooms and prime location by many guests. While the hotel's amenities and cultural activities are met with approval, there is a consensus that updates are needed, from the basic breakfast offerings to the room decor. Cleanliness is a strong point, with commendable housekeeping, although the atmosphere occasionally suffers from noise. Service experiences vary, with some staff members receiving high praise, while others fall short of professionalism.

Nice hotel and close to the beach. A little noisy at night with the emergency sirens, but expected as its close to the main road/beach. Staff are very friendly and helpful especially the front reception who are very accommodating with needs when checking in a little early. Also, the hotel has machines that supply filtered water so no need to purchase bottled water. The front of the of the hotel looks lovely especially in the evening with the lit tiki torches and fountain. And, the front of the hotel has no doors! Open concept which makes it more welcoming.

This hotel in the second row from the beach is already very old; nothing here is even remotely contemporary. Only the flat-screen TV and a modern alarm clock with USB chargers on the bedside table in the room and an ATM in the lobby remind you that it is 2024 outside, otherwise a family soap in the 60s atmosphere could be filmed here with complete conviction. And when tourists in the lobby try to imitate swimming fish with wave movements of their arms during the "free hula lessons", you definitely feel like you are in the middle of the film "Dirty Dancing".

Ugly corridors, room doors painted over ten times.

The room welcomes the guest with darkened yellow wallpaper, worn carpet and ancient furniture that could basically be thrown out with the bulky waste without a second thought, it looks so old-fashioned without being retro chic. Air conditioning, electrical installation - everything is yellowed and old-fashioned. Table lamps that are difficult to operate. The bed is extremely comfortable and the furnishings are fine.

Open to the room is a small area with a washbasin and shelf area and space for suitcases; the adjoining mini-bathroom only has a toilet and an old tub with a shower curtain.

Each room has a small balcony, the view of the buildings opposite or not very attractive interior areas is modest.

The rooms are of course not soundproof either; the noise from the air conditioning, music and noise from the nearby beach promenade, a constant subliminal drone, are included.

But of course you can stay here well if you want to live centrally and are not prepared to invest a large fortune in a few days.

You practically fall out of the door onto the bustling promenade on the beach, there are restaurants, bars and shops right on the doorstep.

The house also offers a few additional services; there is a mini-market in the lobby, a car rental service and a tour desk for booking excursions. Water dispensers are in the lobby, also on the 2nd floor, as well as microwaves and a drinks machine. Beach towels are issued without a charge.

The pool is very small, not worth mentioning.

A complimentary "continental" breakfast is offered between 6:30 and 9:00, a nice touch, but of course you should keep things in perspective. There is toast and bagels, mini plastic jam packets, rubbery boiled eggs, a few sweet pastries, waffles, sliced fruit and porridge.

The location of this hotel is perfect: 150m from Waikiki Beach, close to restaurants, ABC Stores, Kalakua Avenue. On Koa Avenue, you are at the center of everything.
25 minutes from the airport, the taxi will cost you in the 60 dollars one way.
In the Inn, First car rental agency does its job perfectly.
Returning to the accommodation, this Inn is a 4 star, but at the base of the scale. Its immense asset is its location. Otherwise, parking is $40 a day, the American continental breakfast makes a little smile, even if the fruits are often good. It's like a corporate cafeteria. A fountain is available in the lobby, at will, there are toilets where they are needed. The staff is not very competent. Justin in the guy. For the others, they know nothing about anything: no need to ask them questions At the bell desk, there is an old man who knows everything. Perfect to order you the right taxi that fits well.
The laundry room at the garage level is very convenient. Wash and dry will cost you $2.50+2.75.
Question room, even if quite old, it does its business: air-conditioned, generous space (deluxe room), bathroom with bathtub (which showers), TV (like 25 inches) with all channels...
However, the soundproofing is by far not perfect. Even on the 10th floor, you can still hear the nightlife.
Room service is impeccable, but don't make the mistake of leaving things lying around, they could disappear.
In short, you where you need it, but for luxury, you will still have to pay a little.
We're still in the $240 a night... but it's probably the cheapest in Waikiki in the middle of the season, so... not a bad choice.

The hotel gets 3/5 points because of its location (which would be 5/5 - only 2 minutes to Waikiki Beach) and its spacey rooms. However, the breakfast organisation (not the breakfast itself) is the worst, I‘ve ever experienced in a hotel. A total mess, very unfriendly personnel shouting at people when they try to get a table in the table fight ongoing between 7.30 and 9am. As every guest just can get in and grab a table in this much too small breakfast room, this can be titled as „table war“. The hotel should only leave guests in when there are free table and the hotel personnel should not shout at people who try to catch one table just because they are too slow to clean the mess from the previous guests.

Prime location in Waikiki - one block, 3 min walk from the most central part of the beach. Tons of restaurants, shopping, entertainment....in walking distance.
Lobby big and seems renovated, pleasant to sit for a while. Check in pretty fast.
Hallways and rooms are dated as many said, but at the same time have everything you need working properly. Room with 2 dbl beds served good for 3 of us. Decent balcony with side sea views was pleasant to sit and relax, however strangely smoking not allowed on balconies (seems it's a state law, not hotel policy).
There's a pool on level 2, but who needs it with Waikiki beach a stone throw away.
Breakfast is pretty basic, but surprisingly had excellent fresh fruit choices each morning (blackberries, raspberries, mango, oranges...), and a waffle machine. You can pay for hot breakfast in Ilima cafe which we did not, as it comes around 20$ pp.
Parking is paying 42$ per day with tax in May 2024, unlimited in and out. Pricey, but you have no other option in Waikiki (around is even more expensive).

To conclude, we booked this hotel around 6 months in advance on free cancel option for a good price of around 220$ per night for 3 of us. Over that time, regularly checking, I found no better option in terms of location and value for money.
You don't come to Hawaii to sit in your room, so neglect the dated look fact. We used our room only to sleep and were all day out exploring.

Mahalo for your kind review! We're glad you enjoyed the prime location and convenience of our hotel. You're absolutely right, with Waikiki Beach just steps away, the location is hard to beat. We noticed you mentioned the upgraded breakfast option at Ilima Cafe. Did you know that all guests receive a 50% discount? That could be a great way to save for those looking for a more hearty breakfast experience. Mahalo nui loa for choosing Waikiki Resort Hotel! We're happy to provide a clean and comfortable space and we hope to see you again soon.

My rating is based on the room I stayed in which was the superior studio. originally I booked a regular 2 double bed but we accepted the upgrade when offered. The check in process was great the staff was very friendly and always in a happy mood. The cleanliness was always great make sure to leave your daily tip :) the value for the location is worth it personally, 5 min walk to the beach, beach towels provided daily, lots to do within walking distance. Surf bar in the hotel has great atmosphere friendly bartenders ended our night there pretty much every night after our daytime activities. Breakfast on 2nd floor and vouchers for the ilima located in the hotel lobby. Personally we preferred the 2nd floor breakfast there was more variety. The room has iron, blow dryer, AC the water pressure was great for us no issues there. The only day I had trouble sleeping through the noise was on Friday morning but that was our last day so it wasn't horrible, still I suggest buying ear plugs if you're a light sleeper the buses literally started at 3am that day no clue why. Mahalo for your hospitality:)

What a great hotel. I stayed here for 2 weeks and loved every minute. First off, the location of the hotel is excellent - within 2 city blocks of the hotel there are at least 20 different places to eat or buy groceries. The walk to the ocean is 2 minutes or a city block. The hotel lobby itself has an ATM, a store selling snacks, clothes, sundry items and alcohol, and a car rental. The hotel hosts an excellent concierge to assist guests with excusions. The hotel offers an excellent continental breakfast - fresh fruit (for example, pineapple, berries and melon), hot and cold cereals, cold meats and cheeses, fresh juices and coffee - an excellent value and reminiscent of European continental breakfasts. The staff are warm, helpful and knowledgeable. Daily housekeeping was superior. My room was super - I would recommend an upgrade to an ocean view and ask for a -18 room (for example, the fifth floor would be 518) for a superior ocean view. I have been to Oahu over 20 times and the Waikiki Resort Hotel will be my new home base. Superior location and excellent value. I can't recommend this hotel enough.

Excellent hotel service and outstanding staff. Sherrie at the reservation department and Farrah at the front desk were exceptional. They were professional and very concerned that my family and I received accommodations that supported our family needs during our 10 day stay. Waikiki Resort Hotel location in Waikiki, the very competitive price, outstanding customer service makes it an idea place for a family to vacation and relax. I highly recommend Waikiki Resort Hotel for your stay in Hawaii.

I booked and paid (almost $200) for our standard room online and was unpleasantly surprised to be told at check-in that we owed another $50 for the “amenities.” These mainly included the free continental breakfast and WiFi. (Activities like ukulele lessons and beach yoga a) didn’t interest us and b) seemed to only be available at other times of the week.) The total of $250 seemed high for the room itself, but this is a very pricy area, hotel-wise. It’s just a 5-minute walk to the storied beach and surrounding nightlife. Once upon a time, the hotel must have seemed stylish. Today nothing was actively bad. Our room was clean and comfortable, if a trifle exposed to noise from the hallway and elevators. On the plus side, the “free” continental breakfast offered more choices than many do.

Thank you for your feedback on your recent stay. We appreciate you taking the time to share your experience. We're glad to hear that you enjoyed our location and found the room clean and comfortable. We're also pleased to know that the continental breakfast exceeded your expectations. We also appreciate the opportunity to address any confusion around the daily amenity charge. In addition to WiFi, pool/beach towels, continental breakfast, and the filtered water machine in the lobby, guests also enjoy access to numerous daily activities as part of our Cultural & Wellness program. Beach yoga, sunset meditation, hula dancing, lei-making, ukulele lessons, and more are all included. As you correctly point out, Waikiki is generally an expensive location. Many of our guests choose Waikiki Resort Hotel because our property tends to be a much better value than many other nearby options. Thank you once again for your valuable feedback. We appreciate your support and hope to see you again soon.

This is our 36th time in Waikiki and for the last nine years at the Waikiki Resort Hotel.
My wife and I are both retired and we were looking for a place to call home away from home for a lengthy period of time (4 months) in the winter. Over the years we have stayed at a few different hotels and none has pleased us as much as the Waikiki Resort Hotel. Best value as you simply can't get the same at a better price: spacious rooms (for us it's the corner deluxe studio suite) with some great views, free WiFi, complimentary breakfast, and very well maintained, convenient laundry facilities on site. The Waikiki Resort Hotel also provides the most advanced filtered water refill stations and access to microwaves for their guests. And... location, location, location! The Waikiki Resort Hotel is very central to many attractions, shopping, restaurants, entertainment, beaches, parks and is next to public transportation. The staff is very welcoming, patient and helpful. Housekeeping is fast, efficient, thorough and very friendly.
A very special Mahalo to An, Adam, Branden, and Melanie for their total commitment and dedication to make our long term stay very enjoyable. 😊
