I'll start with the pros: The front desk staff is very friendly and helpful. There is lots of storage space in the rooms - 2 large closets, 2 dressers. Lanai - some have great views, and they are shared between 2 rooms. My room also had multiple power strips and a laundry basket. Free breakfast - good coffee, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, fruit, bagels and bread. Sometimes coffee would run out trying to get some on the way out the door (long before breakfast ends). You could wait for them to make more, but if you're going to work then no coffee! Occasionally they will put out cinnamon rolls or waffles, which is always a good day! The hotel is very close to the hospital, so if you're working there it's an easy 5 minute walk.

Next for the cons: The wifi is incredibly slow. A download that would take me 10 seconds at Starbucks would take an hour here. Hence I went to Starbucks a lot for wifi. You also have to login every time and your login expires after a week, so you have to make a new one. I'm not sure what the housekeeping staff does. They will make the bed and take out trash if you're lucky. Even when bringing up specific concerns to the front desk they would not do them. There are only 1 washer/dryer on each floor, so sometimes it's hard to get a load in with everyone in the hotel doing laundry. The rooms also just feel damp and musty all the time, but maybe that's just Hawaii.

A couple comments on problems that other people had, but I did not: some people complained of bugs in the room and not being able to plug the tub, but I did not have those issues in my room.

InterContinental Hotel Group (IHG) is the Holiday Inn chain of hotels. If this place is owned and run by IHG, then it is not up to standard. I usually like to stay at military lodgings when I travel when available. I stay at hotels for a safe, clean, and comfortable place to sleep. This place is safe, clean, and comfortable. The staff is friendly. Their continental breakfast was okay if the items they offered was replenished when empty such as eggs, yogurt, breads, etc. The coffee was cold and had to be warmed in the microwave. The view of Honolulu from our room made up for a subpar breakfast.

The building is very old but was remodeled at some point. We had suite 14 A&B on the first floor with living room, a bedroom with 2 beds and a bathroom in the middle between the rooms. They have free continental breakfast and free parking and free wifi and free washers & dryers. The living room has a door going out to a large patio with a table and 4 chairs. It overlooks Pearl Harbor and a tiny bit of the city. Triple medical center is just below this IHG hotel. Now the the things that need improvement: beds are not comfortable and squeak loudly, there was no maid service for the 5 nights we were there however they would bring fresh towels and take the trash if we called the front desk, no one vaccumed the halls while we were there and a large roach was in our room. IHG needs to improve everything in this hotel. The price was high at $129. per night plus $18.00 taxes per day. We would have stayed at another military place on the island but they were full.

Our stay was due to a PCS move. We started out in a one bedroom handicap room...it was not the most desirable place to stay not due to cleanliness but due to upgrades and broken shower head, but I believe they are now working on that room. Within the first week, we moved across the hall to a very nice room. It has a bedroom, updated bathroom, living room and deck. The entire building is VERY clean. The housekeeping staff does an amazing job cleaning every day. They cleaned our room frequently, checked with us daily to see if we needed anything, and became aware of our needs and wants and would preemtively help us out. Emely and Lyn (our housekeepers) could not have been kinder and more helpful. We would definitely stay here again and hope to do so on our way off island at the end of this tour.

My husband and I came to O’ahu to spend 2 weeks with family stationed here. With the average hotel around $280 a night, staying on base (husband retired army) was a no brained. What you give up in luxury (and you did give up luxury) you make up in space. Two rooms, one a bedroom with 2 double beds, one a family room with sofa, desk and small table, joined by a bathroom. Free breakfast daily, simple but saved us $30 daily. Limited choices included either scrambled or folded omelette eggs and a breakfast meet, oatmeal, dry cereal, bagels and some muffins. Coffee and juices were available as well. The rooms feel dark and are a little musty but again we paid 1/2 what we would elsewhere and stayed 2 weeks. No complaints. Comfortable bed and clean towels.
Barracks styling meets hotel. 🫡

Everything is excellent at this hotel. Staffs service, free parking, free full breakfast, spacious rooms with all the amenities, location (few minutes to anywhere in Oahu) and
most af all very reasonable price. I'm retired military and this is the place I recommend to my fellow retirees if you have your own transportation and you are not really in to fancy accommodations.

I PCS'ed to Tripler in June and made a 2 month reservation in February. In the middle of May, the hotel contacted me and told me that they would not be honoring my full reservation as they were full....So they took it upon themselves to book me at another hotel without consulting me. When I arrived, I asked 3 different people to confirm that I was booked SOMEWHERE for the entire time I had asked. Nobody seemed to be able to do that and I kept hearing that they would call me, which they never did. Of course, there wasn't a reservation and now I don't have a place to stay for the rest of my transitional period. Each time I asked somebody at the front desk they were either not helpful or out-right rude.

Roaches, lizards and ants in the hotel room. I know it's Hawaii, but the amount seemed pretty excessive.

"Continental breakfast" is cereal and bagels.

If you work at Tripler and are waiting on your car to get to island, I could see choosing to stay here only to avoid transpo issues. If that's not the case, avoid this place. Like many other military contractors, they don't care about providing customer service - and they make no attempt to hide that fact. Unfortunately, they will continue to rip off military members (and taxpayers) without any repercussions. Take your TLA to Waikiki.

After reading the limited reviews we questioned whether staying here was going to be a mistake.... So we emailed the General Manager Roy Yamane after booking but prior to arrival with our questions & concerns based on posted reviews.

Roy promptly exchanged emails with us and felt confident in his teams abilities to meet the needs of his guest. We had questions and Roy had answers. Currently we are on night 4 of a 5 night stay and have had a very positive experience.

This hotel is a great value based on price, room size, continental breakfast, free parking, no resort fee, friendly staff and view of "City Lights." The hotel is clean, the staff takes pride in their jobs and are very friendly. They are attentive and want to assist as needs arise. Bugs were not a problem as we saw two ants during our stay and the hotel utilizes Orkin Pest Control as listed on the February calendar.

This is not our first visit to Hawaii and we stayed at two other hotels during this vacation as was our plan. Neither of the other hotels offered free breakfast of any kind, free parking, two room suites and an unobstructive view.... Not to mention they also charged a resort fee which is now the norm but not charged here.

Yes, the two room suite with bathroom in the middle is a little dated and the trashcans outside the entrances will not hold all of your trash and housekeeping is "non-traditional" with daily & weekly housekeeping clearly defined under their "Green Engage" help the environment program. The short walk to the dumpster in the parking lot beats paying $300 per night hands down!

All in all it was a very positive stay and we would stay here again in a heartbeat. Thank you for a wonderful stay IHG Tripler AMC Staff.

I wish I had been fortunate enough to had seen a room or building before booking. I can honestly say this is the worst and nastiest place I have stayed in my entire life. They have a horrible roach infestation. So much so that I left the lights on during the night to help keep the little things away. I wish I was kidding! I killed probably 5-10 during our 1 night stay and saw many live and dead ones everywhere, even in the main hallways. This place is an embarrassment to the military. I will say, I have stayed in many military hotels and know not to expect posh amenities or service. As soon as the sun was up we were gone from this place. Thinking back on it I cannot believe we actually stayed the night in that nasty place. We had just arrived to Oahu doing a PCS here from across the country and were so tired and worn out. I do not understand how this place has gotten to such a poor state and that they still book rooms to military members. When I read reviews on places like the one I just wrote I normally take it with a grain of salt thinking that the person writing was just blowing it out of proportion...but this was our experience. I also never mentioned this to management because I felt it was useless and there is no way they are that clueless about the room and building conditions. They obviously had someone on "roach patrol" because we would notice that the dead ones were gone from hallways at different times. Don't book this place. I really wish I had taken pictures to have posted with this.

We had a very nice stay here at the IHG lodge at Tripler AMC. It is in an older building, but it has been well maintained. The suite we had was very comfortable and the amenities were quite good. It is positioned right on the Tripler campus, so we were able to take advantage of amenities there, too. The location made it easy to access sites on Oahu. Staff was welcoming. Would certainly stay again.
