We came from Australia and New Zealand where the level of hostels seems to be much higher. So this felt like a huge jump down! Reminded us more of Thailand than a Western country hostel. But its cheap. Very cheap for Hawaii. It's one road from the beach. $20 gets you on a day tour (they run a west, north... More

Great location! Nice staff, very helpful & inexpensive tours daily. The place could be a bit cleaner but for the low cost it truly can't be beat! Free pancakes for breakfast & parking is only $10/day but there is close by free street parking. Surf boards rental is $10 and they have quiet time after 10pm so no noise issues!

Stayed our one and only night in a private room. Dirty towels, dishes, sheets, and floors. Customer service was okay but not friendly. Did not live up to the great reviews others wrote. Very disappointed. Big waste of money.

We have stayed at Polynesian Hostel a number of times. We love that it is located only a block from the ocean and the beach, next to the zoo, nearby a number of great reasonably priced restaurants, bus lines that can take you anywhere including around the island and North Shore. Hostel often offers tours around the island that cost... More

My wife and had a 1 night layover in Honolulu and decided to stay here. The location is great, less than 100m to the beach and the main strip. We had a private room with a shared bathroom which wasn't amazing but adequate for a hostel. We also had to walk through one of the shared bedrooms to get to... More

Thanks to Grandpa and the crew for a great stay! The tour to the north shore was amazing and kayaking, too. Everyone was friendly and helpful. The location is excellent, with Lulu's bar right around the corner and the beach only a few steps away. There are lockers in all the rooms and the gates are locked at night, so... More
