Overall, I enjoyed this hotel very much. Although the rooms are on the smaller size and twin beds are different from the queen beds in many hotels, as a single person traveling I was comfortable. The AC worked great, there's coffee in room and housekeeping service is good. I particularly liked the washer and dryer for guests as on day 3 I was ready to do laundry. They provide soap pods and dryer sheets at NO COST. This was really one of the highlights as a business traveler. They also have coffee downstairs with cream, flavored creamer and sugars. The only complaint is they use single serve coffee pods and living in Hawaii part time, this is not good for our island! The lounge is nice and peaceful for relaxing. Staff are GREAT! Everyone was smiling and hospitable. Within walking distance to the beach, nearby hotels, restaurants and shopping.

Mahalo nui loa, Jennifer, for taking the time to share your positive rating and review. We are thrilled to know that you found exceptional value in your overall experience, and we hope that the happy memories you made while staying at our hotel will bring you back for a well-deserved, fun-filled vacation next time around. Mahalo for mentioning our coffee pods. We are very interested in pursuing more sustainable practices in our operations, and we are presently looking into bio-degradable coffee pod options. Additionally, our management team is attending sustainable tourism training, and we are looking forward to learning how we can best implement these environmentally-conscious initiatives at our property going forward. Mahalo again for your valuable insights. We look forward to seeing you again very soon. A hui hou, Carolyn Ncube General Manager Stay Hotel Waikiki

If you're looking for somewhere expensive to rest your head in a great location this it. We spent minimal time in the hotel as we were out doing tourist things but it served it's purpose, only downside it just cost an arm and leg. Staff were very friendly. Room was rundown but didn't bother us. Most tourist tours pick up from behind the Hyatt Waikiki which is on the same street as Stay so that worked out very well.

Comfortable room and terrific staff. Great location, dining and shopping nearby. Just a block off of Waikiki Beach. Friendly, helpful staff were the best part of this visit - quick to offer suggestions and tips! Beach toys and bodyboards to borrow on the honor system. You are downtown so there is traffic and construction noise. This hotel does not offer the five-star luxury resort experience; however, it is comfortable, safe, and affordable. Special thanks to staff Kit, DoAnne, and Ester!

Mahalo nui loa, Jennifer, for taking the time to share a positive rating and review of your recent visit. While we may not be a five star all-inclusive resort, we are very proud of our five star luxury guest service. Our Stay 'ohana are great ambassadors of aloha, who are always happy to share the best local tips on all of the best things to see and do on our beautiful island. We will be sure to share your kind words of celebration with them. We hope that the joyful memories you made here will inspire another trip to "paradise" very soon. Not only is this hotel perfectly located near the Waikiki Beach, Duke’s (must try restaurant) and shopping area, but the customer service was the best we’ve experienced on a vacation. Rence (front desk) was the nicest and most accommodating person to represent this hotel’s first impression when checking in. We have traveled to Hawai’i three times now and have stayed in Waikiki each time and this hotel has been the best overall when considering location and price. Highly recommend and will definitely choose this hotel again!

Total dump..I don't know who would be insane to give this place more than one star. Dirty, slow service. They advertise there's no resort fee but throw in a random 11$ fee for what?
Major regret but luckily only here for one night. Better take your business to any hotel down the street and for 20-30 more you can stay somewhere decent.

Aloha Daniel, Mahalo nui loa for taking the time to share your feedback. We appreciate opportunities to hear how we can improve our guests' experiences. Waikiki is a unique destination market where nearly all hotels charge what is called a daily amenity fee, which is synonymous with what our online travel partners call "resort fees." Due to the pandemic, our amenity fee is actually discounted at only $10 plus tax per day and covers guest conveniences such as beach towels, recreational beach equipment, coffee service, newspaper service, DirecTV with premium channels, WiFi, and use of our business center. Most hotels in our market charge upwards of $15 plus for the same amenities. I have brought your comments to the attention of our hotel team, and we will use them in our training sessions. We hope that you continue to have happy and safe travels going forward. A hui hou, Carolyn Ncube General Manager Stay Hotel Waikiki

For Spring Break, my friends and I decided to go to Hawaii. We decided to stay at the Stay Hotel. It was one of the best decisions that we made on this girl trip. The hotel was literally near the beach (2 to 3 minutes walking distance). The coffee that is provided from the hotel is delicious and always being served in the morning. The staff members were friendly and kind. Our room was always cleaned when we come back at the end of the day - excellent housekeeping staff! We would like to thank Kitty for always making us feel welcome while we were there. She always has that smile on her face whenever we see her. :) We will definitely stay here again. Highly recommend this hotel!

My 1st room the air conditioner was so loud i videotaped it to show the desk person. there were no comparable rooms available, and she had to Phone a manager to get permission to upgrade me. The new room air conditioner was set at 66 degrees and the remote or face controls would not adjust the Temperature or shut it off. it blows at your face while in bed, had to block it with a suitcase. There is a desk but no chair of any kind in the room or on the balcony. The bed was horrible you could feel every spring in it. You are not notified until arrival that parking is $45.00 a night. Public parking lot is 3 blocks away. There are no light blocking curtains so light pours in 24 hours a day.

Upon arrival we came to find out our refrigerator and microwave were not working and spoiled or $60 worth of food. When we brought this to the attention of the older lady at the front desk, she was not at all accommodating and did not offer to have someone look at the problem.

When checking out from the hotel, I forgot a tote with contents that had a value of over $300, the front desk person, Michelle assured me that she would put the tote with our luggage that we left at the front for the day, when I called the hotel.

Upon returning to pick up our luggage before our flight, the older lady was again very rude and unhelpful. She read an email stating that Michelle had the tote placed with our luggage. However, the woman was not able to find it with the luggage or with the cleaning staff.

I am appalled at the service provided by this hotel and in particular the horrible service demonstrated by the older lady at the front desk. I will never return to this hotel and I will be sure to let all family and friends to never stay here.

This women made several derogatory remarks with respect to homosexuals, considering this hotel has a gay karaoke bar... it is sad and disgusting that she says things like ‘looney tune’ and ‘not the way God intended’ when referring to homosexuals. She has absolutely soured my trip and she should be reprimanded.

The Stay Hotel is the perfect option for no-frills accommodations for those that are looking for a place to stay while exploring the island outside of the touristy resorts.

The staff at The Stay were amazing. While it’s not difficult to find big smiles on this island, Kitty’s courtesy and kindness were exceptional! Even for Hawaiian standards! We really enjoyed our stay in Waikiki at the Stay Hotel!

The hotel was very clean and the customer service was excellent. The Stay is situated in downtown Waikiki so it can be noisy on the weekends and I recommend earplugs.
I recommend this hotel. Keep in mind that the additional fees and taxes can be pricey, but the staff notified me of this when I checked in. Underground parking is available. The roll-a-way bed needs an extra mattress for comfort, so be sure to ask for an extra one. The springs are a killer! If you spend most of your time doing fun things and not hanging out in your motel room, this is a great no-frills place to stay.

hi do they do a hold on credit card when you check in?
Answer from Keith T
Canberra, Australia110 contributions82 helpful votes
I booked through an online booking system and the payment details were all handled that way. Their receipt was all fine and we had a good stay. I am not sure if they need your credit card details for a security deposit, but best to have it just in case. If that is the case, they just take an imprint and return your card to you.

Yes, you can take a public bus to Diamond Head and Pearl Harbor from Pantry House bus stop which is around 2-3 minutes walking distance from Stay Hotel Waikiki. For the bus number, you can ask from the hotel or check on the internet.
