Couple short get away. Property is in a prime location. Everything was a little expensive in the property but you have options to go outside the village. Prices for chairs and umbrellas at the beach were outrageous. Definitely buy water shoes.

If you love to be close to the shops and yummy food, and still have a beautiful view and resort to stay in then this is the place. We stayed in the one bedroom suite partial ocean view and LOVED it!! Most evenings we sat out on the balcony and watched the beautiful ocean, lagoon and a few nights of private luaus on the grass below. The kitchen was stocked with almost everything we needed. It was just my husband and I so we ate out evenings, but it was nice to have things for breakfast and snacks ready. This would be perfect for families to save and cook their meals in the hotels. We were in the lagoon tower by the way. We also commented that the insolation was so good in our room, we never even heard anyone in the hallways.
We loved having so many shops to walk around so close to the hotel - the village has a little of everything. We ate at the Blue Shrimp the first night we got in and were surprised at the quality and decent prices! And of course Lapperts was a frequent stop.
We just enjoyed everything so much!!
Even the last day was so pleasant, we had a late flight out and were able to check our bags in with the bellhop and walk around Waikiki and play on the beach then shower and print our boarding passes in the lounge provided for just that circumstance. We would definitely stay here again!!

While our room had great views we stayed in the Rainbow Tower which needs an update. Furniture and carpet old , furniture nicked and wallpaper very worn. Sooo many tourists in Waikiki and this particular compound; the pools were over crowded, long wait time for beach chairs which were $18 to rent, wait time for the restaurants for breakfast at those owned by Hilton. You must request your room to be cleaned 24 hours in advance which we did. After being gone all day on an excursion, we came back to find the room was never cleaned and the person we spoke with the day before never put us on the list for cleaning.

Two days before our arrival we called the Hilton at this location to see if the room included a coffee maker with keurig pods. We were told we could ask for one upon our arrival because our room was a Jr suite ( expensive). It took 4 calls and the last attempt to speak to a manager before it got handled!

Hilton generally has a higher standard but this was a disappointment!

Our third and last stay. At check in we were given a unit different than what we booked and when I went to the front desk to have it corrected the gentleman said “I’ll be right back” and disappeared for an HOUR. When he returned he said it took so long because he was trying to accommodate me and my request, which was simply to be assigned the unit I booked. No apologies, no “sorry for the wait” no “thanks for your patience”. I should have left at that point but our past experiences have been great so I chalked it up to an off day and went on my way.
Wrong move. They have every single room booked but have most of the restaurants still closed, meaning what is open is packed like sardines, NOBODY is wearing a mask and there is zero oversight by staff to enforce masking (i.e in the elevators!!) or ensuring social distancing protocols are followed. There are lines EVERYWHERE and people are breathing down your neck at every corner.
Norton at the beach chair area was verbally and physically aggressive with my husband, screaming and kicking a garbage can when we questioned why an umbrella couldn’t be placed in a particular area on the beach away from the packed frenzy of covid denying southerners, which seem to make up the guests this week.
People are screaming from balconies at all hours of the night, literally eating nachos while sitting in the pool (how is that sanitary), and speaking of pools, they’re a nightmare. I haven’t seen one worker check the chemical levels and there is a permanent film you could skim off the water’s surface. It’s packed to the brim, nobody following rules and zero staff around to remind people that there are in fact rules.
I have 4 nights left here with my husband and 5 year old and am looking to check out immediately. I’m saddened by the way the property is being run and the gross neglect by management to put protocols and procedures in place to make guests who believe in science feel safe. While Hawaii’s covid numbers are stellar, I can tell you the majority of guests here are from states with low vaccinations numbers, anti maskers, and plain covid deniers.
I feel terrible for the locals who surely want tourism back, but not like this, and HGV & HHV should be doing much more to keep everyone, surely their staff, safe.

We have just returned from a 7 day stay in a 2 x bedroom condo in the lagoon tower. It is actually a 1 x bedroom suite that interconnects with a twin studio room. It was absolutely fantastic and suited our needs perfectly. We had ample space and the kitchen meant we had a coffee machine and refrigerator to store snacks etc. The kitchen could do with a top up of items such a cutlery and tea towels as its very bare. We didn’t cook our own food but if you wanted to you would find it very difficult with the limited utensils in the room. We couldn’t even find a tray to heat up pizza! The food in the village is all over prized rubbish food that is typical of hawaii, chips, burgers and salads that are 90% lettuce. There is limited food options outside of the village nearby and its at least a 15-20 min walk to anything semi decent food wise. However the lagoon pool was fantastic for families. Has 3 slides and is heated to a lovely warm temperature so our kids literally spent all day there. As long as u are down at the pool by about 10.30am u can always get a sunlounger. I had read many reviews complaining about the wait for elevators, we had no such problem! All in all a great stay but a bit let down by a lack of nutritious food options at a reasonable price. But the room and amenities at the hotel were fantastic. If u like to ear burgers, hot dogs and fries all week at twice the price then you will be right at home. If not, then staying somewhere closer to Kalakaua Ave is more convenient but being hawaii, nothing is cheap!

We stayed in a one bedroom unit 1107 at the Grand Islander. The room was very well furnished and had an ocean view. The Grand Islander has its own check in desk which is nice and makes check in a lot easier. The full kitchen has everything you need for breakfast or a quick lunch break from the beach. The in room washer and dryer was handy as well as the dishwasher.

The complex is on the west end of Waikiki beach and has the best sand on the beach. The luxury row shops and restaurants as well as the Ala Moana mall are just a short walk away. Not to mention the shops in the Hilton Village. The ABC store is just around the corner from the lobby and has most of what you will need during your stay.

The things that could have been better included the coffee maker. Quite possible the worst design I have ever used. So much so that I didn’t even bother making coffee after the first couple of mornings. We asked for more towels the first day and did not get them. Same for a blanket for the sofa bed. We left a note for housekeeping when they cleaned our room the next day and got both. Also skimpy on the dishwasher soap which is hard to find at the ABC store. Maybe we are the exception but we used the dishwasher just about every day.

Lastly if you are on a lower floor like us, 11, trying to go down anytime between 9 to 10:30 am is almost impossible. We waited 15 minutes one morning before just walking down the stairs. If we had luggage and were checking out we would have had to go up to the top floor and then go back down to get an elevator.

Overall a very good stay. The opportunities are more annoying than anything although they are things Hilton could work on to make it a great stay.

The views from this resort are arguably some of the best in Honolulu and the rooms are exceptionally spacious. I would love this resort if it had not been for its totally disinterested and unresponsive management who hide themselves behind multiple administrative layers so as not have to deal with guest issues. This place has more "resort managers" than I have ever seen and the senior management shields themselves behind junior management that has no authority whatsoever but make empty promises regarding fixing issues. HGVC honesty should be ashamed as this is a total misuse of members fees. Here is a typical example of how problem resolution is handled at this property. A Junior manager 2 short weeks ago during a stay gave me his email to avoid future stay issues and said I should contact him prior to future stays to avoid repeat problems at this resort. I thanked him and specifically asked him for information on who to contact if he was unavailable. He told me not to worry but said he would get me alternative resort contact information. I sent 3 emails requesting the alternative contact information. I never heard back until today when I received an automated response that yesterday was his last day as he retired. I guess he didn't remember he was retiring 2 weeks ago when he said I should contact him before future stays !!!!

We stayed in a standard 2 bedroom suite in the lagoon tower on the 19th floor. Loved the suite, very spacious. The room faced the Ilikai. We could see the marina, magic island, the lagoon, and Kahanamoku beach from one of the lanais. The other lanai had a view of the luau’s former location on top of a building. Staff was great. I liked being able to text with them. They text you right after you check in and are responsive to questions by text. Everything was excellent until the weekend which was ridiculously crowded. Bring a noise maker and close the shutters at night to drown out the people screaming on their lanais throughout the night. The elevators can be stressful because the doors close too quickly and sometimes people miss their elevator which the lines were excessive on weekends. Also, our kids loved the paradise pool but the weekends were crammed with people, and some of them were nutty (the lone, older creep watching little kids in the kiddie pool, people pouring beer off the bridge to their friend’s mouth in the water down below, “skunk” scent wafting about, a guy flying a drone above the kids in the baby pool). We were ready to leave when the time came to check out. I would stay again but will avoid the weekend.

Stayed at Tapa Tower, had read reviews and was a little worried after I booked. I must say everything was great. Checking in and out was not along wait. The swimming pools were not packed. Restaurants are not that pricey as the concierge gives you a free gift and hotel passport. The passport contains discounts for the restaurants and specialty shops. Staff are very helpful as it is a small village of hotels and pools. Thank you to Hilton Hawaiian for a nice stay.

We stayed at the Lagoon Tower for 5 nights and loved our room! It was on the 20th room in the end with the most gorgeous lagoon and oceanview at Waikiki Beach. It was very easy checking in with our Safe Travels process for a State of Hawaii. The service was speedy when we asked for fresh linens or more coffee to be brought up to the room. The 3 pools were all nice and fresh towels easy to exchange. The variety of restaurants and bars within walking distance at Hawaiian Village is outstanding! I would recommend this hotel

I stood in line at the main check in counter but after standing in line for 20 mins. I was told to go to lagoon tower to check in. I don’t know if taxi will drop you off at lagoon tower but if they do it would be easier on you. It’s a walk from main check in counter to lagoon tower if you have a lot of luggage and a toddler. I don’t know about cots but Hilton may have traveling cribs available. I opted for Spedi Shuttle for my Hawaii trip so I was dropped off at the Hilton pickup/arrival area which is in front of hotel so we had a ways to walk to get to main front desk. There is a separate area for all Uber/lift drop off & pick ups.

Hilton Hawaiian Village has a parking structure. You can pay for it daily or hourly. There is street parking across the street near the buildings by Wailana Coffee House. Maybe a 5-10min walk. Or you can park near the lagoon or by the beach in the back. There is a small lot that’s free parking. It’s closer to the Ilikai hotel.

How do I book the Lagoon Tower?
26 contributions2 helpful votes
On our page on Hilton's website, we have the rooms & suites labeled either Kalia or Lagoon for the respective towers.
Answer from Marla B

It depends on what your kids and teens like to do. As far as beach activities and water fun, it’s endless! At the lagoon just before the ocean access, they can rent all types of riding flotation vehicles, and rings. At the ocean access, there are kayaks, canoes, flotation vehicles, and boards. It’s all within a very short distance. There is Ala Moana shopping mall a few blocks away and other Waikiki shopping as well. There are catamarans that go out and sunset trips, and a Hilton luau or others in the area, an aquarium at the far east end of Waikiki Beach where the zoo is, and a few types of crafts given at the hotel at special times. They are right in the thick of it! There are also three or more pools on site and one of them is particularly good for kids with big waterslides. The workout gym has been updated and is large enough to accommodate everyone. I don’t think anyone will get bored!
