So we were "bamboozled" as my husband says by our original Airbnb and needed to find somewhere STAT. The cost was great, so was the check in, and the availability. The hotel is gorgeous and they have AMAZING gatherings M, W, and F where you can eat some cheese and drink some wine and listen to amazing music and watch some hula dances. My husband and I went and were astounded at how fun it was! I highly recommend this hotel as it's close to the beach and shops, the rooms are great, and the amenities even better. Aside from having some sand in some parts of the room, my sports bra (the only one I had packed) did fall victim to the dryer in the laundry area so beware of that. Other than that, it was great!

The hotel is in a great location just as you enter Waikiki and was great room for the family. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Loved being getting a new beach towel each day. We also used the bbqs to cook meals, the fitness room and pool.

Aloha rdbier, We are happy you enjoyed your stay at the Luana Waikiki Hotel and Suites! We are glad you enjoyed the guest amenities offered. It is fun and relaxing, when you can barbequing your food while overlooking the peaceful 52 acre Ft DeRussy park while the family is either in the heated pool or working out in the brand new fitness center all located next to the BBQ area. Thank you for posting a review on Tripadvisor.com. Best regards, Clem

I can't say enough good things about this hotel. The Aloha spirit from the time we walked through the doors till the sad day we had to leave. No requests was ever not completely taken care of. We had a studio unit with a kitchenette, which was great. The BBQ area is amazing. The pool had no shortage of loungers, or shade huts. And seemed to always have full sun. would recommend this hotel in a heart beat. We had a couple of lunches at the Fish hook Cafe, and my husband took the poke making class, he highly recommends it. By far our best stay on this island.

Aloha 544deb, Thank you for sharing about your "best stay on this island"!!! We pride ourselves in caring for our guests in the true spirit of Aloha. And the amenities available for the guests, are top notch. From the heated saltwater chlorinated swimming pool, to the brand new fitness center with all new Matrix equipment, to the three $1000 Weber grills in the BBQ area overlooking Fort DeRussy Park, the property offers more guest friendly amenities than the majority of Waikiki hotels. Thank you for making the Luana Waikiki, your hotel of choice in Waikiki! We hope to welcome you back very soon. Clem

A great place for a good price. Not to far of a walk to the beach and close to the main area in Waikiki. Public transportation was close by if you wanted to see the sights in Honolulu. Would stay here again, especially in the kitchenettes with partial ocean view.

Aloha stfehringer, Thank you for making the Luana Waikiki, your hotel of choice when in Waikiki. The partial ocean view rooms at the Luana Waikiki, have views that other hotels sell as ocean view. And to have the convenience of a kitchen, is extremely convenient for creating your own meals. An expensive rental car is not necessary thanks to the hotel's location that is walking distance to the beach, to shopping and to restaurants. And as you mention, the public transportation system is close by. We are very happy you had a memorable stay and hope to welcome you back soon. Regards, Clem

We stayed for 12 nights and I was very satisfied. Room was spacious and clean. The building has a pool and very kind and helpful staff. You can use a parking 35$/night however very close there’re free parking spots (next to canal). Beach is very close and building it’s located on the Main Street. What is also convenient that there’s a place where you can eat breakfast or lunch (fish hook) I fully and truly recommend this place!

Luana is a little bit of a hidden gem for me - though not so hidden, it's one of the first properties you'll see as you enter Waikiki! But It's close enough to the action on Kalakaua, that you can walk over if you want to be in the frenzy of Waikiki, and it's further enough on the fringe that you can easily be on and off the strip and head out to other parts of O'ahu with ease. It's very close to the beach - in walking proximity, or you can drive over the public lagoon at Hilton Hawaiian Village and park in the paid lot next door. Luana is a great option for families. They have rooms with kitchenettes perfect for making meals to save a little money complete with a stove, fridge, microwave, toaster oven and coffee maker. One thing missing, which I find common in other Hawaii properties is a rice cooker. But nbd, you can easily make rice in the pots provided. The kitchen/ette is stocked well and has all the necessary kitchen utensils and even pyrex containers. The room decor is a bit outdated and the bathroom and kitchen/ette seem to be a little more updated. Would love to see a refresh, but it was fine and served it's purpose. Fish Hook Cafe is downstairs and a great option for easy breakfast or lunch. It can get busy down there but if you strategize your timing correctly, you can be in and out. They have options from continental breakfast to rice plates and poke bowls. I didn't realize we received $10 daily vouchers for the length of our stay so that was a nice bonus. The pool is a little small, but sufficient. And there are a couple covered areas with tables to set up shop. The deck is nice with clean, cushioned pool chairs. There are plenty of pool towels and ice water next to the pool. Also on the other side of the pool beyond the gate is a small outdoor dining area with a couple bbq grills. The deck (and the property) overlook the park next door with a pleasant and relaxing view. There is also a small gym, which we didn't utilize, but looked to be in great condition. Valet is $35/daily. Every valet person we encountered was friendly and pleasant. There is also a $27 +tax/daily resort fee which among other things also covers the Red Box DVD rental downstairs in the lobby and the Playstation in your room. We didn't really utilize either, but it's there for your usage as needed. Prior to arrival I had some issues with my reservation and both Janice and Yvonne were very helpful. Apparently I was also given misinformation regarding the daily charge for a rollaway bed, but Yvonne was kind to honor what I was told. We had an issue with the TV, but engineering was quick to come our room and found that the remote control needed a little reprogramming and it was resolved. Our mini fridge also conked out on us a couple days before we checked out causing us to toss out pints of ice cream, pies, and some food items we were going to bring home with us. It was a bit disappointing since those items just went to waste. We called down and again engineering was quick to assess the situation and told us the fridge needed replacing and they came back with a replacement fridge for the remainder of the stay. Martha, at the front desk, gave us a small credit to compensate us for the food items that we had to throw out. The gesture was appreciated. Jessica also assisted us when we came by the front desk and always pleasant. We didn't really encounter anyone at the Luana who wasn't friendly or helpful, even in the hallways they would always greet us with a smile. As I've read in previous reviews, I don't think the Luana is an all hotel property as some units may be part of a timeshare. This probably explains why upon check in around 10PM we were greeted by a security guard at the front desk with our keys. Made no difference in our check in though plus he was super friendly. Just never experienced a front desk and housekeeping that leaves around 9PM nightly. Make sure to get any housekeeping requests in before they depart for the night. I wouldn't hesitate to book here again. It's definitely a great option in Waikiki.

Aloha aricafort27, Thank you for a very thorough and descriptive review. We agree, the Luana Waikiki is a "not so hidden gem" as more and more guests experience the hotel, appreciate the friendly helpful caring staff and enjoy the convenient location of the property close to shopping, the beach and restaurants...and tell their friends about what a wonderful and memorable time they had. The Fitness Center was renovated last year, from the flooring, to the lighting and has all new Matrix equipment. In addition to the playstation 3 in the room and the complimentary DVD and PS3 game rentals, the $27 resort fee includes a $10 food and beverage credit to the restaurant; sand chair and beach towels usage; a reverse osmosis, UV purified water dispenser in the lobby; free daily newspaper; free local and 800 calls; free wifi; free in room coffee and tea; etc. As the CDC has relaxed its gathering guidelines, we will shortly be offering a thrice weekly complimentary wine and cheese reception, lei making classes, ukulele classes, hula lessons. We apologize for your check in experience as this is a very temporary situation. Like the rest of the hospitality industry, the hotel is finding it difficult hiring qualified staff. We will be fully staffed very shortly and will have overnight staffing for the two nights a week, where we lack an overnight staff member. Again, thank you for your review and for choosing the Luana Waikiki Hotel and Suites. Clem

This is our first family trip since the pandemic and it was an amazing one! My husband and I decided to celebrate our 10th year wedding anniversary by renewing our vows in Hawaii. The Luana Waikiki is a perfectly located in the heart of Waikiki with it being a short walk to the beach, shops and restaurants. It was also very affordable! We booked 3 rooms for our family and we all enjoyed our stay! The staff we interacted with were all pleasant and friendly. They also have the Fish Hook cafe & provided vouchers for our stay…you have to try the chicken Katsu! The 9 days went by super fast and we wish we could’ve stayed longer but we will definitely be back.

Great location! Easily walkable to the activities and restaurants on Waikiki, without staying in the crowded hotel area (where your view is another hotel). Our lanai overlooked the park and we could enjoy the ocean view. The rooms are nice and the staff is very friendly and helpful. Will definitely stay here again.
