Park Shore Waikiki Hotel is celebrated for its prime location close to the beach, offering stunning views and a tranquil yet convenient setting. Guests appreciate the practical amenities like beach gear and dining options, although some feel the rooms could benefit from updates and additional conveniences. While the hotel's atmosphere is generally inviting, with a comfortable lobby and lively nearby events, reviewers do note that the rooms, despite being clean, show signs of age.
The service at Park Shore Waikiki earns high marks for its friendly and attentive staff. However, opinions on value are mixed, with some guests questioning the balance between room rates and amenities provided.

Hotel's Favourite
My husband and I just had a delightful stay at the Park Shore Waikīkī. We love this hotel, having stayed there many times starting in the early 2000’s.
First and foremost their customer service is without peer. From our check-in to check-out everyone is helpful and friendly. Whether it’s information about Waikīkī, restaurants, reservations, attractions, etc., guest services wants to make sure you are served very well! We didn’t need our room serviced, but we did request more coffee, which was provided daily, yea!
The location and views are excellent! The location is the absolute best on Waikiki, right across from the beach, the zoo, and just a short distance from the aquarium. The view from our room & balcony was magnificent. We could see both Diamond Head and the ocean, wonderful!
The lobby is cool modern, rooms are functional and very clean. I LOVE the lion coffee and Keurig coffee makers in the rooms. It’s also nice to have the refrigerator & microwave for reheating leftovers.
There are 2 restaurants on site, Yoshitsune and Lulu’s. We enjoyed dining at both of them. Yoshitsune is a very traditional Japanese restaurant, with excellent food. We enjoyed both our Japanese breakfasts and dinners, primarily seafood. We also enjoyed our dinners at Lulu’s, food and service were both exceptional, as was the entertainment.
One area for improvement would be to freshen up the 2nd & 3rd floor areas (including the pool), which are looking a little careworn.
If we’re lucky enough to return to Honolulu, we’ll definitely stay here again!

We spent 7 nights here in an ocean front room. The view was stunning and the room was comfortable. The location is convenient and easily walkable. The staff were friendly & helpful. The resort fee included things we actually used, which isn’t the case at most hotels. We used the beach towels and next door we picked up beach chairs & a beach umbrella. Do pick up an umbrella before 9am or after 1pm otherwise they run out.
Honolulu is a busy & crowded place. The Park Shore is at the quieter end. Don’t expect any hotel next to the beach to have a parking lot. They all just have tiny driveways and then valets park for you. You might have to wait a minute but all the Park Shore valets were nice.
Walking into the airy lobby you notice the lovely tropical flower smell. The lobby is also where you will pick up beach towels and can get sunscreen and after sun lotion.
The ocean front room was a good size for us two. The bed was the most comfortable hotel bed I’ve ever had. Every day we spent time on the balcony. While Park Shore isn’t at the busiest part of Waikiki, the streets here still are busy with buses, tree trimming, road work, roosters. Inside the room with the sliding door closed, none of these were very loud though.
Housekeeping is every other day. One of the off days, we ran out of soap and told the front desk as we were going back to the room. Within seconds of stepping into the room, they arrived to happily fix the issue. Very impressive.
Other reviews mention the rooms aren’t the most updated. That is true, but they aren’t run down. If you want a relaxing uncrowded tropical stay, don’t pick Honolulu or at least try the beaches on the east side of Oahu. If you want to visit a city in a beautiful beach location that is walkable with many stores & restaurants, Honolulu is a good choice. We picked Park Shore for its great location & facilities.

A lot to digest? Read an AI-generated summary of recent traveller reviews.
I have stayed at the Park Shore several times. I keep coming back for three reasons: the location, the effectiveness of the management and staff, and the low-key and safe atmosphere. This hotel is safe and relatively quiet, serving mostly couples and families. The pool lacks the attractions that many resort-going kids are used to, so many families opt for the beach most of the day, leaving the pool fairly quiet from morning to early afternoon. The hotel is close to many popular restaurants and has two ABC stores and a Starbucks off the lobby, as well as a local cafe that serves smoothies, breakfast sandwiches… Inside the hotel is a Japanese restaurant. The rooms in this hotel are on the small side and showing their age. They have the usual amenities but have no glasses or coffee cups (except paper ones) so I recommend bringing a travel cup small enough to fit in a Keurig coffee maker if you plan to have that first cup or coffee in the room. There is a small fridge and a microwave for reheating food but as this is a hotel and not a condo there are no dishes or utensils. Not a big deal if you are aware. Personally I would welcome water glasses or wine glasses in the room, and coffee cups. Are you getting the sense that the hotel is a bit low frills? It is, which is why I think it is important to set expectations accordingly. It is a trade off that I repeatedly make in favor of the Park Shore because the relaxing qualities and location are worth the inconvenience of packing a few extra things. Finally, I like supporting a Hawaiian business instead of a big-name international hotel company.

I didn’t appreciate PSW until maybe day 3 of our 7 day vacation—yes, the room is dated but its location is perfect (right on a corner away from the hustle of what seems like an infinite number of hotels & stores on Kalākaua Ave), the staff are fabulous & our view from our view from our partial ocean view room felt luxurious. On the first night the television didn’t work & the guy who fixed it was so helpful; it was the 3 of us in the room but only got 2 washcloths when room was refreshed—they were not only quick as a flash to my room w sets of towels (it was me & my 11 yo sons); the pool was pure joy & they loved it the most; & this location is so walkable to just about anywhere you need to go to grab a bite or shop a bit. Waikiki’s so incredibly expensive to the point of madness & PSW was a nice break from that. The only suggestion I’d make is to provide sets of towels per room per guest & to have recycling on every floor instead of just the third. I would absolutely stay here again—if people want the kind of room they’d get at a Hilton or Marriott they should just stay there. But if you can look past dated rooms that are clean, more affordable, & have beautiful views, then I’d suggest PSW.

My husband and I just wrapped up our 10 day stay at Park Shore Waikiki. LOVED it! Booked a corner room, views were spectacular full 180 of Diamond Head and the Pacific Ocean. Room was clean and had everything we needed. Very comfortable!
The hotel team was fantastic! Always pleasant, friendly and we received excellent service. We had a very late check in - Chevas Miyashiro-Phillip was amazing! He had us checked in quickly, which was appreciated after a long day of travel! He provided us with suggestions on where we could get something to eat. That was just day one! Everyday we were greeted by the hotel team and can’t express enough how professional everyone was!
Hotel is right across the street from Waikiki Beach…you have the best of both worlds. Break water or calm shallow swimming area. We enjoyed both equally. Your hotel resort fees give you access to three beach items per day - chairs, umbrellas, bluetooth speaker, etc We really liked the idea of getting something tangible with the resort fee. Consider bringing towel clips (Amazon) as the beach can get quite windy. They can double to hang your bathing suits to dry on your balcony.
Hotel has complimentary sunscreen and aftersun care available. There is also filtered water available in the lobby…this is available at all the hotels in the area for complimentary use. It was nice not to have to buy bottled water.
Before we went, we read many comments about WiFi connectivity. We didn’t have any issues however we were not trying to work remotely.
Also, is you are traveling with small children or multiple families consider booking the pool level. So your children are able to nap/rest and you can still enjoy the pool and your travel companions.
We are looking forward to our next visit and would highly recommend this property.
What Park Shore Waikiki is not: Recently renovated, if you need new and posh this is not the hotel for you. If you travel with a lot of ‘stuff’ or have an extensive skincare/ makeup routine you may find the pedestal sink and small shelf insufficient.

Park Shore Waikiki is at an excellent location, being situated at the junction of both the beautiful and expansive Queen Kap'olani park and the southern Waikiki beach. This serves for excellent, undisturbed views of the beach, ocean, Diamond Head, and the green park! I'd highly recommend any of the ocean view rooms for this reason. The southern location also puts you on the perimeter of the Waikiki action, but away from the crowds you'd normally experience in the dead center of Waikiki. In addition, the hotel itself is directly connected to Lulu's restaurant (open nearly all day), ABC (local convenient store), Starbucks, and has optional parking access in its garage (for an overnight valet charge) or short term metered parking on the streets or in the zoo parking lot. Although the rooms are a bit on the small side, the staff is exceptional and the location means you'll be spending most of your days outside anyways in beautiful Hawaii! We also booked directly with the hotel, as they offered seasonal deals with great rates and discounts or vouchers to their local restaurants. Awesome experience.

The location is at the quieter end of Waikiki across the road from the beach....the section that has the rock wall protection from the waves.
The zoo is across the street and the aquarium is only a short walk away.
The pool is located on the 3rd floor and seems to not be heated and colder than the ocean but still refreshing. There is free reef friendly sunscreen and aftersun lotion available at the entrance to the pool deck.
The resort fee includes beach/pool towels exchanged with a towel card, and use of beach chairs/mats next door at Beach Candy depending on availability.
The partial ocean view room is exactly that and suited us fine. It would have been nice however to have chairs and a small table on the small balcony.
Unfortunately a microwave is not available unless you choose to pay $7US/day.
Housecleaning is only done every second day but that seems to be the norm for post-Covid. I would recommend they get larger garbage cans as they get filled fairly quickly.
The laundry room with two washers and two dryers is on the second floor.....coins can be obtained from the front desk. I think it was $4.50US a load.
Lulu's the restaurant attached to the hotel and accessible via the 2nd floor of the hotel or outside, is quite good so we ate there twice.
There is an ABC store attached to the hotel. It can be accessed through the hotel lobby until 6pm and after that you have to go outside and around the corner to get to the entrance.
The hotel staff were very friendly and remembered out names throughout our stay.
We are definitely looking forward to a return visit.

Booked Ocean View room. Checked in promptly by Angel. Room was slightly dated but clean. Bathroom was updated and spotless. Mini-Frig, large safe, microwave and Keurig coffee maker with ample supply of Lion Coffee pods. Housekeeping is every other day, but a phone call to front desk will yield almost immediate service of requested items. Lobby has SP50 sunscreen dispenser as well as purified drinking water dispenser. Very helpful staff, in particular Gwen and Angel.
Would stay here in the future.

Booked a Premium Room, 1 King Bed, Ocean View (Diamond Head) for 3 nights and got exactly that on a high floor booking via Hotels.com
We prefer this end of the strip as it’s quieter and has easy access to the airport. Knowing it’s a mid range hotel with local charm and not an international chain we knew what to expect.
The lobby is large and the scent pumped out is too strong, but it’s comfortable to hang out in. We were seen to promptly. There is a water fountain in the lobby that you can refill bottles, also aloe Vera and sunscreen. There are 3 lifts so we never waited too long.
The room was pretty small, but we’ve had smaller @ the Moana Surfrider which wasn’t within our budget this time given the poor exchange rate.
In our room was a lovely card with generous gifts as we were celebrating a special milestone. The view was spectacular of the ocean and diamond head. We turned off the aircon which was left on for us and opened up the balcony sliding door for those cool breezes.
The room amenities were quite cheap in brand and quantity. We didn’t have glasses to have a drink and had to use the plastic ones provided with our gift. Given service to the room is limited, they should be more generous. The bed mattress needs replacing/ turning as we slept upside down and it was better.
The resort fee is high and some of the listed inclusions are a joke as you’ve paid to stay there. Being able to rent beach equipment daily was fine but I’d rather pay a smaller fee and pay for what I want to use. The whole resort fee culture drives me bonkers in the US.
Overall it was value for our money in the overpriced strip and it met our expectations for a mid range hotel. Being able to hear the monkeys in the zoo vs other loud noises and looking at that view would make us recommend this to others.

Staying at the Park Shore Waikiki Hotel offers comfortable accommodations, a great location, and breathtaking views if you are on the ocean side. This older hotel is nestled at the edge of Waikiki Beach.
Our room at Park Shore Waikiki was very noisy, and the air conditioner and balcony sliding door had poor seals. However, we could see Diamond Head from a balcony on the other side of the building.
Location is one of the hotel's strongest points, situated at the crossroads of tranquility and adventure. With direct access to the beach, guests can find themselves on the soft sands of Waikiki Beach within minutes, ready to surf, swim, or soak up the sun. The hotel is also a stone's throw away from the vibrant Kalakaua Avenue, offering many shopping, dining, and entertainment options. The proximity to the Honolulu Zoo and the Waikiki Aquarium adds to the appeal, making it an ideal choice for families and couples alike.
Park Shore pool area, which also doubled as a stargazing area and offers a refreshing escape with views of the ocean and Diamond Head. It's a good spot to relax after a day of exploration or to start your morning with a rejuvenating swim.
In summary, the Park Shore Waikiki Hotel is pricey as all things in Hawaii, but provides a safe blend of comfort, and convenience. With its prime location, friendly staff, comfortable accommodation, and views, it's a good place to lay your head.
