We asked for an ocean view and were told that wasn't possible, but then received a room with an ocean view anyway. It was a gorgeous view! My family and I stayed in a 1 bedroom for 8 days and the kids slept on the sleeper sofa in the living room. We had plenty of space. The room was clean, modern, and comfortable. The bathroom included a soaking tub and separate shower, and the toilet (with a bidet) was behind frosted glass. The washer and dryer were located in the bathroom and laundry detergent was provided. They provided large bottles of body wash, shampoo, and conditioner, as well. The kitchen was nice and included quality appliances. The hotel is conveniently located in the Hilton Hawaiian Village, which offers restaurants and shopping. There were several pools on the property, including a private pool on the 3rd floor. Cabana rentals and beach/ocean activities such as surfing lessons and whale-watching tours were offered for an additional charge. Every staff member we encountered while there was friendly and considerate. The beach is a short walk away. It was a bit confusing figuring out where to go for each of our Uber drivers when we left the hotel. Also, the hot tub was not working. That was the biggest disappointment for our daughter. She still complains about that when we visit other hotels with working hot tubs.

Best hotel in Honolulu for families! The hotel is beautiful, centrally located, comfortable plus you can find everything you need just walking distance! We booked a two bedroom ocean view and fell in love with the view! The rooms where very clean plus the hotel had excellent guest services. Great amenities and walking distance to the beach…made great memories with the kids! Would definitely stay here again!

Take your money somewhere else. Way over priced with low quality beds. They have no room service. Charge daily taxes on top of the high room fees. The security harasses the guests. Yelling and screaming at guests until you cause a scene and have to call the cops is very unprofessional. They should fire Jose Castellanos their head of security for failing to deal with a girl that had one to many mai tais. Instead of asking her to leave nicely he followed her off the property and continued to yell at her and harass her then told the cops she was disorderly. I wouldn’t risk going here if the security is going to literally throw you one the street when you have a drink at the pool. I would show the bruised up pics of the girl but they are to graphic.

We stayed in the Grand Islander for two weeks. The hotel itself was lovely but unfortunately their response and customer care around an emergency flooding in our room has meant that we will not return again. On the Thursday 24th/ early hours of Friday 25th there was a bang and water started gushing in through the wall of our room. We now know that it was a burst water pipe. Twice we called the desk to report an emergency flood and eventually we had to run down to reception to escalate the seriousness of the problem. Whilst this was happening we started building towel barricades to limit the flow of water through the floor. Security and maintenance eventually arrived but took almost two hours to locate the source of the leak. During this time we were left standing ankle deep in freezing cold water with no guidance from anyone on what to do. At no time did management come anywhere near us. After about an hour and a half we were notified by my friend waiting at reception that the hotel had managed to locate us another room and we should start packing. No assistance was offered. Eventually after packing we were sent a bellhop to help us relocate to another tower but the move to the other tower involved going through another check-in process and the need to put my credit card on file before they would give us the keys. Again no sign of management as we were left to wander around the resort in out pajamas at 2.30 in the morning. The room we were allocated was in the Tapa tower and had two double beds in one room for four adults to share. Far from ideal but we understood. The next day we returned to the GI in the morning to find out what happens next. We met the manager who said she had no idea what had happened and that she would investigate and come back to us. Later we were moved back to the GI and given another room. There was still nothing from the hotel management on what happened or even an acknowledgement that there was a major issue. After requesting to speak to the duty manager we were informed that he was unaware that there had been an issue the night before (despite the water flooding into a part of the lobby) and he asked for some time to investigate and he would revert the following day after 3pm. On the Saturday we followed up with him at 3pm and he said he was sorry for the inconvenience and offered us $50 per person for the inconvenience. We were understandably frustrated with this response and showed him the videos of the flood in the room to which he admitted he had not realised how bad it was and asked for more time to escalate it. On the Sunday he spoke to us again and said the maximum he is allowed to offer is $75 per person and that we needed to fill in an incident report with security so they could speak to insurance. We have done this and the insurance company called, asked for more details and have gone radio silent. I still have not heard anything from Hilton directly and $75 per person does not cover the room or even the food that we had to purchase the next day whilst we were out of the GI apartments and in a regular hotel room. To add insult to injury I was also charged the bellhop fees for his help moving us. I had to have an argument with the reception manager to have those charges removed and one of these has still not been fully returned to my credit card. The fact that there was no process or procedure for how to deal with the emergency is quite alarming given the size of the hotel. Luckily no one was hurt. The utter lack of a duty of care towards us during and after the incident has made it very clear that they have no regard for their customers and the fact that there is still no acknowledgment that this was a major issue that caused damage two floors down has put me off ever using this hotel chain again.

I own HOKULANI, but I stay at Grand Islander in July and October. Staff are friendly. They were also kind to me, even though I was a beginner in English. The room is great! However, since there is no ventilation fan, the alarm goes off when grilling fish. I was surprised. The view of Waikiki from the bed was amazing and it was a wonderful stay. thank you!

It's an ok place to stay, they do have a lot of amenities. We stayed in a 2 bedroom suite with 6 of us, and the couch bed is ok. HOWEVER, my husband and I didn't get any sleep for the 4 nights we were on the couch bed, because the wind was blowing outside, and it was louder inside the building, whistling under the door! We tried putting towels down and shopping bags down the sides to try to stop the noise, but to no avail. We won't be back.

I think any reviews of this particular hotel will depend on the room they got. We got upgraded which was super nice. We got the two bedroom suite, ocean view (with partial obstruction of a nearby hotel which is fine.) BUT. It was marvelous. Spacious hallways and rooms, and modern kitchen and amenities. I was absolutely spoiled with the ocean view and it made me relaxed quite frankly. As for the location, it's a bit of walk. But easy 10-minute walking exercise from the hotel to the main Kalakaua shopping district. You got to walk through the park before getting into the main street which is okay. You NEED SOME EXERCISE! The cleaning ladies who are mostly Filipinos are so nice and kind. They're attentive to the needs, at least for my family. I stayed for couple of days, but the whole experience is great. The pools are good, The gym of the kalia hotel couldve been better tho. But I can't complain about the views. Just jaw-dropping. Again THIS DEPENDS ON THE ROOM YOU GOT AND YOU PAID.

Part of Hilton Hawaiian Village. Front desk was a bit hard to find in the massive complex and the room pictured on the website was not the room we received. We expected a full ocean view but received only a partial. We spent most of our time at the beach and pool so not a big deal. Two bedroom suite was clean and spacious. Full kitchen to enjoy some down time and a perfect balcony to watch the sun rise with a cup of coffee.

Checked into what was supposed to be a 1 bedroom suite with resort view to find any view obscured by an awning and looking down on a dirty service area. To make it worse the noise from the HVAC unit (see pic) make it so we couldn't even use the outdoor area and had to keep balcony doors closed at all times. Feel mislead.
