Hotel location is excellent location and in the heart of Waikiki and is mere steps to restaurants and retail stores or a short walk to all Waikiki has to offer. Reception is up a large escalator and has ample room to accommodate many guests waiting to check on at any one time. Some Reception Staff and our check in / our lady was not overly friendly. She did not ask “how was your stay” upon checkout, she showed no enthusiasm or energy. Our initial allocated room 6 on level 11 and faced Diamond Head side of the building. It was a beautiful spacious room with large spacious bathroom. The biggest downfall for the room is that it received loud Air con fan noise from the nearby stores and other surrounding buildings, which would have affected all rooms on the Diamond Head side of the hotel. The air-conditioner fan noise resembles the noise from an aircraft engine about to take off. Not ideal for anyone wanting to get sleep. Our re-allocated room in level 25, faced Honolulu City, and was smaller in size than the previous room with a queen bed, single lounge and table with 1 chair, a large LED TV with many streaming TV channels. The room also has a self-operated air-conditioner which is exclusive to each room. The bed sagged on one side and contained 4 pillows of all the same size and firmness. This is not ideal for all people who need soft, medium or firm pillows to get a good night’s sleep. The bathroom was very tight and the room enjoyed slightly reduced air con noise from neighbouring buildings. Despite the hotel being fully smoke free, guests still smoke marijuana drugs on the balcony and the smoke wafted into our room. The hotel has a large pool area, convenience and coffee shop at reception level, tour booking facilities, valet parking at a price, water bottle fill machine in the main check in lobby and ice machines on each floor near the elevators, laundry facilities. Use of the coin operated laundry is expensive to use and costs $4.75 for the wash and $3.25 for 30 minute dry. Two dry cycles were required to dry clothes. Bringing a total wash and dry for 1 load to USD $11.75. Washing powder is also available from vending machines in the laundry room. The laundry room contained 3 washers and 4 dryers, with card or coins accepted. The laundry was located in the basement car park area of the building but had time restrictions in place. We were charged for a new tax introduced only days before our arrival on 26 Dec 2021, but were not advised of this at check in or check out. Be-aware All hotels in Hawaii, in addition to the room rate, tourists (not locals) are expected to pay: • Daily resort fee, irrespective of whether you use any facilities, this can range from USD$20+ per night. We questioned what the resort fee covers, however items we found on the hotels website which the fee paid for, were not heard of by staff and were not provided. So guests pay the fee for not all services that are noted on the website. • A TAT (transient tourist tax) of 10.25% (calculated on room rate PLUS resort fee) • The newly introduced OTAT (overseas transient tourist tax) of 3%. Which is now charges to tourists to pay for the massively over budget and well delayed train system, which does not even reach the tourist area of Waikiki. This is also calculated on room rate PLUS resort fee. • A GET tax of 4.712% (again calculated on room rate PLUS resort fee) • These taxes add a minimum of 17.96 % to the already over inflated room costs, which can vary from USD$300 + per night in peak periods.…
All the pictures and information on the website looked amazing. We show up and we told no parking is available. We paid close to $400 for a 1 night stay. Nothing included in the stay. No wash clothes in the bathroom. Staff not accommodating at all.
This is my fourth time staying at Beachcomber in the last year. The hotel is a great location, and rooms are modern. One of the best parts is the staff though - they are seriously so helpful and are always happy to help. Kristina at the front desk is so great! I will continue to come back here, and I have stayed at several other properties in the area prior to becoming loyal to this hotel.
Beachcomber is in such a perfect spot , especially with Waikiki beach right across the street! If you're into city nightlife, I'd highly recommend staying here -- you have Maui Brewing Co beneath your feet, and live music at Hawaiian Aroma Caffe. Not to mention, Beachcomber is filled with modern Hawaiian art, decor, and stunning "selfie stations" all over the hotel and in the Caffe -- such a beautiful hotel, especially for the influencers! Last but not least, Beachcomber personnel really make you feel welcomed and taken care of. I have to give a special shout out to Beachcomber Manager, Angelica -- I appreciate all you did to make the trip *perfect* for my grandmother and I. Please extend my gratitude to your team as well. I can't thank Beachcomber enough!
From the moment we walked onto the property, we absolutely fell in love with this hotel! Located right in the heart of Waikiki Beach everything you want to see and do is within a short walk. Restaurants and shops are just seconds away from the property. And the public access to the beach is right across the street! The rooms were modern and clean and the staff was so friendly. If you are planning a trip to Waikiki Beach, then you NEED to stay here!
