We stayed in an ocean view room with lanai and were swept away by the view when we deposited ourselves into the room after a long haul flight. The staff were terrific in advance, helping us with car transfers and dining reservations so we were all set for our 4 nights. The location is fabulous, the beach wonderful, the restaurants excellent and the pool great. But you know all that, don’t you? This is the famous Kahala! We enjoyed perusing the wall of photos of previous celebrity guests who have stayed over the years. It would be remiss not to mention the dolphins because we overlooked the lagoon. As someone with mixed feelings, which I’m sure are shared by many, I researched Dolphin Quest, the dolphins in this particular lagoon and observed staff treatment of them. There is no question they are treated with love and care. Most are multi-generational, the lagoon being their home. Each day is different, as we could see. Some days are activity based. Others involve rest. Too much to say in one review but I did so much enjoy my fourth floor observation of these wonderful, intelligent and sensitive beings. A special experience.…
You will not be disappointed! Excellent service in every regard. Facilities are very well kept. Everyone is so friendly. Food is pretty good, however expensive for average lunch burgers and pizza. Did not try the premier restaurant Hoku, but it looked very nice. Dolphin experience is a must.
I met up with some friends who were at the Kahala. They were friends of an entertainer there, I had come for drinks and dinner. I debated whether to book a stay there and I am glad I did not. For the hype, yes the service was excellent, however the property did not appeal to me. I was surprised to see that it appeared dated. This may be intentional to give off a 70's vibe. I regretted to see the dolphins, they were enclosed in such a small lagoon. The beach although private was quite small as well. I ordered a drink and a tossed salad. The salad was literally a cup of lettuce with a vinaigrette dressing. For the price point it was ridiculous. I am accustomed to a broad range of dining and travel experiences from mid range to luxury, so I think I have a broad perspective of what is reasonable and a good value. I am glad others enjoy the property and dining facilities, this was not for me.…
We’ve been coming off and on to Kahala since it was the Mandarin Oriental and we’ve never been disappointed. The property is classic elegant Hawaii, and the staff go the extra mile in every way. Special call out to Kalehua checking is in with a smile and making us feel special as return guests. Also to Plumeria wait staff, and the Spa masseuses for exceptional service. A long awaited return to one of our favorites after the last 3 plus years of pandemic. Couldn’t have been more needed and helping us rebalance life at long last.
Love the location and staff, but the hotel is showing wear and tear. Chipped paint everywhere, torn furniture, stains on carpet, etc. The hotel was open during COVID, but perhaps a missed opportunity to refresh the rooms and public areas. We stayed on a package that included breakfast. The buffet is decent, but should have more options and higher quality for the price. Would prefer to have an allowance that can be used to order off the menu rather than only the buffet
A big thanks to YUKI at reception. Without all your efforts and kindness, our stay would not have occurred. You were a delight to deal with, moving heaven and earth to ensure our reservation. You are an absolute asset to the hotel. If I was in the hotel business, I would hire you. Also thank you Alejandra and all the crew at Dolphin Quest. You and those majestic dolphins make the magic happen. We were overwhelmed by how friendly all the staff were and delighted to find an establishment that still offers good old-fashioned service and a smile. Thank you, Daniela
ALL staff were extremely courteous and professional. While we did not end up using much of the amenities on property, the front desk, bell staff, and valet were exceptional and kind. The valet service was the best I had ever experienced and an outstanding reflection of the resort's culture and Ohana. The great staff made for a great visit!
Kalehua at the front desk was the most fabulous and made our stay so special! All of the staff are gracious and so helpful making you feel truly pampered. The dolphins were a bonus treat to see each morning.
All the services were excellent! The pillows are kind of high, so I used big towels instead of pillows. This is my third time staying at Kahala Hotel. The scenery around the hotel is so beautiful and peaceful. I came here to rest my mind and body after being very busy career life. The Kahala Hotel completely satisfied it all.
Thank you to the Kahala staff that made our stay very enjoyable and relaxing everyone was extremely friendly and helpful my wife and I are sure to come back and recommend the Kahala to our friends and family that seek fun in the sun.
