The Hyatt Centric Waikiki Beach garners appreciation for its central location, convenient to shopping and beaches, and its modern vibe resonates well with guests. While opinions on value are divided, due to unexpected fees and a perceived lack of amenities, many guests still find the pricing reasonable. The hotel's clean and spacious rooms earn praise, as does the helpful and attentive service. However, some visitors note the pool area is disappointing and have experienced issues with room amenities and service inconsistency.

Your average family wrote a review Sept 2023

We had an issue with the room we were given and this was resolved to our satisfaction after we made reception aware.

The beds were comfortable and the deluxe room size was adequate for a family of 4. Some pool noise can be heard from the 9th floor as the pool is on the floor below this however, it would only affect rooms with a pool view. Housekeeping was late in the day and kept our room sand free, with toiletries topped up and clean towels throughout our stay.

As part of the resort fee you are able to use the hotels beach towels, chairs, umbrellas and body boards and no matter what time of day we requested these they always had the amount we needed. The beach and shops are a 5 minute walk.

Sun cream is available around the pool area and every day of our stay the pool was either empty or quiet and no sun loungers reserved with towels left on them. The pool is shallow so not suitable for swimming (the sea is perfect for this). The hot tub is large so wouldn't feel awkward or uncomfortable with alot of people in it.

Our children really appreciated being given one of the hotels fish to look after during our stay.

Nice hotel with friendly staff.

Love this hotel! We go to Hawaii every year and have stayed at a lot of hotels and by far Hyatt Centric is one of our favorite hotels in Honolulu! The room is spacious, clean and service is good. We didn’t eat at the hotel but since we stayed for 10+ days, we actually needed quite a bit of help from the reception staff. We need to say that Erica at the reception at night gives the best service! She took care of our group (we had about 5 rooms booked) when one of the rooms had this damp smell, she came by with water for us when we just wanted to hang out at the lobby one night (which she didn’t have to as she was all by herself!), we forgot to let valet know that we would be going back past 10pm and she came down to make sure we didn’t have to wait longer. She is the best!! Even though we did have not too good experience with one of the valet guys at night in which we asked if we could parked our car outside for just an hr and we will be right back, we came down in 30 mins and he was about to drive our car away. We said we asked and he said ok for us to park there and he said he heard us saying it will be 15mins (not sure how 1hr could turn into mins) and insisted on charging us $40 since we weren’t allowed to park there for long. If we have known, we wouldn’t have parked there, we also have been valeting our other car at the hotel for 10+ days at $55 a day and everyone knows us half way thru the trip but he didn’t even try to negotiate with us even tho that’s his fault because he heard wrong? That wasn’t nice at all. We did like the location of the hotel, it is very central to all the shops and beach and they provide chairs, umbrella and towels for all guest to take to the beach. The pool area was very small but I guess that’s also why they provide all guests chairs and umbrellas for you to use outside. At least with that service, I feel like the resort fee is a bit more “worthy”

I am a Hyatt member and kama'aina (local) of Hawai'i. This was a pleasant two-night staycation to celebrate my birthday with family. The 2-queen bed room we stayed in was clean and spacious for four adults and kids. Front desk and housekeeping staff were friendly, always greeted us with the aloha spirit. Lobby was modern with a cool beach vibe. Our favorite part was the Splash Lounge. Although there was no full-size swimming pool, the wading pool was perfect for my four year old niece. And the adults thoroughly enjoyed the hot tub. The location was perfect - a quick 5-min walk to the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center and International Market Place, where we spent most of our time shopping and enjoying meals. My one critique is the parking - the parking structure is very tight, so I advise guests with large/long vehicles to be extra careful when self-parking.

While centrally located, it is certainly not near the beach and therefore could be confusing for first time visitors, given the Waikiki Beach address. When one checks into a 4 star property one would expect basic amenities like crockery. Be prepared to be surprised/disappointed as all one would get are paper cups. Rooms were fine, but if one’s room is on one of the lower floors, be prepared to put up with tepid (at best) water for one’s showers. The advise from the resident engineer was to let the water run for 5-10 minutes before showers (very sustainable). Cleaning service took some organising too. Certainly one to miss on future trips

The hotel is conveniently located close to most Waikiki attractions, making it easy to explore the area. While the pool, like many in Waikiki, isn’t exceptional, it’s likely not the main draw for most visitors. The beach is just a 10-minute walk away, which is very convenient.

We stayed in the deluxe room with 1 king and 1 queen bed, and it was spacious, clean, and modern—overall, a very comfortable stay.

However, there are a few drawbacks. The resort fee feels unjustified. At $37 per night, you essentially pay for beach towels and chairs, but there’s no private beach, included activities, or a pool experience that would typically qualify a property as a resort. This trend of resort fees feels more like a hidden charge.

Also there is no airport shuttle. It would have been great to have such service!
Additionally, the lack tof accessible showers, even at the pool, is inconvenient, especially if you have a late flight… would have been nice as being part of a “resort”

Our rooms were not ready when we arrived for a 3pm check-in, but the resort fee was removed for a couple of nights for the inconvenience, and the hotel staff notified us as soon as they were ready. We recommend valet parking vs self-parking; it was convenient to not worry about navigating tight spaces or turns. Beach chairs and beach towels were available at ground level; easily returned to the towel return bin on the floor. A large container of sunscreen was available to pump at the pool. Wish suites were bigger to match the number of people they sleep; they were on the smaller side. Our rooms were on 7 and 8, and could hear noises from the ground. Showers were large. Location was great and near many restaurants and stores. Short walk to the beach through the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center.

It's the center of Waikiki, so there's a lot of shopping and restaurants nearby. The parking fee is reasonable at $42, and beach towels and umbrellas are available for rent. The room is larger than a regular hotel and clean, but it's 1 block from Waikiki Beach, so the ocean view isn't the best, and it takes about 10 minutes to walk to the beach. There are many better beaches for swimming and surfing than Waikiki Beach, so I recommend it unless you rent a car and only hang out in Waikiki.

We thoroughly enjoyed celebrating our wedding anniversary at the Hyatt Centric! Anastasia at the front desk was so kind and helpful. We asked for a high floor (light sleepers) and a soaking tub, and got both requests with room 1106. The Lobby and the pool area are very beautifully designed. The hotel smells nice and is very clean. The hotel restaurant is still closed, but there were plenty of places to buy prepared food and there is a microwave and hot water dispenser in the Lobby. The hotel is close to both the International Marketplace as well Waikiki beach; The self-parking is quiet expensive ($42/night) and very, very tight; thankfully we had a small car and navigated the corners without a scratch. Resort fee was $33/night which gave us access to beach chairs, umbrella and towels. A big mahalo toTiare and all the staff, including guest services on the first floor for taking good care of us. We hope to come again and stay at the Centric!

The Hyatt Centric Waikiki Beach is located in the heart of downtown Waikiki, in the center of many restaurants and shops (ranging from many affordable ABC stores with trinkets to tourists to luxury designer goods stores). This hotel provides travelers with all that they need to be comfortable in Honolulu.

The lobby, located several floors up in the tower in which the hotel is situated, is spacious and has hot and cold water available. You have to go down to the first floor in order to rent beach loungers and umbrellas. There was a reasonable amount of parking available, but you have to drive up several steep ramps to access the hotel's parking and it is a bit tight for anyone who is thinking of bringing a larger car.

The rooms were a bit old, but spacious and comfortable. The hotel provides cute on-theme Hawaiian Tropics amenities. Whether you're visiting as a tourist or for business, the hotel provides all that you need to be comfortable and enjoy your visit.

Hyatt Centric Waikiki Beach hotel is 5 star resort style located at the center of all the convenience to different cuisines, Ross shopping needs, walking distance to beach, plus huge size room window with views of ocean and city. The room has updated lighting and amenities. Daily room service to provide change of clean towels, tea & coffee supplies. Best of all there is free filtered water & ice with sturdy pretty water bottles provided for each guest. The staff are courteous, knowledgeable and helpful to ensure us with the best time with our stay. The lounge for guests to hang out is huge with many areas of comfortable seats and swing lounge chairs and tables to enhance relaxing conversation. There is also a big dining room for people to sit and eat meals where you can look out to an open outdoor swimming pool and kids friendly wading pool. The back of the pool area has a covered lounge area with games provided for your use. The hotel has four elevators which allows minimum wait time to go about. My family of six occupying two separate rooms all had a wonderful stay in Waikiki this year in May!
