When originally coming across the reviews for the Samuel Durfee House, I was enchanted by the reviews highlighting the fact that everyone's experience was "charming" and "relaxing." I don't think I could describe it any other way. My wife and I were looking to escape the stir-craziness of New York for a weekend getaway before our first-born arrives. Echoing the...

The Samuel Durfee House is a beautiful B & B in the heart of Newport. The Innkeepers, Heather and Michael, are the loveliest people and make you feel absolutely welcome. Their knowledge of the area and recommendations were very helpful to us first time visitors to Newport. They were always around (without being intrusive) to make sure we were comfortable,...

A charming old inn with lots of character and very comfortable. We stayed in the Harrison Suite which is on the first floor. It is quite spacious with a small sitting room and a large (but high) comfortable bed. Although we didn't spend time outside on the deck, the extended area is quite large yet allows privacy. Michael and Heather...

Loved our stay at this Newport B&B...Michael and Heather were consummate hosts. Great location, delicious breakfast and nicely appointed room. They were also a great source of information about what to see and do in this charming town. A book full of details and menus was a nice touch. Thanks for such a delightful getaway!

We just returned from a wonderful weekend in Newport, Rhode Island. Samuel Durfee house was charming, the hosts were so lovely and willing to share about the home, the area, and offer suggestions on what to do. The location of this Federalist style B&B was one block from Thames Street which offered a wide variety of shopping, dinning, and entertainment....

I stayed in the Perry room for 4 nights. The gracious innkeepers took pains to avoid onions in my egg dishes and to make eggs everyday for me due to diabetes issues. The house is finely decorated with period furnishings. My room was up a flight of steps, which wasn't a huge problem, since the owners carried my luggage. Primo...

We had a delightful stay at the historic Samuel Durfee House. Accommodations and daily breakfast were excellent. A favorite was the Swiss cheese quiche. Michael and Heather were very friendly and helpful with area and dining suggestions. The Inn is walking distance to many historic buildings, shopping, the wharf and restaurants.

We spent a very enjoyable 2017, Presidents Day weekend at the Samuel Durfee House. The house is authentically decorated with a cozy, New England seaport atmosphere, and well located, within easy walking distance to restaurants and shopping. We stayed in the nicely appointed Perry room with a portrait of naval commander Oliver Hazard Perry, watching over us. Heather and Michael...
