My wife and I stayed at the Samuel Durfee House for two nights this past week. We were very pleased with everything about this B&B. Our room (Ida Lewis) was very comfortable. Huge king bed, good size bathroom, nice little private deck. Breakfasts both days were excellent. Our hosts were very accommodating to my wife's gluten-free diet. They were also...

My husband, daughter, and son in law recently visited Newport for the annual oyster festival. We stayed at the Samuel Durfee house and it was an excellent choice. The Doris Duke room was perfect as it is a 2 room suite with 2 bathrooms. The room has an outdoor deck with a table and 4 chairs, so we were able...

We stayed at the Samuel Durfee House for three nights in May. The Ida Lewis room was spacious with a nice bathroom (standing shower only), and a private deck. The bed was extremely comfortable! Our hosts were very welcoming and helpful with restaurant recommendations and mansion tours. The breakfasts each morning were typically either a sweet or savory option. The...

The Sherman Durfee House was just as billed: a charming, historic property smack in the middle of Newport, RI. My room was perfect - lots of character but all the necessary modern day conveniences. The Innkeeper could not have been nicer or more accommodating. I slept like a log! My only disappointment, which I somewhat retracted after a conversation with...

So glad that you enjoyed your visit to the Samuel Durfee House! Yes, the windows on the front of the house are sealed for noise so that guests won't be bothered by the street noise, though the window in the bathroom does open for brining fresh air into the room. In the future we would recommend the Ida Lewis Room...

We had the best weekend stay at the Samuel Durfee House! It is central location, only a quick walk into the town, shops, beaches, and mansions. The staff was extremely nice and accommodating. They always had out coffee, tea, juices, and a homemade breakfast in the morning, with snacks in the afternoon (e.g. brownies). Room was very clean. It had...

When originally coming across the reviews for the Samuel Durfee House, I was enchanted by the reviews highlighting the fact that everyone's experience was "charming" and "relaxing." I don't think I could describe it any other way. My wife and I were looking to escape the stir-craziness of New York for a weekend getaway before our first-born arrives. Echoing the...

The Samuel Durfee House is a beautiful B & B in the heart of Newport. The Innkeepers, Heather and Michael, are the loveliest people and make you feel absolutely welcome. Their knowledge of the area and recommendations were very helpful to us first time visitors to Newport. They were always around (without being intrusive) to make sure we were comfortable,...

A charming old inn with lots of character and very comfortable. We stayed in the Harrison Suite which is on the first floor. It is quite spacious with a small sitting room and a large (but high) comfortable bed. Although we didn't spend time outside on the deck, the extended area is quite large yet allows privacy. Michael and Heather...

Loved our stay at this Newport B&B...Michael and Heather were consummate hosts. Great location, delicious breakfast and nicely appointed room. They were also a great source of information about what to see and do in this charming town. A book full of details and menus was a nice touch. Thanks for such a delightful getaway!
