First of all let me say that my wife and I are not bed and breakfast people. The staff and management were very nice. Recommended restaurants and explained house “procedures” and amenities. The building is old and the rooms are dated. But the location and...More
We arrived in town about an hour before check-in and thought we might see if the room was ready early. I parked in the back lot and walked inside, and heard a voice in the back room say they would be out in a minute....More
Possibly the worst B & B I have ever been to. We were greeted by a rude and condescending woman. The accommodations are dark, musty, noisy, and uncomfortable. Breakfast the first day had nice fresh croissants. Second day the same croissants, literally. But a day...More
Stayed for one night on the third floor which is difficult to lug suitcases up to! The carpet on the stairs is worn and overall the place could do with some upgrading. Room was clean and tidy. Breakfast was serve yourself with a selection of...More
Went with two friends and stayed at the Apartment/Suite. It was very clean and nice. With a short walk you can reach the pier and have a great time just strolling the area. The breakfast was also good and had all the variety the three...More

Hi there. I'm the inn manager at the Yankee Peddler, so I thought I'd do my best to answer your questions. We opened for the 2015 season on April 10 and already have had many happy guests. One Trip Advisor review has been posted since the reopening -- it is titled "A Hidden Gem." It was posted a few days ago, so you should see it there at this point. In terms of room choices, it really depends on your priorities! The Carriage House is most economical, whereas the Superior 1Q rooms and 2Q suites have four-poster beds and decorative fireplaces. Standard rooms are one notch up from Carriage House but in the Main House, on the second and third floors. All guests in all rooms are free to enjoy the rooftop deck, accessed from the third floor. For meals, we offer a self-serve complimentary continental breakfast which is simple but hearty. Fact is, with our location in central historic Newport, there are SO many restaurants at all price ranges within easy walking distance that experience tells us our guests prefer to be out and about for meals other than breakfast or that first cup of coffee. In the afternoons, we do offer fresh-baked cookies, and coffee/tea is available throughout the day. Parking and wifi are complimentary at the Yankee Peddler as well. In short, we are a truly great value with fine, clean, comfortable rooms in an authentic setting in the heart of historic Newport (if I do say so myself). Please let us know if we can help with further information or if you'd like to discuss specific room availability on the dates you might be visiting. We are always here at 401-846-1323 or, of course, you can contact us by email. Thanks for your inquiry, and have a nice day! Laura

"Although we ascended the stairs I still prefer that to the main floor. New roof top patio."
