I stayed in a room at the Carriage House for only 1 night. First, it was very rough for me to check-in at the main house, due to the steep steps. I use a cane due to having had 4 knee surgeries. The owner told...More
Was a last minute decision to change our route to include Newport and so glad we did. Accomodation was tight due to seafood festival and got last room at Peddler Inn without knowing anything about it. Very pleasant surprise pulling into this wonderful old Inn,...More

We stayed 1 night at the Yankee Peddler in Sept. Stayed on the 3rd floor. No elevator but was offered assistance if needed. Good location, well kept. Breakfast was wonderful! Lots of choices. Parking is tight but they make it work. Enjoyed our stay there.
A cozy, casual, authentic inn offering 20 guestrooms in the heart of Newport's "Historic Hill" neighborhood. Excellent location three blocks from the waterfront, wharves and Bellevue Avenue. Easy walk to …Morerestaurants, shops and downtown historic attractions. Parking, continental breakfast and wifi included -- and guests love the rooftop deck! Less

Hi there. I'm the inn manager at the Yankee Peddler, so I thought I'd do my best to answer your questions. We opened for the 2015 season on April 10 and already have had many happy guests. One Trip Advisor review has been posted since the reopening -- it is titled "A Hidden Gem." It was posted a few days ago, so you should see it there at this point. In terms of room choices, it really depends on your priorities! The Carriage House is most economical, whereas the Superior 1Q rooms and 2Q suites have four-poster beds and decorative fireplaces. Standard rooms are one notch up from Carriage House but in the Main House, on the second and third floors. All guests in all rooms are free to enjoy the rooftop deck, accessed from the third floor. For meals, we offer a self-serve complimentary continental breakfast which is simple but hearty. Fact is, with our location in central historic Newport, there are SO many restaurants at all price ranges within easy walking distance that experience tells us our guests prefer to be out and about for meals other than breakfast or that first cup of coffee. In the afternoons, we do offer fresh-baked cookies, and coffee/tea is available throughout the day. Parking and wifi are complimentary at the Yankee Peddler as well. In short, we are a truly great value with fine, clean, comfortable rooms in an authentic setting in the heart of historic Newport (if I do say so myself). Please let us know if we can help with further information or if you'd like to discuss specific room availability on the dates you might be visiting. We are always here at 401-846-1323 or, of course, you can contact us by email. Thanks for your inquiry, and have a nice day! Laura

"Although we ascended the stairs I still prefer that to the main floor. New roof top patio."
