One of my favorite places to stay. It is a beautiful hotel with great rooms and services. The rooms are unique in that they have a central control for all of the features (lights, temp, blinds, etc). It is impressive. I recommend checking put the rotating bar while you are there as I dont know of many others! Truly unique!

For a birthday celebration we took advantage of a Staycation deal for $269 including a standard King room, dinner for 2, continental breakfast the next morning and a $40 gift certificate to a sister restaurant down the street (with a lot of parameters for use that makes it nearly worthless). Yes, we went during Covid and based on the cars in their small front parking lot, perhaps 10 rooms were occupied max. To put your best marketing foot forward, why not offer to these existing customers the very best rooms in the house to promote all that the hotel has to offer--nope. We got what we paid for and nothing more. Many of us were put on the same floor too. The hotel is worn for only being 3 years old. We sat at the huge bar by ourselves, ate dinner by ourselves and the roof-top bar was completely buttoned up even though it was open. Not inviting. The entire experience was fine, just fine...nothing better. Feel for the hospitality industry but you lost a good marketing opportunity hen the hotel was empty. Upgrades don't cost any more and make for more satisfied customers. Lesson learned.

The Curtiss Hotel was great for us in terms of service, amenities, and location.

Service: the valets were attentive and quick to get our car. The bartenders made good drinks and even gave us some complimentary tastes of the new fall cocktails. Housekeeping was friendly and, when seeing us leaving our room in hiking boots, offered us extra bottled water.

Amenities: we used just about everything! The jet tub, Toto toilet, steam shower, urban hot springs, rooftop bar, rotating bar, etc. It was nice to have so many things to do at the hotel itself. We had a corner room. The room was well appointed and we appreciated that there were so many places to store things, especially in the bathroom. Usually there is nowhere to store items but the counter. I would recommend a corner room. You could hear street noise but it wasn’t enough to keep me awake at night.

Location: We ran to Canalside, walked to Shea’s theater and a local coffee shop, and drove to many other area sights from the hotel. The free parking and quick valet service made it easy to get in and out.

I recently had the privilege of staying at the Curtiss Hotel. Every aspect of it was exquisite curated—every lamp, every sconce, the bathroom—ah the bathroom. Never have I stayed in a nicer bathroom—there’s a colorful jacuzzi, steam jets in the shower, a bidet setting in the toilet. The bathroom in itself is worth a visit. The shades are automatically programmed with the room key. There’s a revolving bar downstairs. It’s definitely worth the experience.

First the good news...this hotel is so beautiful, historic and edgy. It charms with funky fixtures, state of the art bathrooms, and an overall artsy vibe. And, now the bad news...the customer service, lack of attention to detail, and inexperienced staff make this a no go. I was very disappointed from beginning to end. When we checked to our to our adjoining rooms, the keys did not work. So, back down to the lobby to get them recharged. While I was there I made a dinner reservation at the restaurant which they did not have in their computer when we came down again an hour later. I called on our way there to inquire about the pool. I was told about the 6 person restriction, which is fine of course, and that is was indeed open. I even told her how much my 12 year old was looking forward to a swim after 10 hours in the car. The "pool" is actually a hot tub, and when my kid and I arrived there was a couple making out in the center. Gross. My kid suddenly lost all interest in "swimming". ; ) Dinner was unimagined, under seasoned, and our server had never heard of gluten, or blue cheese olives. That was one expensive bland dinner. No different at breakfast. There were almost zero gluten or dairy free options, so my daughter and I just ate one sausage a piece. So, all of this could have just been chalked up to bad luck on an odd day except for this...there was a mini waterfall coming down between the two rooms at the adjoining door. I went down to the lobby again to tell them the carpet was a puddle, and we needed maintenance up there. They told me they'd call the manager and get someone up right away. Nope. When we check out I explained to the front desk staff that no one had showed up, it was still dripping-cascading, and he told me he'd have management speak to me right away about adjusting our bill. Again, no word almost two weeks later. I understand these are trying times, and it's so difficult to run a successful business with so many restrictions. But, this just seemed like a total lack of management and proper customer service training. I will not be back.

Inside is very appealing even thought somewhat tasteless. Worst is customer service - this is no 5 star. And it had nothing to do with covid 19 as they try to explain. Calling to arrange shuttle to the airport which is listed on the website but its not available due to covid. “We will arrange transportation and leave you a message “ . 2 hr later back to the room - no message. Calling back to front desk and they just forgot. I dont think in 5 star hotel you need to call for a toothbrush and toothpaste. You have wine in the fridge but no wine glasses(even disposable). Keurig coffee is not a level of 5 star hotel. Chez Ami food is below average and hugely overpriced by Buffalo standards. Besides cleanliness and appearance this is not a 5 star hotel.

Very disappointing experience.
It’s one of the fanciest hotels in Buffalo.
The public places/lobby are quite nice but overall stay was disappointing.

The room was nice, had some high tech touches. The shower especially was quite fancy with jets, etc .
The “devil is in the details” though.
One of the bedside fancy electric plug towers wasn’t working.
There was dust on top of the table and desktop lamps.

Traveling during Covid time , I of course expected closures.
At check in I asked about dining , I was told that some of the Restaurants were open for terrace diningZ
I was also told that the complementary breakfast was available in the restaurant/terrace .
The next morning, I came for breakfast and was told they can only prepare to go food for in room dining.
While I certainly understand the closures due to COVID, I don’t understand being told one thing with reality being the opposite.
And the final draw was the departure.
I had to fly out early from Rochester Airport and asked the front desk manager the day before to book a taxi for 5:30 am.
He wrote every that down, repeated the time and assured me that it will be ready there by 5:15 or so.
The next morning there was no taxi.
The front desk staff in the morning knew nothing about it.
They called a taxi then. It came half an hour later than was intended.
Luckily I made my flight (just barely).

So overall I a nice but poorly managed hotel was my impression

The hotel is in a great location. We bought the Saturday Staycation package and had planned a weekend stay in the city with a show on Saturday night at Key Bank. The room was nice minus the dead spiders smashed on the the ceiling. The dinner at the restaurant was good. We both enjoyed it and would possibly go back. That's about all that was nice.
We ended up leaving the hotel at 3am to head home. The room next to us was playing music extremely loud starting at around midnight. We called the front desk and the issue was addressed for the most part. We could still hear it but assumed the room walls are extremely thin. Then the music started again and the couple started fighting. We called once again. A Hotel representative went back to the room and they said they would be leaving.
It was quiet for about an hour and then it all started over again but a lot worse. We called the front desk and asked them to come to our room so they could listen. No one showed and the noise continued. When we left there was cell phone parts all over the hallway and trash.
They did refund us our stay, which we are grateful for, but for a 5 star Hotel this was the worst experience with a Hotel/Motel we have ever had. We would never pay to stay here again.

I am sure that, at some point, this hotel was first class. Unfortunately, it appears that something has allowed them to lose sight of the small things that make the difference between what they WERE, and what they ARE.
First impressions were very good: historic architecture, classy music in the lobby and elevator, very helpful front desk.
But then, then the shine started to fade. It took over an hour to get ice delivered to the room. The “smart shower” did not work and we needed to move to a room with a working shower. 75% of the menu items that we ordered at restaurant were different than, as described on the menu. The public hot springs area (just outside our window) was filled with people playing load music until after 11PM. (Even though they have a sign stating no music allowed.)

It is too bad that skimping on the small things shines a poor light on the employees who are trying to do the best that they can.

Great hotel, but a lot of construction in the area. We liked this hotel very much, but it is located in an area of Buffalo that is changing and under a lot of construction. Some restaurants nearby were hard to get to because of the roads being torn up. The continental breakfast was not the greatest so we ended up getting our breakfast elsewhere. The rooms are very nice but we had trouble figuring out how not to turn all the lamp lights off with the control pad - it took us until the third day to get that worked out. Beds are clean and comfortable. We loved the Washlet in the bathroom. And shower heads all over the place are fun, too!

Thank you for recognizing the management responses are clearly unprofessional and not acknowledging the fact that there are issues at this hotel. In fact they are rude with their responses!

Call and ask for the manager. If they don't give a clear answer I would move on. I don't think my room had it but there were buttons on the thing with no explanation so it might have been there.
