My spouse and myself just returned from our 4 night, 3 day fishing vacation at the Kingfisher Lodge. We managed to bring home 3 boxes of fish. We had the pleasure of fishing with Captain Mike. We were certainly set up to succeed. We all enjoyed his expertise and high energy. My only concern was the lack of privacy and our room was located adjacent to the parking area. I would recommend Kingfisher Lodge to anyone whom would like to have an fantastic fishing experience.

This is the most memorable Alaska trips I’ve ever had. Been sport fishing in Alaska since 1989 at least every other year. With the Covid virus, the lodge was absolutely amazing with their ability to adapt. The food was spectacular! And the fishing… So amazing I can’t imagine not returning soon. A shout out to our captain, fish processors, chefs, help, & this Lodge for making this the best early 50th birthday gift I could’ve ever hoped for. Took my fishing buddy with me, and left my husband and son at home. My fishing buddy, Dan, had never been and I can’t imagine how you could possibly improve on future trips. See you all again soon KingFisher Charters! Jennifer Bolanda Littleton, CO

The food was excellent. COVID test procedure worked out perfectly. They communicated everything effectively leaving no questions unanswered. Dave, captain of Pockets, put us on the fish EVERY time. We slayed em! Kings, silvers, halibut, rock fish - we asked and he delivered even when the weather didn’t cooperate. 5 stars all around!

Three friends and stayed at a fished with Kingfisher Charters Aug. 2020. From the time we were picked up at the airport until we departed everything was 5 star. The staff were friendly, the lodging was modern and clean, the food was unbelievable and fishing with Captain Mike on the Baranoff could not have been better. A 40# king on the boat topped our 3 days of fishing. Thanks to Seth, the owner, for putting together a great experience. Lou O

Recently stayed at the Kingfisher Lodge for a Covid-era fishing trip. The lodge is actually set-up so that social isolation is not a problem. The lodge was running at about half occupancy, which allowed our small group to have an entire floor of one building (Falcon Guest House). The floor has 4 bedrooms, each about 400 sq feet with either two or three beds, and a bathroom in each room. The floor itself was about 2700 sq ft, and includes a kitchen, living room and dining room. There was also a 300 sq foot outdoor deck area for with a table and seating for our unit. In our floor/unit was a washer dryer with all laundry supplies included. To keep social distancing and non-group contact, the dining hall was closed, and all meals are brought to your unit, to be consumed in your dining room. Service is timely and dishes are cleaned up immediately. Quality of the food is EXCELLENT. Quantity of food is also generous, and the few times we requested more of a food item, it was immediately brought to our unit. The full sized refrigerator is stocked with juices, soda, dairy and snacks. Guests are asked to wear a mask if they are outside of their unit, but generally most time can be easily and comfortably spent on your own floor. There is a large screen tv, with included cable, and the wi-fi signal is strong and speeds are fast. Transport to the harbor is in vans, with your own group, so interaction with other guests is kept to a minimum due to covid precautions. The van will stop at the local grocery/liquor store on the way back from the harbor if requested. The fishing is excellent, with a short 30-45 minute ride to the fishing grounds most days. Many different species can be targeted within a reasonable distance. We caught 3 species of salmon, black cod, ling cod, rockfish and halibut. Processing of fish is done on site and is of high quality. Fish boxes are packed and transported to the airport with no hassle. Fishing equipment was top quality - Seeker rods, Talica and Trinidad for bottom fishing, and Tranx reels for rockfishing on our boat. All gear is provided with heavy duty overalls, rain coats and boots provided as well. The service at the Lodge is friendly and helpful. The staff goes out of their way to make sure you have a good comfortable stay, and successful fishing. We've already booked for next year. Highly recommend Kingfisher Charters and Lodge. Special thanks to Seth for taking care of our group.

Had the opportunity to stay and fish at Kingfisher Lodge in Sitka Alaska last July 2019. I had actually won a trip for 2 while fishing in the Western Outdoor Tuna Tournament in Cabo San Lucas. Seth had donated the trip to the angler who guessed the winning weight of the largest Tuna and as luck would have it I won. A good friend of mine and I flew into Sitka and were greeted by the staff and shuttled to the resort. I travel and fish alot and had my own charter service for over 20 years. This place is amazing, excellent accommodations, very attentive staff, marvelous meals and very professional Captains who give 200% to put you on fish. We each took home a 50lb box of various fillets that were marked, packed and frozen in an insulated box for the plane. You need to bring just your clothes, all wet gear and boots are provided. If you get a chance to meet Captain Dan "The Halibut Man" you are in for a treat. The organization at Kingfisher is amazing and will be an adventure that I will always cherish.

This is our 2nd year visiting Kingfisher. I can’t think of any realistic way for them to improve this place. It’s amazing. From the owner to the staff to the boat captains everyone is friendly and real. You see the same people fishing every year. Thanks for another great experience

Kingfisher Charters runs a wonderfully, organized trip with delectable food and attentive staff. In July, my little brother and I had the opportunity to be overwhelmed by their Swiss clock like precision. Greeted by a van at the airport, we were shuttled to the lodge and provided fishing boots. Then we were assigned our very clean rooms with a refrigerator stocked with soft drinks. The lodge had a wonderful view of the water. In the afternoons, each floor of the lodge had a new and delicious appetizer served. We enjoyed scallops, crab cakes, rockfish tacos, and teriyaki grilled cod. Dinners offered a salad bar, a new soup each day, a choice of entrees, and a delectable dessert. The soups included Clam Chowder, Tomato and Basil, Salmon Soup, and Thai Ling Cod. The entrees included Halibut Fillet, New York Steak, Dungeness Crab, Prime Rib. The wonderful desserts all included ice cream as an option. Warm Blueberry Cobbler, Carrot Cake, a Brownie Sundae, and Berry Rhubarb Cobbler were the perfect ending for their terrific meals. After a hot breakfast as well as options of fruit, yogurt, or Kashi, we took a 10-minute van ride to our fast and well-equipped fishing boats. We limited every day on halibut and had an abundance of coho and a couple of sockeyes. We each got our king salmon as well. On the final day of fishing, our captain took us jig fishing for some black rockfish. The unexpected and fast-paced action may have been the highlight of the trip. We caught our limit of three fish per person in 30 minutes or less. All of the fish were cleaned, filleted, and flash frozen. Upon departure, the friendly staff carried and checked the 75lbs of fillets that each of the fishermen in our boat would take home. I have fished for many years and this is by far the best fishing, food, and service that I have ever experienced

We've stayed with Kingfisher twice and have already begun planning our next trip, thanks to the grace with which each staff member attends to every detail of our vacation. When Craig picked us up at the airport on the 4th of July, he kindly offered to return us to Sitka to enjoy an afternoon of small-town celebration at its finest after check-in, while picking us up in-time for the daily appetizers to be delivered to our lovely accommodations at 5:00 PM. Bald eagles perched on the tree 20 feet from our window! After dinner, we enjoy walking down to the beach, while collecting ripe berries that we savor on the walk back up the hill. Though breakfast is early, you will be rewarded with home-made items that provide the energy for that day's fishing adventures. We make peanut-butter and jelly sandwiches or grab yogurts/fruit to fill the provided bags for our "second breakfast" at 9:00 AM, after already harvesting a few fish. We've learned that the packed lunches deliver worthy calories because you'll have a different sandwich, chips, and home-baked cookie each day. The staff keeps time moving punctually, so that each guest's time fishing is maximized. Now, the fishing. We've enjoyed our opportunity with every captain - as each practices their own productive style. While bringing a box of fish home rocks, the enduring memories are the whales, sea otters, albatross, porpoises, puffins, sea lions, and bald eagles that you'll see in their world, through their lens. Stand on your boat's outside with your camera when returning to Sitka. Trust me, I'll be back to do it again.

Lodging: We stayed at the Aspen Hotel instead of the Lodge for our own logistical reasons. The Aspen is fairly new, clean, and in the middle of town. Nothing much else to add. Dining: We were given 8 meal vouchers (4 Breakfasts / 4 Dinners) to use at 5 restaurants in town for our 4 day stay. The $35 dinner voucher was more than enough for an entree and drink at the restaurants. On one night, we were able to secure a reservation to eat at the lodge - it was a treat. The food at the lodge was easily better than any of the food at the local restaurants. Fishing: We went on a different boat with a different captain each day. Each captain had a different style, but each prioritized putting you on fish! Each captain was also safe and personable. The boats varied in features and creature comforts, some with inside seating for 4, others with inside seating only for 2. Equipment varied as well. Most of the equipment was in good condition, but on one boat, the reels were just terrible. They were old and had not been maintained. One reel even fell apart during the fight! Departure: Our boxes of fish met us at the airport. A rep from the charter helped us tag and check the boxes - a first class experience. The well-packaged frozen fish made the 8 hour flight back home still frozen. Would we do it again? Definitely. We'll be back next year and we'll stay at the lodge. Overall, it was a great experience.
