The best part of this hostel was the wonderful community atmosphere. I enjoyed many great conversations with the hostel staff and other guests. We even shared a potluck one night (including freshly caught fish!) with staff, guests, and community members. You are locked out from 10am-6pm each day but there is so much to do in Sitka that this was...

We are well-traveled, older, very active hikers who have stayed in hostels all over the world. The Sitka International Hostel is truly convenient to downtown Sitka and the sights most tourists or new residents would want to see. The staff are friendly and the kitchen is pretty clean. In fact, we had our best meal in Sitka here as a...

We are truly sorry you found our hours so inconvenient. However, if the Sitka International Hostel had to pay staff to remain on premises during all hours of the day (our staff is made up entirely of volunteers who have to have daytime hours off from the hostel so they can to work at paid employment) we would have to...

I stayed here for two nights. It was clean, the bed was comfortable, free WIFI, the volunteer was pleasant and helpful. And at $24/night-- very easy on the budget compared to the hotels at $150+! The only draw-back is the limited hours to access, but this was easy to work around as long as you plan your day and know...

Great accommodations, wonderful hosts, and excellent location. My two teens and I had a great couple days visiting Sitka. The history, hiking and great town were a joy. The hostel is a great place to stay and my teens really liked the hosts and felt comfortable in the bedrooms and common rooms.

I rented a private room with private bathroom while I was volunteering at the Raptor Center. The staff was friendly and very helpful and accommodating. My room was very cozy and clean. I was one of the only people there since it was off season. It was in a great location and I would stay there again if I go...

Sitka has very limited accomodation options, we had initially wanted to camp but there was nothing nearby so we settled on the hostel. Location wise it's great, five minutes walk from town. The rooms are clean and spacious and there is free wifi. The shared dorm upstairs also includes the kitchen which can be a little bit strange when you're...

If you're budget traveler, the Sitka International Hostel is probably your best option in Sitka. The other lodging options that I was aware of in Sitka were all significantly more expensive. I stayed there for 4 nights in August 2014. People of all ages were staying at the hostel when I was there. I stayed in a room for 4...

Two of us stayed here in late June, early July. It is located in a quiet, historic neighborhood. Much less expensive than any hotel we looked at, and with lots of personality. Our room had 2 bunks.( It might have been over crowded, had there been 4 people and their luggage,) Fresh ground, hot coffee in the morning. Plenty of...

Staff was friendly and informative. There was breakfast food to scrounge for. You are locked out between 10 & 6 but can leave your bags at the fire station if you need to. The hostel will loan you bear spray if you promise to return it. Free tea. Fine facilities

Stayed in many hostels around the world and this one was one of the poorest hostels...This may be because it is run by volunteers and everything you have to do yourself (i.e. clean ,change the bed etc ) Our double room was very basic and needs updating. The inconvenience is the fact that the hostel is locked between 10am to...
