Loved this place and the 1950's atmosphere. If you are looking for a fancy, upscale place look elsewhere. This place has all the basics including a nice front porch with chairs. Clean, quiet and reasonably priced.
The rooms are dated, but don't let that deter you. They are well kept and immaculate. The price is very modest. And the owner /manager could not be any more accomodating. Stayed here on our journey south , and made a point of staying again on the return.
When you find tha last available motel room in any town you would simply be satisfied with what you get. However, room 109 at the Cardinal Inn in Luray, VA was a pleasant surprise. Oh, it's vintage 1970 or so and given that you would expect wear and tear but none was evident. The bathroom was spotless. The old tile floor cracks were clean and looked brand new! The bed was very comfortable and there was almost no noise from the other guests or nearby road. It was a pleasure to stay our two nights. The management was helpful and all our needs were met. Well done Cardinal Inn!
Such a great, inn with old fashioned charm built in the 50s. Located very close to the Luray Caverns. Extremely clean room with fridge and microwave. Room and bathroom were a good size. The sheets felt better than home. Owner went out of his way to allow us check in late at night which was a super easy process. Owner had list of local restaurants to eat at. Highly recommend Jess’ Lunch Box which is to the right of the inn. We’ve stayed at several hotels in several states while traveling on this trip and this was the CLEANEST and most well maintained place we stayed. Can’t beat the price, cleanliness, and service.
The motel was very overpriced. The descriptions misrepresented the actual state of affairs. We used Bookings to make our reservations and paid over 140 dollars! No breakfast! The accommodations were dated and not particularly clean! Minimal toiletries. The bed was ok.
Yeah, this is a definite not again. Deadbolt didn’t work. Holes in screen in bathroom and window was open upon arrival. Horrible scratchy comforter. Almost no outlets. Very dark and dreary. Small fridge and microwave standing on a small table. Window-like A/C unit was extremely loud. ON THE PLUS SIDE, was very close to SNP.
Decent budget option, reasonably clean and only somewhat overpriced. Good shower, hot water, and nice towels. No coffee - “because of COVID”. Good location for skyline drive and about a mile or so from downtown.
The Cardinal Inn is your typical motel in the mountains- it serves a great purpose for Shenandoah hikers and those on a budget. The service was excellent, and the rooms were decent enough. The hotel is about a mile down the road from downtown Luray, about 10 minutes from Lurary Caverns, and about 20 minutes from Shenandoah NP.
Very clean and very nice! Very comfort feeling when staying here . The staff is amazing and right there with any and all needs and accomodations . Restaurants are close by, and it's not like the other hotels. there's a beautiful big back yard with built in grills and shelter for outdoor fun! All that plus a reasonable and cheap price ! I will definitely be coming here again !! Check it out!!
I found this online and it was inexpensive and near the caverns. I booked a king but when we got there, there were many rooms available so he upgraded us to the deluxe king with no extra charge. The gentleman was very friendly and helpful and told us there was a laundromat about 1/2 mile up the road. He wasn’t kidding, it was that close. He also made sure to point out exactly where the ice machine was and to let him know if we needed anything. The room was much bigger than I thought it would be and we didn’t need the extra space but it was nice. The decor was nice and the room was super clean. Yes, it is an older hotel but is in good condition and everything worked well for us. The bed … I have to tell you about this bed. We pulled back the covers to find the sheets and blankets tucked in very tightly. Forget a quarter. You could have bounced a brick off the bed. Every fold and every tuck was made with precision. (Anyone with a military background would be impressed with this work of art.) There was an extra blanket in the closet if needed. The bathroom was super clean and had plenty of towels. The hotel is non-smoking but since each room is accessed outside, there were plenty of chairs on the walkway/patio in front of the doors to sit and relax. I would absolutely stay here again.…
