First, I'll give a few positives: amenities of in-room coffee, refrig and microwave, which are pretty much the expected standard in modern travel. A/C worked well, both cool & heat.

Problems: They still use "old school" key, rather than card, which would be fine EXCEPT for 1 thing - there is nobody in office except for hours 3-9 PM, so upon departure, you drop key in outside open/unsecured box.. Very dangerous, as anybody could take key, make copy and enter your room whenever to do whatever. And if you arrive after 9 PM (which fortunately I didn't) you have to go about 5 miles back to the Western Holiday Lodge (owners own both) to get a key (they do tell you this via email upfront, but this is not a good business practice). Next, the shower in Room 6 is leaky, very difficult to get the control knob in just the right position to stop it. Next, WiFi very balky & slow, cuts out repeatedly, esp at certain hours (late afternoon and evenings, not so much very early AM). Next, no towels in room, only a wash cloth and bath mat. Office clerk did provide some promptly. Told him I wouldn't require daily cleaning since I had everything I needed except for couple extra coffee packets, which he provided (no problem with him personally, he provided items needed). Was informed that they usually didn't clean daily, which some travelers may not like & makes you wonder about their maintenance overall. Won't stay again unless these matters resolved.

This place hasn't been updated in years. It was shabby, run down, and just barely passed the bed bug test. No landscaping just a gravel parking lot. The furniture was old. The microwave was questionable. Just needs some updating and maintenance. For $110 / night I expected a little better accommodations. I was concerned that appropriate protocols were not followed regarding sanitizing and time between clients because it looked like no one really cared about the place!

We had one night at the suite . It wouldn’t be so bad if it wasn’t so dirty and bad maintained and we payed about 260$
We had no chance to find another place as in August the area is very crowded .
It is better to avoid it

I have used Priceline for years and years. Pretty much every flight or hotel I have stayed at in the past 20 years was booked through Priceline. Most experiences were good. This one has been terrible. I booked a room at The River Inn, and had to late check in at their sister hotel, Western Holiday Lodge to get my key for The River Inn. I was charged a $200 deposit fee when I checked in, about 3 weeks ago that they have not returned. The rooms use metal keys, and there were no staff in the office or anywhere on the property at the River Inn. To check out, you throw your key in a bucket in front of the River Inn office, which was closed in the morning when we left. Very dangerous...anyone could walk up and grab the bucket and make copies of every rooms key and come back at a later date to do God knows what. The room was disgusting. Filthy as can be. Stained, dirty carpets. Old food from previous guests left in fridge. Bathroom was moldy. Pubic hair on the toilet seat. Old pee on the floor. Shower drain was clogged with other people’s disgusting hair and soap scum. Dust everywhere. TV remote didn’t have working batteries. WiFi was terrible. Air conditioner sounded like a jet engine. The worst part is they haven’t returned my $200 deposit. I have called numerous times and dealt with rude staff members that can’t help me. They hardly answer their phones, and when they do, they say to call back and call back and call back, and take my number and say they will call me back after they call the Western Holiday Lodge about my deposit, and they never call back. I was quoted $98 by Priceline, and ended up paying $318! $118 for the room and a $200 deposit. I am sure that the Western Holiday Lodge and The River Inn are owned by the same family. I finally got through to a nasty woman from Western Holiday Lodge, who YELLED AT ME and denied that they ever charged me a deposit. Con artists who don’t pay for staff, or cleaning, or maintenance. I am very disappointed by this whole experience :(

It was very dirty. The bed had big bugs and womens hair still in the sheets and stains and the sheets and mattress. I tried to reach out to them the next day but they didn’t do anything to make it right. They said they didn’t have cash to refund me since I paid cash. They were quick to take my money but not to fix the problems this hotel had. Also they said that I should of told them when I checked in which was late or when I left which was early morning since we went hiking. The front desk staff works 3pm- 9pm… no one was there to contact until later in the day after our hike. How is that fair!? This hotel does not have staff 24/7 like a normal hotel so there was no one to tell which frustrated me. Also don’t try to call them, the number they advertise with is disconnected. So really no way to contact them. It was not worth the price and a very unpleasant experience. I would never stay here again and would never recommend to anyone ever. Probably the worst hotel I’ve stayed in, they use this tourist area to charge high prices and make money but don’t put any of it into making their hotel clean.

The front desk guy gave me the number of the owner. So I also reached out to him personally and told him about the bug in our bed.. he said the sheets are “usually” changed out. So there was a chance they were used sheets 🤢 so we wanted compensation for how horribly dirty the room was plus the bug. But he accused me of going in side finding this bug and putting the bug in there myself!

This place was no less than a nightmare! One of the worst places to stay, ever. The site does not support pictures or I wanted to share the pictures.

To start, its a completely run down building from the early 50s or so. Enter the room and you are greeted with a stench of mold. The complete place is almost in ruins. One lamp was not working. We called the only person available to check and he could not fix it. One of the lamps had one bulb blown, the towel hanging rod was missing in bathroom, only two already smelling towels for 4 people, no cups for making coffee though the coffee maker was there.
Most disappointing was that it says river inn at three rivers and there is no water in sight until you decide to hike down half a mile and that too across the road in private property!
Please stay away from this place unless you have no choice but to find shelter for a night than sleeping in your car. Our worst ever hotel so far. They are cashing the proximity to the sequoia park and also the lack of more staying places nearby.
Also note that once you book this hotel, they will not let you cancel it until about a month before the stay. A nice way to lock you into a lousy deal where you stand no chance of bailing out. Good luck if you still decide to stay here.

We stayed in #1 room at the motel. It was one of the dirtiest hotel rooms I have ever stayed in. Light fixtures were broken, the rug was dirty, there were dead bugs in the room and ants in the bathroom. Outside, there were spider webs everywhere and even in the ice machine, right where you put the bucket to get ice! Speaking of ice bucket, there was no ice bag and HAIR in the ice bucket! Only 2 scratchy towels and a couple of washcloths.

I should've known when I checked in at the office that this was not going to be a good experience as the office was filthy as well. The only good thing this place has going for it is it is close to the entrance to Sequoia. But it's not worth it! This property is neglected and filthy!

Very decent place, all was clean, nothing stood out but also no complaints. Perfect for one or two nights you only need for sleeping. Ive stayed at Buckeye Tree Lodge for 170+ and except for the beautiful river views from Buckeye patios, they’re basically the same basic inn room so I would come here again.

3 days before our stay, they called us to say we couldn't stay there because they are overbooked. Our daughter wanted to see the Sequoias for her birthday. Now we're left scrambling to make other plans. They weren't apologetic and seemingly put the blame on us saying we booked last minute. We booked on a Monday, mid-October not high season summertime, for a Saturday stay 5 days later. The booking site said multiple rooms were still avaiable.
Pathetic!

After travelling all day on a motorcycle in 105° weather I was looking forward to a cool clean room. The Front Desk is only open from 3 to 9 PM and at that they were a half hour late. When I finally got into my room I put on the air conditioner and proceeded to take a shower. Ants all over the bathroom. After being in the room for 5 hours I am still not even close to comfortable. It's 8:30PM and 102° outside and 90° in my room. For $150 a night I expected something much better. Room is also dirty. AVOID THIS PLACE.
