Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at El Rey. Loved the picnic area and hidden treasure spots to just relax and unwind. While the motel is older, it is clean and well maintained. And we were close to all the eating and shopping excursions I had planned. Would gladly return to El Rey on our next trip to Santa Fe!

This was one of the most costly of our Route 66 stops. We had much better accommodation in St Louis, Elk City and Amarillo. We were a bit nervous having seen some of the variable reviews but on arrival two friendly guys welcomed us. Room was spacious and we had a nice patio near pool. Decor of room was nowhere...

There was no heat in my room, and after two different employees tried to fix it, I was promised a "consideration" on the charges. I called the desk at check-out to confirm that I would be given a discount for the lack of heat in my room. Nope. My credit card was charged a total of $106 (this includes taxes)....

El Rey Inn is a great place to stay. The Inn is 80 years old this year and the people are wonderful. Not your average hotel. It sets on 5 acres and is nicely landscaped. The rooms are large and remind me of a 1950's roadside inn. Try it! It is not the most expensive nor is it the cheapest....

Several months before our vacation we booked our room then upgraded to what we hoped to be a better room. While the room was actually quite beautiful, the bathroom was terrible! Although clean, it was so small as to make it difficult to actually use the room. The ventilation was a little stuffy even with the AC on. We did...

We are travelling across the USA on Route 66 so have stayed in a different hotel almost every night for the last 12 days. We also now take vacations and stay in hotels and apartments for about 90 days a year, so I have significant experience of hotel stays. We arrived here early yesterday (about 1:30pm) and I left my...

Three night stay with hubby. First time in Santa Fe & stayed here on the recommendation of a friend. There is nothing luxurious about the motel but we found our room to be very nice, spacious, clean & well appointed. Large clean bathroom, separate dressing area & large closet, small flat screen TV & refrigerator. Nice & quiet - no...

We had been told of how great and nostalgic this motel was but we were greatly disappointed! The rates have gone up significantly and the service has gone downhill. Since the hotel was sold to corporate owners the focus on the customer relationship is gone. We spoke to the GM and she told us that she was now just an...

The El Rey Inn is nostalgic for certain. Spanish mission style at the core, the sprawling complex began on the edge of town in the 1930's with a large property to spread out on. Rumors of beautiful gardens and period motel architecture had been shared with us, and we found them to be true. It was a wonderful experience for...
