I stayed here for a conference Jan 27-30, 2016. The hotel is beautiful. Its right next to the Alamo so you can go visit and take photos when the crouds are gone. The lobby is three stories high with beautiful furnishings from a time gone by. The rooms are a bit in need of a makeover. I had a Junior...

This is a great location to stay at - old historic hotel that has been updated. I would recommend it if you want to be downtown and near the Riverwalk and Alamo. Tons of great restaurants within walking distance.

Was on the third Floor near the end. Do not except a room on the 3rd floor. Several associates stayed on the 2nd floor and did not experience the same problem that I had. Water in shower was extremely HOT and or extremely COLD on 3rd floor.

The staff was so willing to please. We incurred a leak in the bathroom tub. The room they moved us to was an upgrade to the room we had. Both rooms were beautifully decorated, we stayed in the old part of the hotel. The history to us was exciting and the ghost stories were even more fun. We did encounter...

What a great hotel. We stayed in the historical section and it was like stepping back in time. The room has all the charm of having been built in 1859 but all the comforts of 2016. Even free wifi so I could get a little work done. The staff were amazing; everyone was very friendly and helpful. My sister commented...

My husband booked this for our anniversary stay based on it being "haunted" (eye roll). Reading some of the reviews from people who choose to believe that made me a little concerned that the climate control would be a problem or that there would be a musty smell (I don't get rating a hotel highly after noting it smells like...

NO CLIMATE CONTROL in the room, despite the existence of a thermostat. After spending an excessively warm night in our SMALLER-THAN FULL SIZE BED in our SMALL ROOM we woke to find that the room thermostat (which we set to A/C to cool the room), was reading a temperature warmer than it had been upon arrival and a shower that...

Please keep in mind I cannot speak for the truly historic part of this hotel. All I know is I booked a King room at the Menger and it was bad enough to switch to another hotel after the first night. The bathroom was tiny and had one of those old low hospital style toilets with the handle flush that...

While the Menger enjoys a great history, it desperately needs better updating. They have made recent strides to update some of the original rooms. That said, the rooms, bath and closets are still small. The furnishings are more reproductions than original so it's really a "missed opportunity" for a true restoration. Great bar and beautiful lobby. Service - okay at...

This historic hotel located across from the Alamo in downtown San Antonio is known to be haunted. Although I did not experience it, there are many storied about its history and haunts. I was pleased at the condition of my room in such an aged building and was there for a week and found it to be very homey and...
