The Menger Hotel is a delightful trip to the past. Spending time in the Bar there is fun but don't be in a hurry. The ambiance is delightful but there is so much to do along the river walk. When you return to your room after a fun packed evening, watch the large step up into the bathroom. Might want...

My wife and I stayed at the Menger Hotel earlier this week for a few days. It was wonderful! Great historic hotel, beautiful decor, and wonderful people. We ate in the Colonial Restaurant, in the hotel on two days for breakfast and one day for dinner. All was wonderful. Our dinner was the best, as we had a wonderful woman...

Loved our room overlooking Alamo Plaza. Staff was very cordial & attentive. The room was spotless & the entire hotel was very comfy & cozy. Loved the history & antiques. We've stayed in the Riverwalk properties but will now be back at the Menger everytime we're in town.

Being a history enthusiast, I have long wanted to stay at the Menger Hotel and visit the Alamo, which is just next door. The hotel itself is steeped in history, being the oldest hotel in continuous operation west of the Mississippi. Teddy Roosevelt stayed here a recruited for the Rough Riders out of the Menger Bar. We stayed in the...

I traveled with my daughter to The Menger for the Alamo 13.1 fun-run. We found The Menger to be a beautiful historic hotel. Don't let historic scare you, this hotel is well maintained and modern without losing it's old world charms. The location is so convenient to many attractions downtown. The Alamo is across the street, The Riverwalk is a...

The Menger hotel may be old but facilities are up-to-date. Located in Alamo Square near "must see" monuments, it boasts a superb character bar which is always lively and all staff seem to want guests to be made welcome and have a great time. I shall return next trip to San Antonio (in fact other conference delegates who met me...

Steel conference and visit to see San Antonio sights. My wife joined me as well as a business associate and his wife. Thoroughly have enjoyed the River Walk and all of its shops and restaurants. Loved the museums and Alamo. Friendly people, very welcoming, we will return!

I was in San Antonio for a conference and The Menger was the official hotel for the conference. Not only did a get a good room rate, I also was treated to a room with a view of the Alamo. As with most historic hotels (I love these), the rooms are on the small side; however, there are comfortable and...

We stayed 2 nights at this great hotel. Everything was perfect, the location, the staff & a spotless hotel full of charm. Simple walk to the Alamo and Riverwalk. If you choose this hotel you will not regret it. If we return to this area we will stay here again.

Location is great right next to the Alamo, but no parking so you'll need to use Valet (not too bad 28$) or make other arrangements. The bar is very rustic and dark downstairs - so go upstairs on the balcony.. We ordered in room breakfast which was ample and pretty good.. The room we got was very small with a...

“we were originally given a tiny room in the back of the property with only 1 bed despite our reservation being for 2 beds. They made it right & gave us a big room with 2 beds & a great view.”

“If you like chasing ghosts, ask for The King room. The original hotel is full of charm but the rooms may not be for everyone. The new wing is more of a modern layout. The Menger has it all, just be sure to confirm which room you would prefer. ”
