My friend and I visited Salem in August of 2014 and had the pleasure of staying at the Stephen Daniels House. I couldn't imagine a better place to stay and consider it the quintessential bed and breakfast in Salem. You truly feel as if you have stepped back in time. Kay and Robin were very welcoming and shared many enjoyable...

Cool historic home, if you want to experience the true "spirit" of Salem this is the place. It's like stepping back in time. Not for those who want modern super clean scene. This house is 300 years old, looks it, feels it. Every corner is filled with antiques. Not for everyone! My son was a bit spooked! I truly enjoyed...

I thought it would be cool to stay in an 1600s house in Salem during our weekend stay in Salem. History and beds all in one. First, limited Parking. The first night we arrived were able to leave our car in the Driveway, then next day the entire street was full. I had to park 3 streets down, I was...

There was no dust in the room, the wall paper is not moldy, the bathroom is right next to the room. Did you expect to put one foot into the bath tub? Bathroom is adjunct to the room. This is a pet friendly house, anyone with allergies would know this would not be the house for them. We buy fresh...

We were passing through Salem and wanted to stay somewhere historical. This place definitely fits the bill. The house is filled with antique trinkets and some rooms are true to the original 1600 construction. The hostess was knowledgeable about the history of the house and answered many of our questions.

My husband, dog, and I recently spent 3 nights at the Daniels House for my birthday and Valentine's Day. I wish we could've stayed longer! Wherever we go, we love staying in older homes turned into b&b's. We've stayed in amazing ones all over the place, but the Daniels House was by far the oldest and most amazing yet! The...

Stayed here mid November 2015 and had a wonderful time. Really enjoyed the absolutely authentic atmosphere, beautiful decor, comfy room, reading by the fire and chatting with Kay and Robin. I cant wait to return for a visit and bring my family. The Stephen Daniels House is one of a kind and so very special to experience. I cant say...

Just got back from the Daniels House....I didn't want to leave. If you like generic, cookie cutter, sterile hotel rooms, this isn't for you. If you want a warm, friendly, comfortable, cozy, unique place with lots of character and charm, you have found your perfect place. It is located near all the attractions, but yet on a residential street with ample...

Just spent a horribly scary night at this house. We couldn't pack up fast enough the next morning. We both had unwanted visitations that freaked us out - we were staying in different rooms. You may think it is cool to have a ghostly experience but when it happens, not so. DETAILS NEEDED TO KNOW IF YOU WANT TO STAY;...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The home was converted to a restaurant and inn in 1945 by the Hallers. Current owner Catherine Gill, affectionately known as Kay, purchased the inn in 1962 and has proudly served as innkeeper and caretaker during 49 years . Making us Salem's oldest running Bed&Breakfast! Upon entering the home one is immediately enthralled by the sheer number of antiques and collectibles that cover most every conceivable nook and cranny. Antique pottery next to historic English puppets, laced with cross-stitch art works, majestic portraits, antique toys and so much more. A life time of Kay's world travels and collecting. It is an eclectic feast for the senses. The home itself is a living museum where guests can take a step back in time as they touch and see, feel and explore and get a true sense of the history and romance that abounds throughout the entire home. Our goal is focused on providing you with an enjoyable and memorable experience and not merely a comfortable place to relax and rest your head. We may not be Salem's most modern inn but we are the most unique! Our suites are furnished with period four poster canopy beds and decorated with genuine antiques. There are no velvet ropes here! If history and ambiance is what you seek than the Daniels House is the place to stay. Come and meet your hosts Kay Gill and Robin McDonald. Enjoy our complimentary continental breakfast of fresh baked muffins, juice, cereals, coffee, teas and pleasant conversation. Child and pet friendly. Thank you for visiting and hope to meet you at the Inn.Owner and operator for over 49 years Kay. ... more   less
