We spent our honeymoon at the Lodge on the Desert 40 years ago. At that time it was walled in on the desert, (thus the name). Now the city has built up around it. We visited it a couple years ago and it has really changed and they've remodeled. We didn't recognize the landscape at all. Back then they would... More

The room was large and cozy but a bit dark. We stayed in the original section and it was older, but charming and well maintained. I would have given it 5 stars if a throw had been provided on the chair by the fireplace to keep you warm while enjoying it and a rug on the cold saltillo tile would... More

I've reviewed the Lodge before...but, some changes have been made and they are all positive. We just returned from a four night stay there in a large and simple room, facing the Catalina mountains. The room rates have decreased down to a reasonable level with an excellent breakfast now included in the room rate. And, the personnel are even more... More

I took great pains to call in and pay in advance a reservation that was a gift for a friend. I did not do it online so it would be done properly, alas, they still made a mess of it. They will not fix it. The rude front desk person, she would not listen to my concern, she said I... More

I apologize for the substandard service you received. I have instructed the Front Office Manager to adjust the "no show" charge that is reflected on your credit card. Let me know if the adjustment does not go through in the next few days. I hope to have an opportunity to restore your confidence. Thank you for letting me know about... More

We ate Thanksgiving dinner at the hotels restaurant which was a mistake especially the salad bar and desert table. I told the manager I could have done better at a cafeteria. The staff was courteous but food items provided were not worth the price.

The Lodge is beautifully laid out in an old, generous, rich Arizona style. Our room was fairly large with a good king bed. The AC/Heater worked great keeping us comfortable all night and day. It might have been just bad luck, but I tried to sleep all one morning with a headache and it was noisy with a handy type... More

I stayed in a large suite that faced away from the main front street with a view to the Catalina mountains. The decor was true to southwest setting and the bed was very comfortable. The breakfast was well done, the coffee good. I also sampled the on-site restaurant for dinner. Excellent food with good ambiance on the covered patio; not... More

I booked a casita thinking I would have an awesome view (please see photos of my view). It was clean but the furniture was outdated the sofa needs to be replaced. For the price of $239 a night definitely not worth the money. I would not stay here again because the deceiving photos.

Overall I would say that this is a lovely, unique property. The breakfast was fairly substantial, the grounds were beautiful, it was quiet, the pool area was nice (we didn't go in it though...too busy and the weather was a little cool), parking was adequate, service was good and the location was central to most anything you wanted to do.... This hotel is so unique. The rooms are huge and the air conditioning is so quiet and keeps the room at a constant temperature unlike other hotels where the air conditioning is so noisy. The grounds are so well maintained and clean, the pool and hot tub were also clean. My only complaint would be the limited breakfast - everyday... More
