We recently spent a weekend at Hermit Park in the Elkhorn cabin. It is an easy drive from Denver and a unique place to camp. This property is huge and Larimer County purchased it in 2007 from Hewlett Packard. There are several different campgrounds - some for tents, some for RVs and some for equestrian camping. We stayed in one...

Went on a 5 night camp out by myself to hike to sky pond in the national park plus some others. It was a last minute decision to go. Everyplace was booked up. As I searched for places I came across reserve America which showed some opening. Reserved site b17. Not knowing what the condition of this park would be...

My boyfriend and I stayed here in Aug. 2015. My mom worked for HP for 20 years and we grew up going to Hermit Park and camping as well as their annual picnic. I've always loved these cabins, they have everything you need for a great camping trip. I love that it is heated by propane so you can camp...

Made it up the mountain from Fort Collins for a weekend getaway with my buds and our kiddos. We stayed at the Elkhorn cabin and had a great time - toddlers too. Brought just enough wood that we didn't have to buy more at the ranger station. Finished all the beers we brought along, including those from a bonus beer...

We strayed at Big Gulch cabin at Hermit Park for the Memorial Day weekend. This is a one room cabin with two full size bunk beds. The cabin had a nice propane fired stove for heat and propane lights. There was also a three burner stove inside hooked to the cabin propane; we did not use the indoor stove and...

These cabins are fantastic. We spent this past weekend in the Spring Creek cabin. It had propane heat in the form of a gas stove and propane lighting. It was equipped with 4 sleeping surfaces, each with 2 twin bed mattresses. The experience is similar to camping without all of the discomforts of camping. The cabins are spaced quite far...

We stayed in Big Gulch and were very happy since we had no previous knowledge of these cabins. Very clean, spacious cabin with vault toliet that was the cleanest I've ever seen! Staff was very helpful and friendly. Hiking trails were beautiful! would recommend cabins to anyone looking for seclusion. Can't see the other cabins so it was great. I...

I and my family enjoyed a three-day stay in Hermit Park as part of a trip to Estes Park, CO and Rocky Mountain National Park. The cabins of Hermit Park are different from other camper cabins we've rented and provided a unique camping experience for us. The cabins are secluded in a wooded valley surrounded by mountains. Each cabin sits...

My family stayed at Cabin 3 (Big Springs) of the Hermit Cabins in Larimar County in late july 2013, , very close to the town of Estes Park and entrance to Rocky mountain National Park. At the entrance, you check in and make sure you load up on water, and you can buy an ice cream treat and wood if...

What a shame. This used to be such a well run and beautiful area when owned by HP. Now that Larimer County has taken over it has become a public run nightmare. If the county wants to make budget cuts, look no farther than the Open Space Ranger Department. There are about as many rangers hanging out than there are...

“I'd say any cabin would be great. They are the same - just different views.”

“Any of the cabins are great, but we thought that the cabins on the north part of the cabin loop where a little better than the cabins on the south road. There are fire pits at the cabins and firewood is available at the park office. We like Big Gulch, Big springs and Ravens Roost as cabins. The camping areas tend to be a little crowded at times, but you could do much worst.”

“These are individual cabins in a county park. I don't believe that there is a bad one available.”
