The Little America Hotel, often described as an upscale retreat, boasts spacious and comfortable rooms that are generally well-received by guests, though a few have mentioned noise and air quality issues. While the sophisticated atmosphere is adorned with elegant decorations, the choice of music occasionally strikes an odd note. Guests also commend the well-equipped amenities, including a gym and pool, and the location's convenience is a highlight. However, the extra charges for parking and services have led some to question the hotel's value. The staff's friendliness and the hotel's cleanliness consistently receive high marks from visitors.

Little America Hotel in Salt Lake City is the quintessential American hotel experience. The property is beautifully maintained, well appointed with wool carpets, and fine furniture in the rooms. The pillows are soft as clouds and the beds are extremely comfortable.

The restaurants are the best! The food is delicious and the ambience is the definition of American restaurant hospitality.

I have been staying at Little America for many many years and I keep going back because there is nothing better.

Little America Hotel turned out to be a fantastic place to stay. The lobby was quite plush and the hand sanitizing stations placed at regular intervals were very reassuring. The folks at the front desk wore masks and glass screens were installed at the front desk separating patrons from the employees at the front desk. Our two queen bed room was quite spacious and was pleasantly made. An excellent view of the downtown and the mountains beyond from the balcony was an added charm. There was a big TV, a couch and a few chairs in the room. The bathroom was spotless and the toiletries were of excellent quality. The only glitch was that our bathroom door was not locking properly. A mini fridge was lacking in the room, that would have been one thing to add to the room. The hotel has a coffee shop and a gift shop and I really liked the decor of the hotel front desk and lobby areas. The Temple Square is around a mile from the hotel and there are a number of restaurants in within walking distance. There is a light rail station quite close to the hotel. They did charge an additional $15 to park our car in the hotel parking lot, which was unexpected.

It was an incredible 10 days in Salt Lake City thanks in large part to our stay at Little America, this is a hotel that values customer service, has luxurious rooms and a staff that rigorously adheres to the highest standards.

Little America is centrally located in Salt Lake City's downtown area, we had booked our room in the Towers and thanks to Isaac at the front desk we were able to get a corner room on a higher floor, the views were incredible as was the room. The room was by any standard a suite, with a large bathroom and seating area that included a couch and two chairs. There was a balcony that overlooked the downtown area.

Initially, we had an issue with the hot water but Vince from engineering explained the issue and very quickly solved it. The pool is worth the visit, it’s a combination indoor/outdoor pool that was during our stay very clean as were the two hot tubs that we enjoyed daily, a sweet lady (Kiem) was there and she was very helpful.

The Utah State Capitol is a “walk” up the hill past Temple Square but if you want to get your steps in for the day it’s worth the hike, it is a beautiful structure inside and out. You can access most of the building and the pictures will be memorable. There are many amazing restaurants a short walk or light rail ride away from Little America, also worth noting is the “fare free zone” is just about all of downtown. The light rail was clean and not crowded but we did note few people wore mask on the light rail or in Salt Lake in general, that could be a cultural thing but worth knowing as the Covid crisis continues. Restaurants that we visited did adhere to Covid guidelines which was reassuring.

We took a number of day trips outside Salt Lake including Ogden, Park City and Jackson Hole, WY. Ogden and Park City were manageable but I must admit the 12-hour plus day (5 hour drive each way) was exhausting and I would not do it again. Jackson Hole was spectacular but it’s a heck of a drive and I needed a day to recover, thank goodness for the pool at Little America. On our next visit we will stay a day or two in Jackson Hole.

We had dinner in The Coffee Shop in Little America one night, the service was excellent and the quality of the food exceeded our expectations, having said that with so many quality restaurants in the area it’s worth the effort to explore.

Little America was a great experience, while many guest didn’t wear mask the hotel staff did, it was clean and despite the local culture Little America did their best to adhere to CDC guidelines. Given the time of our visit we were able to social distance and only twice stepped off an elevator due to the crowding and lack of mask wearing by other guest.

We highly recommend Little America for its staff, guest rooms and general ambience, we will return soon.

As someone who knew this place decades ago it is actually sad to see the state of disrepair and disregard it has fallen into. A once classic stay in SLC with routinely friendly service and reasonably comfortable rooms for a business stay, it is now perhaps one of the worst possible places you could land in downtown SLC.

I arrived to my recent stay to find body hairs all over the bathroom floor, an unclean tub, dirty and fraying towels and general grime throughout the room. As it was a very late arrival I called the next morning to advise them of how poorly my room had been cleaned specifically noting these bathroom details and the response was “We’ll fix that” - no apology no embarrassed moment that a guest had experienced that type of reception. Later in my stay I ended up ordering room service, waiting well past (almost 2x as long the quoted arrival time) and called to query my order status being told “We have one server and were very busy”. Again, just disappointing service for what once was a great stay. And, since not a single thing in the place has been updated in 20 years it would be reasonable to expect they’d up the service experience to accommodate. Unfortunately, that’s not the case.

Awful experience twice in one week. This was booked through Amtrak vacations and all our other hotels were excellent, but Amtrak was sold a bad bill of goods here. When you get there and enter the grand lobby you are impressed until you realize that you aren't staying there without a substantial upgrade. You are sent to the ancient rooms off site that look like quarters for migrant workers and the list continues:
Air conditioner units barely working, Gapps around the door that a fly can come through, no refrigerator, microwave.

Truly One of the worst hotels we have stayed in; an old roadside motel would have been better or the Bates Motel.

You are given the feeling that you can't afford the ' Big House' unless you can cook or clean instead of chopping cotton down below

We will be contacting Amtrak with our concerns.

We were given what was called a Deluxe king Garden Suite. We thought this would mean that we had garden view. No… we were in a corner room that had busy streets on BOTH sides and very close to the street. Needless to say, we didn’t get a very good night’s sleep!

Room number 7173 should be avoided at all costs…. You WILL not get a good sleep because of the traffic noise. Little America should be ashamed to put guests in this room. This room and others like it should be used for storage or other usage that doesn’t involve human inhabitants. Or, at least warn people and give them the option to take the room at a much reduced rate… and provide them with ear plugs!

So, if you book a room here, ask specifically NOT to be placed in a garden suite that faces traffic.

On a positive note, bed was very comfortable and the shower had lots of hot water and great water pressure. We wish we could have gotten some sleep, as well.

Stayed here in December, before Christmas and the hotel was very nicely decorated for the holidays, loved the fireplace in the lobby!. The name "Little America: is kind of misleading, as it sounds like some cheap roadside or dumpy airport hotel. If you are fortunate enough (I was) to stay in a Tower room, you will receive a luxury hotel room. I had to return again for work the second night, and was put in one of their rooms in the wing away from the main hotel/Tower. The wing rooms are sadly...aged but clean. Their room service menu had NOTHING vegan, so vegans should walk a short walk up Main Street towards Temple Square to The Green Pig pub, which has an awesome vegan and non vegan menu!

I booked 2 rooms at Little America a week ago and did so on their website. Under special instructions I added I wanted the 7th lodge and adjoining rooms since we were travelling with young children and dividing us would be very hard. When I arrived to check in at the desk they informed me that they didn't have adjoining rooms but could get us rooms on top of each other in the 7th lodge. I said that this would be extremely difficult and asked to talk to the manager. Andrew appeared and after asking him if he didn't have adjoining rooms in the tower he acknowledged he did but that it would be $40 per room extra. I explained that most "Good " hotels would have comped me those rooms and in the end after I told him I was very displeased he did it. Thanks Andrew for doing the right thing in the end but you should have done it right up front.

Room 1626 was a fantastic room. We had plenty of room for 3 adults in town for 4 days and 3 nights. The queen beds were very comfortable. The bathroom had plenty of room for everyone to get ready at the same time. Not having housekeeping is a major financial savings for the hotel, and it didn't make any difference to us. We stopped by the front desk to order our bathroom restocking needs, and they sent up room service to drop off the orders within the hour. We sat out and had coffee on the balcony each morning after yoga. The breakfast was excellent. We ate at the Coffee Shop the first two mornings, two people cost about $50 and then the Lucky H for the Sunday buffet for 5 for $275 with tip. You MUST stay in the tower. We couldn't imagine staying down on the street side with the tram/train running every 5 minutes. We sat out on the patio for a late desert one evening and it was a constant noise. We'd suggest the 16/17th floor is a must. The only complaint was not having a refrigerator. We had food and drinks we would have liked to have kept cold. We'd for sure stay here again, even though we're booking the Grand America next year for our Lions Den Live conference.

Stayed here with a couple of colleagues for a work trip. When you walk in the hotel it has the appearance of being really nice, but when you get to the rooms, they’re pretty basic.
The very small refrigerator is located in the bathroom right across from the toilet, awkward. The small coffee maker is also located in the bathroom across from the toilet. It’s rather inconvenient when someone is in the bathroom and you want to get something out of the fridge or make coffee.

Additionally, there is no fan in the bathroom so it gets very steamy and stays steamy for a while after a shower.

We stayed 4 nights and asked twice for housekeeping to come freshen our room (take out trash, freshen towels, etc.), but no one came. We ran out of toilet paper and after calling for it and telling them we were all out, an hour later someone brought some. Rather inconvenient when someone needed to use the toilet. We also called for fresh towels, again, an hour later someone showed up with a couple towels. It just seemed like they were not very concerned with guest service.

This was an ok place, but I definitely wouldn’t recommend to stay here.

No there are not… There are several laundromats in the city however I chose to drive to a laundromat called wishy washy… It was a little bit further out of town however it was the cleanest laundromat I have ever been to and the dryers were free. It is a family owned business and the family and employees are absolutely amazing!

The green line train can be picked up about two blocks from the hotel. Buy tickets at self-kiosk. Seniors $2.50 one way directly to the airport. 20 min ride. We were there 8/31/21.
