This is a charming old homestead that has been restored. Very interesting history on the house and Macon. We stayed here while traveling through Macon and it was such a nice change from the hotels that are on interstate! Our bed/linens were very comfortable, large room, our bathroom was quite small which was the norm for when the house was build.

This is the true bed and breakfast. Everything is delightful. Modern conveniences with old world charm. The stay made us feel like royalty. The bed is very comfortable. The host is available if needed but not in your face. The morning chef was delightful and the food was delicious. Will stay here again.

This is one of the most elegant, clean, comfortable, friendly, rich in history places we have ever stayed. Paul was incredibly gracious and a marvelous chef. My only regret was that we could not manage to stay more than one night. We will definitely be going back.

Everything was topnotch in our first stay here since the mansion changed hands and it is even better than before. Paul graciously allowed us to check in early as I had a Zoom meeting at 2:15. In preparation for the later complimentary cocktail hour, I asked if they had vermouth. He responded they did not. However, when the hour arrived it was front and center. My wife and I were able to tour the lavish home, a museum really, drink in hand! Nice. The next morning, we had a wonderful breakfast. Our companions at the breakfast table (we declined the option to dine alone) were very congenial and interesting. Plus, we got to meet the newly arrived Astro, a pint-sized robot who was in training to attune to the needs of guests, I think.

Awesome getaway at a great bed & breakfast. The Burke Mansion was such a relaxing, quiet, welcoming, place to stay. The Mansion was beautiful. Sitting on the front porch was so peaceful. The service could not of been better and the chef was amazing. I Definitely see a return in the future Teresa Thompson

After seeing some negative reviews in earlier times, our eyes were opened as to why. Clearly there were some legitimate concerns in the past but they are just that, in the past. The new proprietor, Paul, has rectified all of them. Considering that he hasn’t been there long, his positive transformation of this majestic, old mansion has been nothing short of rapid and remarkable. His knowledge of the mansion, it’s furnishings, history, the area, the local attractions, and personalities, bring the bricks and mortar to life. There is nothing he wouldn’t do to make the experience everything one would want. For example, we asked for some sour mix for our evening cocktail that he was going to prepare while we settled in. He apologized for not having any. However, when we came back downstairs, he had everything ready for us, including a carafe of homemade sour mix! He had researched it, gathered the fresh ingredients, prepared it, and served it, together with a delicious array of snacks, smartly set out on silver and crystal. This is the essence of customer service. The building, it’s opulence, and grandeur are readily apparent, but it is the attention to detail that make the stay something unforgettable.

In short: Burke Mansion exceeded our already high expectations; it's a surprisingly grand stately home - given that Macon isn't Charleston - with bags of original features and charm. Measured in the key categories*, it scores a very solid 4.6 average. The long story: We'd planned a road trip that incorporated Macon for 2020, but COVID got in the way, so we'd been looking forward to this visit for some time. We research extensively and therefore expected Burke Manion to be on the grand side, but not on this scale: the house is very, very impressive and is really something to be savioured. Dating from 1887, it retains many of the original fixtures and fittings - age has taken its toll on some of these, but that's also part of the charm - and the house oozes old-world charm. Our room: The T.C. Burke is large - the bed is simply huge - and all very comfortable and impressive. It faces the front of the house, and, therefore the street, so there can be some vehicular noise, but that's standard for any property in town and nothing to be bothered about. The breakfast: A very nice breakfast served in the glorious main dining room made us feel rather "under-dressed"..! Serious, it was a very pleasurable experience. The acid test (that is, would I return): yes, definitely. *Key Categories Accommodation = comfort, ambiance, sleep quality, facilities: 4.5 Breakfast/Dining = quality, choice, appropriateness: 4.6 Staff = helpfulness, efficiency, politeness: 4.5 Meeting Expectations = how close to meeting the expectations they set: 4.8 Value-for-Money = everything consideration and measuring this against the cost: 4.8

Lovely Inn, my room was exquisitely decorated and comfortable. The availability of 24/7 coffee service in the upstairs study was much appreciated, and it was served in lovely chinoisere mugs. The service; however, is what really stood out. Paul, the innkeeper really went above and beyond to ensure all my needs were met...from providing an individualized charcuterie plate at happy hour, to setting up an iron and ironing board for me, to learning to make breakfast waffles just because they were my preference :). In a world where exceptional service is a dying art form, Paul's hospitality really stands out. I felt welcomed and right at home throughout my stay. I'm happy to recommend this lovely Inn!
