Charming 2 night stay at this very welcoming and characterful B&B with great hosts. Spacious room and great choice of breakfast cooked by the owners. Slightly longer than expected walk into the centre of town but many restaurants offer free transport home - just have to ask. Highly recommend if you want a more personal stay.

It was fab just to welcomed into Bernie & Gerard's home, and find their visiting family there to greet us too. We just sat round their dining table enjoying a cuppa with them all and learnt loads about New Zealand and their lives over here. The rooms, guidance and Gerard's breakfast were all wonderful.

We stayed for 3 nights in this old historic home in a superior room. It was very comfortable with separate bedroom and sitting area (nice large shared balcony off the sitting room). Bernie has great local knowledge and she gave us lots of ideas about activities and dinner options. Several restaurants offer pick up/drop off services if the walk seems...

Holly Homestead is well located just outside Franz Josef, and expertly run by Bernie and Gerard. Bernie has thought of everything - she was immensely helpful, providing advice, arranging pickups by restaurant cars, even having a glass of port waiting for us when we returned from a night out. In the morning Gerard cooked us an excellent breakfast and as...

Bernie goes out of her way to make this B&B an excellent choice. The new suite is spacious and well appointed. Her advice on restaurants was good and the list of places to stop by on the way south to Wanaka and Queenstown was terrifically helpful - including very accurate drive times. Breakfasts were delicious!

This B&B is characterful with great atmosphere and host Bernie was friendly and welcoming. Our room was clean and spacious with comfortable bed and wonderful mountain view. It had a large en-suite bathroom containing shower and separate bath. We also had shared use of sunny balcony with seats and table. The TV in our room didn’t have reasonable reception, but...

Holly Holmestead is perfect as a base in Franz Josef. The house is very comfortable and thoughtfully decorated. There are four rooms and ours was the deluxe suite which had every amenity including a beautiful bathroom. Our host, Bernie, was very welcoming and took a great of trouble advising what to do and explaining in depth detail of the area....

Very comfortable and very accommodating hosts. Lots of helpful information for resort and travelling on. We had a room with a sitting room which was great to relax in. There are also patios to sit out on - good for sunset watching or just admiring the mountains. Breakfast delicious and plenty of choice. Just outside Franz Joseph but not a...

Following a great welcome from Bernie and a tour of the property, she had us organised for our two night stay over a pot of tea in the welcoming lounge. Restaurants were booked on our behalf, including free return travel (one in a stretch limo), and alternative attractions as the weather was inclement - recommend the Glacier walk and the...

We only stayed one night there. Nevertheless we had a very warm welcome by our hosts. We stayed in the very spacious suite. There nothing is missing, even a moscito machine can be found. Excellent wifi signal available. For breakfast we were asked if we wanted a single or a double portion. Home baked bread and fresh fruit salad were...
