We stayed at the Te Waonui for one night in December as part of a pit-stop to see the glaciers. The hotel is very well equipped, comfy and clean. The staff are super helpful and will happily help where necessary. We had a 5 course meal the night of our stay and it was very very good. You certainly won't...

Much to our surprise, we we're upgraded to this hotel. Wonderful! We haven't actually checked out yet but I don't think I'll be able to get out of this heavenly bed! Service is excellent, hotel looks clean and staff very attentive. Great piano player which added to the ambiance of the lounge area. Its pricey but one has to maintain...

Great hotel and super service. Slight problem with one course at our first dinner, this was overcome by a splendid second dinner. Very comfortable room with excellent service. Unfortunately we live a long way away and it is unlikely that we will be ale to repeat a wonderful experience.

Our group only stayed for one night here, I wished it was more. After travelling by coach for many hours we were quite tired (from Christchurch to Franz Josef is no joke !) When I fell into the bed that night I thought I'd found nirvana or at least a feather bed but no I discovered in the morning that...

Being greeted by a local Maori in traditional dress was very special, but our overall impression is that the Lodge is starting to look a bit tired. The room was spotless and spacious but the bed had more lumps than a Mogul Course! Breakfast choices were extensive but the carpet is badly stained and the staff gave the impression they...

We stayed at the Te Waonui Forest Retreat for two nights, opting for the two night special package which included one night of dinner, breakfast each morning, and a one day pass to the Hot Pools next door to the hotel. Our review is a bit mixed, so here are the pieces. Pros: The staff was very friendly and helpful,...

Wow! Our family was blown away by the hospitality at the Te Waonui Forest Retreat. Richard (the manager) and his entire team were dedicated to their guests and truly made this a special experience for our family. The hotel is centrally located, yet feels as if you are tucked away in a rain forest. The rooms are very nice and...

We stayed here for 2 nights in March 2017. From the moment we stepped off the bus, the bellmen took care of our luggage and delivered to our room. We were greeted at the check-in desk by the Maori man with kiwi drink and hot towels. The check-in process was very quick. The Maori man took us to our room...

The room and facilities were very new with modern styling. The water pressure, bathroom heating and wifi were great. Dinner was a five-course affair, which we enjoyed. The highlights were the duck and lamb wellington. The location was a little off from the Franz Josef city centre, but still walkable (though we chose to drive out).
