- very inexpensive private rooms with private bathroom - kitchen (there is a fridge you can use next to their private kitchen) - clean - very close to town and beach BUT very quiet - no party hostal - nice staff I stayed there twice and will again when I return.

I just stayed here for a night, but it was a real treat. Very reasonably-priced, tranquil setting, very close to the beach. My water wasn't exactly "hot", but it was nice to have my own bathroom. I loved having my own hammock! Staff were friendly and helpful.

A great hostel in the best town! In general Montanita is a perfect place and you will enjoy it wherever you will stay! but this hostel is so nice you will never want to leave. The hostel is in a good location, the rooms are very nice and clean. some of them with an air condition inside, there is hot...

MamaCucha is only a 5 minute walk to the town, and 2 minutes from the beach, but far enough away for the music not to be deafening. Perfect for solo or couples travelling, even family. You are better off with a room on the far-side of town rather than closer. Basic bed, fan or small aircond, plumbing is ok for...

I have now stayed in this hostel twice, November of this past year (2013) and again this March. My first stay was very quiet as it was during the low season, and my last visit the hostel and town were much busier, so it was a bit louder. However, it was far enough away from the loud part of town...

At first sight this place looked decent, away from the main drag of Montanita, so we booked a double room with the staff. They confirmed the price of 40 USD/night and reassured us that the place would be very quiet at night. Later however when we settled in our room, we realized an official price list on the door, which...

We stayed at Mama Cucha for 4 nights and had a great experience. The beach is very close and it's right across the bridge in town so super easy to go out or stay in, whatever you like. The rooms are comfortable and include screens on the windows (Yay!) and a mosquito net over the beds. We had a room...

After reading reviews about stayin somewhere quiet I crossed the river in Montañita and started walking down the road to the right. A local stopped me and said if I'm looking for something tranquil at night to go to Mama Cucha. As soo. As we walked in the doors, the beauty if the place had me sold. Plus they had...

During the 5 weeks I stayed at Mama Cucha, I have came to the conclusion that it is the best hostal I have been in all my trips in the last decade: - The spirit of Mama Cucha is simple. Be nice to others and others are nice to you. If you are sick the workers will buy food for...

the place is pretty and the owner gives an appearance of nice people, however, too many little things made the stay bad. poor wifi, no guests allowed, no soap even in the expensive private, no entertainment room, tv or computers and no refrigerator to store food. bad water power, which they blamed on the town in general. then they also...

“If you get a room on the bottom floor near the stairs you might be able to get a bit of wifi in there (that was our first room) but otherwise you will need to go outside or sit in the outdoor kitchen area.”
