My favorite part of the Wailea Beach Resort was the Adults only Infinity pool. A great place to relax, cool off, and enjoy the ocean views. If you would like to get chairs with an umbrella, you should get to the pool by 8:00 am. The staff are very friendly especially Judy at check-in who upgraded us to a ground floor Hale 7 room with a view of the Marriot hula show. Free entertainment almost every night ! As a Platinum member, you can choose Starbucks and get 2 fruit cups, 2 drinks, and 2 pastries or pay around $4 to upgrade to breakfast sandwiches which is the best deal. You can also go to the Whale’s Tale cafe but you can only get pastries there for your Platinum breakfast amenity. Breakfast sandwiches there are delicious but at $14 they are way over priced like most of the food at the Wailea resorts. Sherry, at the Whale’s Tale was very friendly and always remembered my name. For the $35 per day amenity fee you can go to a yoga class, hula lesson, lei making class, or ukulele lesson. You have to sign up for the classes and the yoga classes were “full” every day but people are no shows so just show up at the front desk at 7:00 am and you probably will get in. The Wailea Shops are only a 10 minute walk and there are plenty of shops and restaurants. The Island Gourmet Market (owned by ABC Stores) is a great place to get ramen, sushi, poke, salads, and freshly made sandwiches. They also have great breakfast. Overall, I was happy with my stay at the Wailea Beach Resort - Marriott, Maui and I would return.

The first leg of our Maui trip was on the Kaanapali side, and it’s more go-go-go... Wailea is more relaxing and this was the perfect hotel to do just that! The room was super clean, but not too exciting. The open area lobby was gorgeous and the pools were exactly what we were hoping for. They have four pools, that’s right I said FOUR!!! What this means is ZERO crowds which made it easy to get 3 chairs when ever we needed them. The slides are great and actually they have a slide for littles and thrill seekers. There is also a full service Starbucks at the hotel and Island gourmet market is simple stroll away. We can’t wait to come back!

A few things to know: 1. The rooms don't have privacy. They're all low to the ground, so they look over walkways, pools, etc. 2. Everything is pay-to-play. They don't even put out free coffee. If you want drip coffee, you have to wait in line at Starbucks. There's a 20-min line even at 6am. I sat on a beautiful chair overlooking the ocean, and was promptly asked to pay $300. 3. You can't get a table at the hotel's restaurants. We went to every restaurant on the property on our first night and couldn't get in anywhere. 4. The design is very dated. The hotel was built only a few years ago, but the rooms look like your grandpa's beach house or a retirement community. For what you end up paying with all the add-ons, you might as well stay at the Four Seasons. Or the Andaz -- we had dinner there and it was gorgeous and the same price.

The infinity pools were my favorite thing about this. Hotel and watching the sunsets from the pool. I loved that there were different options - one with music and the quieter side. It was also nice to see that families had the water park section as well. It’s a huge resort and very beautiful grounds. The beach portion with sand wasn’t very large. It was accessible to the Kihei area and lots of shopping/restaurants. For Marriott bonvoy members the option to get any Starbucks drink as part of the continental breakfast was a big plus. I was thankful got the ocean view upgrade I received. The rooms without a view didn’t seem like a great option given the location. The staff were helpful but not super friendly.

I am late in updating my hotel reviews, but wanted to do this property justice. I booked a stay for work for a few days and the rest as a vacation for my wife and I. She absolutely loved this hotel and on the days I was working had no shortage of things to do. The restaurant is delicious and the property is right on the beach. Once I finished with work for the week, we spent lots of time walking along the property to the beach, having fun on the waterslide(harnessing our inner kid) and eating at nearby restaurants. Monkeypod is one of our favorites(we hope it is still there post-pandemic for our eventual trip back!). Overall, this was a beautiful and clean property. When we return to Maui soon, we will be staying here again!
