I make an annual trip to Maui and usually stay at Marriott's Wailea Beach Resort. It's one of my favorite properties but recently felt a little crowded for my taste--not to mention increasingly expensive. I decided to try the new AC Hotel just up the hill and had a pleasant stay until the last of my five nights. It's now 4:28 AM on the Sunday morning of my departure, and the thumping music, foot pounding, and loud voices from a nearby room continue. At about 3:00 AM, I called the front desk to complain. The attendant told me he would investigate. Nothing changed, so I called again. The agent offered to move me to another room for the rest of the night. I initially didn't want that hassle, but the noise continued, so I went to the front desk and told the agent I would take him up on his offer. The digital key to the replacement room did not work. I returned it to the front desk and returned to my original room where I'm writing this review. A few minutes ago, the agent called and offered an additional apology and some concessions. I'm grateful for that, but it's now 4:45 AM, and the music is still thumping. Before tonight, my review would have been that the AC Hotel offers a quiet alternative to the mega-resorts on the Wailea coast. The infinity pool is better than I expected, and though it's adjacent to the parking lot, there's a beautiful view of the Pacific Ocean and the West Maui mountains. On-property food options are limited, but the breakfast buffet provides various fresh options. One evening, I enjoyed the sliders at the bar. Plenty of fine restaurants are within walking distance. My ocean-view corner suite on the second floor features a large balcony with two comfortable chaises and fabulous ocean views. There's a busy road nearby, but the traffic noise was tolerable. The room is modern and comfortable, but the complaints about noise transferring from the faux hardwood floors are valid. Even the sound of gentle footsteps makes its way to the rooms below. So, you can imagine what heavy feet and loud music do. I would consider returning to the AC Hotel only if I were confident it would be the quiet and relaxing boutique hotel it was for most of my stay. Unfortunately, night five of this visit felt more like Las Vegas than Wailea. I've vacationed here for over ten years, and this was my first sleepless night. The Marriott may have been crowded at times, but the nights were always restful and serene. AC Hotel management should consider implementing a quiet-hour mandate and be prepared to enforce it, especially on weekends. The staff seems dedicated to friendly, responsive service and a desire to make this a hotel worthy of its location. Tonight's experience left me feeling like I would rate the hotel at no more than three stars, but I bumped it up to four because of the front desk's concessions. I'm wrapping up this review just before 6:00 AM. The partying above me finally ended at about 5:00 AM.

Hotel's Favourite
Read the reviews carefully. Although we are having a great time here, the complaints are accurate and you need to determine what is important to you. The one complaint that is extremely valid no matter what your circumstance is the lack of drawers. There is empty space where you can put things but considering that most people stay for days, the lack of drawer space should be considered heavily for your personal preference. I am currently sitting on our oceanfront balcony. It is gorgeous. It does in fact overlook the parking lot. It’s not that pretty but the pool and ocean are gorgeous so it doesn’t bother me. It could very well bother you. The staff is in fact great. We asked for lotion and got it within five minutes. They do have daily room service which during Covid is not at all a given. Personally, I think it is much better than the Marriott Wailea beach club bc it is not a congested massive hotel. It is very quiet. It is also November 2021 and I’m guessing half full so maybe it’s not always quiet. We also used Marriott points and I doubt I’d feel quite the same had we paid the $850/night that is the current rate for this room. There is zero privacy from the bathroom. Yes there is a door but it is opaque and provides zero noise or light protection. If your roommate turns on the light in the bathroom during the night, you will feel like you are living the scene in Christmas vacation. A definite plus is that they have a peloton in the exercise facility. Peloton addicts understand. It is super close to the golf courses. All in all it is a great experience but you should carefully consider what ia important to you.

We stayed a week whilst scuba diving. Had a really nice stay in a beautiful property. Pros: Beautiful pool Bar is fun and lively Good food, fair prices (we didn't try the breakfast) Convenient location near shops/restaurants Friendly staff happy to help and make recommendations etc. Excellent gym Large smart tv in room with apps for most streaming services Great bathroom with rainfall shower Convenient parking Noise wasn't really a big issue for us. You can hear traffic as other reviewers have said, but it wasn't enough to be a problem. Cons: Lack of drawers! Living out of your suitcase makes the room always looks messy. Two of my bags were mistaken for trash and taken by housekeeping. An honest mistake but frustrating as we always kept our room organized. Drawers would have prevented this and we wouldn't have had to lay things on our suitcases or on the floor. The bathroom door is a sliding door which doesn't close fully. To get privacy to use the bathroom your partner needs to leave the room entirely. Trash accumulates around the pool area and is not cleared away consistently. We often had straws, wrappers from breakfast, and dirty dishes lying around and needed to ask for things to be cleared away. Few amenities in room. No lotion or cotton tips etc. so make sure to bring everything you usually need in the bathroom. Amenities in room: Iron and ironing board, hairdryer, shower gel, shampoo and conditioner, notepad and pen. Water, tea, coffee etc. Some rooms have a full length mirror but not all. This is a nice property with nice caring staff. I was just a little underwhelmed with what we got considering the price we paid. I would probably stay here again but will definitely shop around before the next trip to see what else is available near this price point.

The staff are the true stars here. Jenver was absolutely fantastic at the front desk. He was responsive and professional to our queries and did an amazing job making me feel welcome. I also want to do a special shout-out to Melissa who worked both the AC Kitchen and bar while we were there. She was absolutely amazing and hospitable to me and my friends. In terms of the hotel, here’s the quick list of pros: - The staff. Everyone at the hotel was professional and friendly. - The location is great. It’s a short walk to the Shops at Wailea and the beach. The property is also close to Kihei so there’s plenty of stuff to do. - The property is beautiful. Sleek, bright and modern. It gave the impression of not being crowded even when it was 80%+ occupied. And a quick list of the cons, which I found more of an inconvenience rather than actually bad: - The insulation between the floors is not great. You’ll hear your fellow guests walking around. - The air conditioning was whacky and stopped working my last night. The room wasn’t hot but it was stuffy. - The view from the property’s infinity pool was marred by the hotel parking lot. It would have been better had the pool and property been built at the front of the property. @Jenver: Thank you for all that you did for my friends and I when we showed up exhausted from our first hotel. Being the first person we met, you set the tone for the rest of our trip and you left a 10/10 impression with me. @Melissa: Thank you for always making sure we were comfortable and for chatting with us. You made our comfort your concern and that left a 10/10 with me. I definitely recommend this hotel.

This is a really great hotel. It does come with a price... like everything in Maui... but I fell in love with the infinity pool and the bar near the pool... They have an excellent buffet breakfast for $25 per person. They have a guest laundry room for $3 dollars per cycle. They have a parking lot for $30 per day. If you want a late check out (18:00) then it's another $200.... you pay for every extra. So it is pricey. But, there are nice restaurants in the area. Walking distance. And I did love the hotel...

We opted to stay at the AC Hotel Wailea really last minute and were unsure how much we would like it and were pleasantly surprised. The lobby reception area is gorgeous with a comfortable and relaxed vibe overlooking the pool area. This are was almost always had plenty of seating available and a calm/serene atmosphere. The rooms were very nice. Every room appeared to have a balcony. The bed was very comfortable. Nice and new modern TV with streaming options and a refrigerator in the room which came in handy. The bathroom had a large rainfall shower and shower wand (no tub) and was quite spacious. The pool area was very nice and had terrific mountain views. It was also spectacular at sunset. The pool featured an infinity edge and a large tiled image of a whale on the bottom of the pool. There was also a large spa right next to the pool that probably held 8-10 people. The pool was also open until 9pm every night and we typically enjoyed some time there after sunset in the spa. It was fairly easy to find a lounger every time we visited. The hotel is not ocean front, but it is definitely close enough to walk. It was also easy walking distance to the shopping mall in Wailea with shops, restaurants, ABC store, etc. This hotel does not have the massive resort elements that you'd find at some of the other resorts in Wailea, but that was actually part of the appeal. A short walk from the room to the pool. Parking on site was convenient and close. Overall just a very nice hotel if you are looking for a reasonable alternative to the big expensive resorts but still have a luxurious pool area and nicely appointed room.

This hotel was in an amazing location- close to shops/market and many restaurants. Easy to get in and out of for Maui day trip excursions. Hotel is also not crowded which is hard to find in Maui and makes it very family oriented. We LOVED the staff especially Sandi. She was amazing and very hospitable. Pool area and gym are beautiful and very very good food as well! Beautiful sunset views as well and balconies!

Just returned from a 5 night stay at the AC Wailea. I definitely agree with other reviews — less amenities, smaller hotel, no drawer space, self service, parking lot views — But, at the end the day, we ended up truly enjoying ourselves. The location is prime and close to shops, beaches, restaurants and more. While there isn’t an actual sit down restaurant onsite, the bar bites by the pool are satisfying (sliders especially) and the all you can eat breakfast is worthwhile. Being on the smaller side, I think the hotel feels more inviting and chill. The pool was always a good time. The gorgeous oceans views makes you forget about the parking lot just below, or maybe we just got used to it. The bartender, Aaron, was the best! Overall the staff was awesome and accommodating. We will definitely return.

We were pleasantly surprised because we had not stayed here before. It is a great location and has a nice pool. Staff was very friendly and helpful. It would be great to add towel hooks in the bathrooms to hang up the towels. This was a new hotel, so perhaps they just had not received the hardware? We will return!
