I was at Glacier Lodge Eqi towards the end of the 2016 season. Upon landing there by ferry transport - you must scurry up the hill to a point should the waters rise because of a chuck of ice that's fallen - you are out of danger. There are 14 'cabins' of various degrees of luxury. Luxury here is all...

Dear Askworldtraveler, We are glad you enjoyed the stay at Eqi! The huts consists of 15 huts, 4 comfort, with running water and heat. And 10 standard huts, and finally 1 hut much smaller than the rest, but very charming. Glad you enjoyed it Best Regards Jakob Schytz

We spent 3 days here and were lucky enough to stay in one of the 4 Comfort Huts which have their own bathrooms, solar power and running water. They are perched on the cliff top overlooking the glacier and you can sit on the balcony listening to the cracking. It is an awesome experience. The standard huts have no water...

Dear Turbogirl25, Thank you for the great review. We are sorry that there were no alternatives for the vegetarians and onion allergic. Usually we have this sorted and have alternatives ready. Regarding the price of the meals, comparing to the hotels and considering that it is out in the middle of nowhere it is actually cheap. Both the logistics part...

before starting the review, we knew this place is quite remote with no water and electricity in the cabin and we were fine with it. we understand as well the location can demand a higher price than a normal hotel nevertheless, you just cannot charge an exorbitant amount of money just because of the location! most of the camp staff...

Dear Leelo28, We are sorry for your bad experience and have taken measures and have since opened up the toilets and all huts have heaters, a few where found to be broken in the start of the season and we were awaiting replacements. Sorry for that. We do not feel we charge an exorbitant amount, due to the fact that...

As an arctic traveller and nature lover it is absolutely a must to at least stay one night at Ice Camp Eqi. Although if you have the time, then more nights are recommended. Not being disturbed by phone calls, emails, updates on social media or whatsoever that needs cell service or internet is guaranteed during your stay at this camp...

To be honest, especially for Asians, if you choose to sleep in the standard hut then be fully prepared that there will be no running water or toilet or charging point in your cabin. You need to walk up to the restaurant to charge your phone/camera batteries or use the toilet. There are only 3 sockets for you to charge...

WOGstaff, Front Office Manager at Glacier Lodge Eqi, responded to this review

Dear Kopimocha, Indeed it is a different experience than any other. We try to give every guest equal opportunities to charge their devices. We are currently working on improvements for the lodge area, so stay tuned. Hope you have a nice day. Best regards Jakob Schytz

This lodge is in a very remote location - set your expectations accordingly. Upon arrival at the dock, you have to climb a steep and slippery hill to reach Cafe Victor: pack lightly and bring a backpack only, leaving everything else in Ilulissat. Stayed one night in a Comfort cabin, with running water, shower and electricity. The cabin was spacious...

WOGstaff, Front Office Manager at Glacier Lodge Eqi, responded to this review

Dear CQFP123, Thank you for the kinds words and the constructive criticism. Regarding black out curtains, I find it extremely pleasant to fall asleep to the view of the glacier, not that I do not appreciate the problem when trying to fall asleep in daylight. The area is unfortunately plagued all of end-June, July & a week in August. There...

Gets you back to nature; not a place for you if you carry injuries or are less fit. Take insect repellant and netting to cope with the midges when outdoors. We found the staff extremely accommodating and friendly.

Dear Waltzy, Thank you for your words. We are as annoyed by the mosquitos as our guests. Unfortunately we cannot do anything. But yes, we sell the repellents and netting in the huts.

Camp Eqi is not for the faint of heart or the infirm of limb. The climb from the dock to the first of cabins is steep and slippery, including a long section of boards affixed to almost vertical rock. The walk from the various cabins to the "main cabin," where meals are served and people gather, is not as steep...

Beautiful lodges in the most spectacular setting, with view on sea and glacier. Surely, a highlight on every Greenland. It should deserve a score of 5+. But staff is unfriendly, not helpful, run it as a boy scout camp, and food is not exciting at all. For that price, you would expect more. Nevertheless, a must to go.

WOGstaff, Guest Relations Manager at Glacier Lodge Eqi, responded to this review

Dear Gerhard, I am sorry you found the staff unfriendly and unhelpful. If you could give me a specific date I can look into what went wrong.
