This was our second visit to this hotel, which is wonderfully situated on the cliffs overlooking the sea. The hotel is currently undergoing some renovation, but apart from some external scaffolding, this did not inconvenience at all. We stayed on a B&B basis, with a full English breakfast provided. If you wish to eat other meals in the Hotel, you...

The Cliftonville is a delightful Edwardian hotel which has been very sympathetically updated, retaining many classical features. The food is excellent and the service couldn't be faulted. If I have to be picky, then there was a cobweb in the bedroom and the bedroom , stained but clean but neither detracted from our stay. Very good value.

Lovely evening meal with our 90yr old mother who has visited this hotel many times. Staff very very good and smiley even got cushions for our mothers chair as she is a little lady. We didn't have starters although mother being 90 didn't want a big dinner so she had fish cakes off the starter menu (asked for chips with...

Although the traditional "roast" was not on offer to us, we thoroughly enjoyed the "mains" but we found the starter and desserts were rather bland.......nevertheless we would return both to eat and to try a "stay"

What an enchanting hotel this is, pleasant friendly staff, nothing too much trouble - ample sized room, comfy bed and a well cooked english breakfast. This is type of hotel experience you used to read about and as the uk's foremost ephemera dealer i should know, so if you fancy a relaxing break head here, you will not regret it.

Quiet - probably because we are out of season. Food was excellent. Staff were helpful, we would come back again and stay here. Room was standard size, comfortable and bed good. The see view was from an angle over a side road so not quite overlooking the sea but never mind.

The staff are very caring and professional, there is an elegance to the reception area and the old staircase, but the rooms are well appointed. My only gripe this time was I was so hot. The heating was on all night and noisy and I"cooked" in the bed I dismantled it to find not only another quilt under the bottom...

Thank you for your comments. I am sorry you were hot. It is often cold here in January when the North wind does blow!! I am sorry, if only we had known we could have turned the radiator off. I can only apologise. Many thanks for your comments

We keep on going back, we love the ambiance, the food, the service, the surroundings, the veg are always overcooked for our personal taste but we know how difficult that is to get right. The fish is always excellent, great puddings, lovely mussels and if they happen to have lobster go for it, the thermidor is fantastic.

We stayed here for the 3 night Christmas break and had a wonderful time. The food was very good, there was a lovely atmosphere and (the best thing) the staff were amazing! From the cleaning girls to the manager, all could not do enough for you and were always very friendly. Would certainly come again.
