We stayed here for a few nights as a base to explore the area around Guadix. This is not a luxury hotel. It is pretty basic, though quite clean. There was construction going on out front which, though not too noisy, made everything kind of dusty. The A/C worked well. Breakfast was not very good and service was uninspiring. They...

An interesting old mansion in a handy position for the town centre. The hotel had a restaurant and bar which were attractively decorated, very cosy with the large open fireplace and the food was good and great value. We would stay here again when travelling down to Malaga.

The hotel was originally a large palatial house. The rooms were on the small side and needed more lighting. However they were comfortable and even had a small kitchen area. The views to the Sierra Navada mountains were fabulous. It was located centrally; so good to see the sights. The food was good and reasonably priced. The staff were fabulous, they all...

A warm welcome in the quaint back streets of Guadix, opened the window shutters to the fantastic snow capped mountains of the Sierra Nevada behind the old houses of the town. The room was very comfortable and cosy, the rest of the hotel was well restored and gave a relaxing feel.

We booked a superior room at this charming hotel and it was well worth the money. Spacious, very comfortable with a big comfy bed and super showerroom. Nice toiletries, big fluffy towels. There is good Wi fi. The hotel is tucked away in a narrow street up some steps in the middle of the old town. We parked in the...

Yes it is a little hidden away but worth seeking out. The hotel is charming and is in an old but refurbished building set around a central courtyard. The rooms are large with many charming timber features, the bathrooms are modern and the rooms have in room safe, fridge and mini kitchen. Breakfast is resonable but the dinner is a...

Lovely, quaint hotel with inner courtyard area and balconies on each floor overlooking it. We have stayed there twice now. Lovely friendly and polite staff at Reception. Cleaning staff friendly and polite. Let down by the one waiter who is strange. He made us sit at a very small table (5 of us and one disabled) rather than the two...

The hotel is located behind the Cathedral via very narrow lanes and streets. Satnav went crazy and trying to ride motorbike over cobbled streets was not easy! Steep walk to hotel and therefore not suitable for persons with disabilities. The reception area is small but staff friendly and helpful. We had a suite on the third floor with lifts ending...

Unfortunately we had only one night at GIT Abentofail, would have loved to have more time. The double room is spacious, as well as the bathroom. All very modern in a charming building. The beds were the most comfortable I ever had. We asked in advance where to park the car and had no problem finding a parking space where...

Located close to the cathedral, the hotel is well designed with modern and comfortable rooms and bathrooms. The staff, specifically Miriam was very helpful in answering questions and forwarded a book (complementary) of how the hotel derived its name. It can be seen especially in the bathroom there was a considerable amount of time designing for both comfort and functionality....

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Hotel Abentofail is named after Ibn Tufail, the great Andalusian philosopher, doctor, mathematician, poet and author of the first novel ever, "The Self-Taught Philosopher”. It is located in the heart of Guadix, one of the earliest human settlements in the Iberian Peninsula, few meters from its cathedral. The historical and natural surroundings of the hotel are unparalleled – we are less than an hour from The Alhambra and Granada and very close to the Nature Park Cabo de Gata – Nijar and the Almeria beaches. The hotel has 30 renovated, comfortable rooms distributed on 2 floors and decorated in different styles, giving our facilities a unique and defined personality. In each room, recycled woods from Indonesia, the best wrought-iron work and noble materials have been used. Of course, the typical central patio crowned with its characteristic fountain could not be missing in our hotel; the perfect place to relax accompanied by quiet music and a perfect atmosphere. The strategic location of the region of Guadix makes it an ideal place for excursions to many spectacular nearby areas. The city of Granada is only 60 km away and in less than an hour the monumental city of The Alhambra can be reached either by public or private means of transport, frequent train and bus service is available at all times. At 30 km distance from Granada is the well-known skiing resort of Sierra Nevada, among those most important in Spain. The beaches of Almeria and the Nature Park Sierra de Gata - Nijar are only 120 km away with easy motorway access (public and private transport) as well as by train. For arrivals after 22.00 please contact the hotel. ... more   less
