I chose the destination for an overnight break between the Alpujarras and the airport. The hotel is a modest but very comfortable hotel with lovely staff, a good restaurant and central location. I arrived after a challenging drive and went immediately to the restaurant for a much needed lunch - which exceeded expectations. My room was a generous size, the bed and chairs supremely comfortable ... an excellent shower and a welcome little balcony. Fantastic.

This hotel has style, atmosphere and reasonabke prices. The personnel is friendly, and always smiling. Plus, the view from the top is magnificent. The only negative is some noise from the street-side in rooms facing the main street. We will be hapoy to return

We stayed here for 3 nights at the beginning of August. The hotel is conveniently located on the main street of this small town. Most shops and restaurants are within walking distance. We got one of their large "suites" with a good sized sitting area. There was a tiny balcony as well...not big enough for chairs, but pretty. The air conditioning worked very well despite the heatwave. The hotel is charmingly old-fashioned with crystal chandeliers, marble floors etc. The rooftop pool is tiny...more like an oversized jacuzzi, but the view of the castle ruins from up there is very good. The place was quite empty, but the people working there were all very nice. The continental breakfast included was very good but don't expect eggs or any hot food for breakfast. We had dinner there which was also very good and the portions are HUGE. The biggest problem is finding a place to park. The hotel has no private parking of its own and the town is crammed with cars. This is a good place to base yourself for a trip to the higher elevation towns of Pampaneira, Capileira and Trevelez which are certainly worth a day trip.

The Hotel Nuevo Palas is right near the roundabout as you enter the town. No need to proceed down the narrow, one-way, tree-lined street. Just continue around the round-about to the Parking for the town, or turn left and proceed up the two-way street to another Parking. The hotel has a fine wide raised porch a few steps off of the street for eating, enjoying a drink or just sitting and doing some people-watching. The rooms are large with amenities like sitting chairs and a desk. The bathroom was clean and complete with a long shower (no tub). The bed was comfortable and there were enough sockets too recharge phones, iPads, etc. Our room, and I believe most of them, had a balcony and also a drop-down darkening metal shade as well as a double-insulated/noise-reducing door. Quiet and sufficiently dark at night. The breakfast was large with melon, fruit, yogurt, breads, jamón, orange juice, coffee and cookies. Believe me, more than you can actually eat! And the breakfast was included in the price of the hotel. The hotel hostess/proprietress was friendly. I recommend a stay in this hotel and this town if you are traveling through the Alpujarras. A roundtrip through the hill towns can be made in 4-5 hours (more or less) depending on howe much time you spend in each village. Stay at least two nights with the Alpujarra trip on the next day.

We are staying near Lanjaron and ate here one evening. We asked to eat indoors as several of the outside tables had smokers sitting at them and we intensely dislike the smell! The Spanish lady in charge couldn't have been more helpful and even presented us with menus written - more or less - in English! The bacalao con gambas was delicious, and the portions were huge! So big in fact that we didn't have room for what I'm sure would have been a very tasty postre. The meal was very good value. Two main courses accompanied by agua con gaz, a glass of wine and a beer, with two cafes con leche to follow came to only 38 Euros! We enjoyed the experience so much that we're going back tonight to try a different offering.

Room Tip: There is a carpark just the other side of the roundabout, around 200 m away. A huge plus point...

Nice and cosy hotel in the centre of Lonjaron. Very good value for money. Nicely sized rooms with a view, huge showers, absolutely fantastic male receptionist. No parking. Spanish breakfast with coffee/tea/milk/OJ and bread with ham and tomato sauce. Would definitely recommend it!

For a week of hiking in the Alpujarras, we were based in the Nuevo Palas. It may not be the fanciest hotel in town, but it suited us all very well. We were looked after like proper palace residents. This is a 3-star hotel, clean, friendly and well run. Our room was comfortable, big enough, with a tiny balcony, and an excellent shower. There is a/c of dubious quality, but hey! the window opens. Being Irish, we needed a substantial breakfast to base our days hiking on, and an earlier dinner time than would be usual locally. Both of these were made available for us, and although I may not have scrambled eggs and bacon again for a while, it was great then. Dinner was a set menu, four lovely courses plus wine. How could one go wrong. The staff in the hotel are fantastic, friendly, accommodating and efficient. They could probably use one or two extra members of staff to help. I enjoyed the rooftop pool (quite small), to cool down after a day's walking. I'd happily use this hotel again

Stayed here for 2 nights, and what a great experience. I traveled alone and was made to feel welcome the minute I arrived. Nothing but praise here; my room was great with large bathroom, clean, comfortable, quiet - despite being first floor and on the front. The food is stunning and well priced; I had the ensalada alpujarra which is simply divine and a number of tapas, and the service has been fantastic. Very highly recommended. And thank you Hotel Nuevo Palas for a wonderful stay 😊

We have spent 3 nights at nuevo palas. We have found the room not properly cleaned (a lot of hairs from previous guests on the floor), which almost remained for all the rest of our stay. The bed pillows smells bad, like the padding has never cleaned since years. The windows shades did not work, and the air conditioner was super noisy. All this made us feel very uncomfortable during all our stay. The overall room and hotel furniture appear very old and lacking proper maintenance and renew, but the very serious problem is cleaning...everything can be accepted and understood (considering also the convenient room price) but not the lack of cleaning!

From the first sight you even can't imagine how tasty it is. Everything prepared when you order. And you need to order red house wine "tinto terreno". Also very beautiful inside with a special type of azulejos.
